I might be the odd one but for my reels that will be used for steady casting, i choose line by diameter, not pound test. There are definitely some lines out there that are VERY strong for the diameter, not all lines are the same, not all braids are the same even thought they may look the same. It would be as crazy as comparing a Kia and a Ferrari by looking at them that way. ..made of iron, plastic, and paint. 2 doors, 4 tires, steering wheel, burns gas. Analysis is complete, they are the same thing and very similar products. take your pick guys.

i have a penn pursuit 3 size 40 or 4,000 spinning reel and i use 12LBS fishing line for bass fishing. well since new years i have been searching my heart out for red fishing line to pair with my green and black 6'10 lew's xfinity speed stik rod and my only options i see are kastking or cajun. i have been searching and found some reviews say that kastking is great line and that most anglers love it and never had a problem with it and 1 review said dont waste my money on kastking because the kastking line really didnt not work and made them loose their lure. so i decided to research a review and im glad i did now. Because i see people use kastking and they donthave any issues with it like you sir. Thank you for this informational review vid. i found it helpful

Years ago, when Fireline first came out, a local shop owner gave me a spool to try, and I was hooked. I soon switched over to almost nothing else for years. When Power Pro came out, the same shop owner spooled up a new Shimano Stradic with some PP30lb on a med. heavy rod for Stripers. I liked it and continued to use it, slowly I started to run PP on my lighter offshore reels as well. Then I got a few bad spools of 50lb PP. I complained, showed the local rep, called PP, and they did send me a new spool, and I send them back the line that kept breaking. There was some talk about counterfeit line, but it came from a major supplier, and they did replace it awfully fast when I complained. I started buying only 1500yd bulk spools, and had gotten a deal about 12 years ago on a dozen 30lb x1500yd spools, around the time they first came out with the super slick PP line. One of those spools lost its color on the shelf over the years, it turned from moss green to sort of a gray/tan color. Several reels with 30lb also faded pretty fast, even without every having being used. (Spare spools stored in my spare tackle bag). It faded but held its strength just fine. The last 1500yd roll of 50lb PP I got was again a disappointment, about 100 yards into the spool, it broke while filling a reel on the line winder, I un-spooled the line onto a small spool, and started over, about 135 yards in I find a lump or flub in the line, sort of a clump of line that looked like a bad splice. I took pics, sent them off to PP but it was around the time they were being taken over by Shimano. I removed that line, went deeper into that same spool and finally got a full shot of PP on that reel, (a 6000 Spheros) I took that rig out back in the field here and gave it a good long cast out in the grass field just so I had the proper line lay for the next day of fishing. I had a 1.5oz rubber plug on and on the second cast, sent the plug and about 100yds of the line into the woods down back. It didn't pop, it didn't make a sound, it just let go mid line. I went and found that tail end of that line and hand reeled it in. I soon realized that I could wrap a few feet around each hand and snap it with minimal force. The whole roll was like that. It was the end of me buying any more PP. I still use the 30lb on freshwater reels on occasion but strongly prefer Fireline, Original Whiplash, (red box), or Spider Wire EZ Braid, all of which are fused lines, not open braids. I have Kastking in 40lb on one surf reel, which I basically consider a loaner these days, and some 80lb on a Penn 114H that I rigged for shark from the pier and beach. I also have the remainder of the 40lb on a 4/0 rigged for surf casting for shark as well. Its faded but not as bad as the 30lb PP I have. Its also been on those reels for a few years now with no issues. No rigs lost, no break offs or anything but its larger in diameter and much softer than PP once its broken in a bit. What I do noticed that the KK aborbs more water than PP, after a day of fishing a big conventional filled with KK, I can squeeze the spool and wring out quite a bit of water, where as the PP seems to shed most of the water. This simple fact has made me leery to buy KK again, simply because of the idea that when put away, I'm putting my reels up soaking in saltwater. For spinning gear, my go to line has been Fireline, and will use it when I find it on sale, all newer reels get Fireline or EZ Braid, and my best surf reels get the old Whiplash in white. (Whiplash is by far the strongest for the diameter and I've never had a break off with it). For ease of use, in braided lines, my favorites are Suffix and Fins. Both are rounder and seem to lay better and last longer on spinning reels. Both are very good as far as consistency of their rating too. If it says 30lb, its 30lb at the knot so long as you know how to tie proper knots. Over the years I've accumulated enough line in bulk spools that I'll likely never have to buy line for the rest of my days, but I still like to try new things. Regardless of what I read in the reviews. I think just the same as some reviews are stoked by paid or sponsored users, just as many are likely written to down grade the competition's product. I experienced some of that back in the day when I was involved in running a few fishing tournaments. Companies would downgrade or show slanted test results that favored their own product done by supposed independent testers. Negative press for you competition is as strong or stronger advertisement for the competition than any proven review. I think all the line manufacturers can have a 'bad run' from time to time, and we can never say what a particular spool has gone through before it reaches our hands. A conversation I had with one manufacturer several years ago brought up the fact that all line is made of one of two basic plastic formulas, either nylon or a derivative of, or Polyethylene. Mono is based on Nylon, most all braids are based on PE. Both are affected by ozone and both are affected by extreme heat. I suspect that the weak spools I got of PP may have been stored in a hot trailer somewhere where it saw high enough temps to damage the line. For these reasons I rarely buy larger spools these days, it limits the chances of getting a huge batch of bad line.

I too use 100 lbs braided of both brand and both are legit. Very tough and durable lines. Mind you, I ocean fish off cliffs or on jetties, where the water is full of rocky, rigid, sharp rocks. Never had a line break or cut on me before. However, the KastKing seems to be a little smoother and lighter and my reel line counter says I can get an extra 5-10 feet out into the water, over the Power Pro lines.

The KZreadr "I_fish" did a comparison a year ago and very thorough. I have switched to braided line about 20 years ago and have use PowerPro, Suffix and Spiderwire, ended up using Powerpro since. Then I saw a bunch of braid line came into the market about 5 years now and did some research and and viewing others review then bought the J-braid x8 1500 meters spool. yeah sure you can go with cheaper braid but the thing about braid line is that silky softness the 4x braid and cheapo don't have. 30lb and 40lb is my favorite for casting. I have 40lb J-braid x8 on Daiwa BG 4500, and PowerPro 40lb on Daiwa Jupiter Z 5000, 100lb PowerPro on Penn 7500ss for Grouper and snapper fishing. I still have some PowerPro braid left. Daiwa Samurai and PowerPro Slick are smother and smaller diameter but heck the 30lb already cutting my fingers and hands why the hell that I want anything smaller and slicker and more expensive??? Before you die and spend more money on junk, go buy the J-braid x8, spool it up and go fishing. A big shout out to I_Fish for his review.

I used to use Power Pro till about 5 years ago when I discovered kast King, since then and since I live in Texas and I like to go offshore I basically only use kastking, I've never had a problem with it and since I've used so many types of braids and they all sooner or later fade and the color comes off on your fingers when you spool a reel, but I use 65 lb kastking for all my ocean needs love it, love it, love it, love it. I just think that power pole is so ridiculously priced.

i use kastking because it is very very cheap, and you get what you pay for, i use it in applications were breaking strenght is not crucial, you know, inshore, beach fishing mostly, but, when im gonig to fish in conditions that require that everything is on point, i tend to go with name brands, nobody is going to buy cheap tyres on a shelvy cobra..well, there is a reason some of us ask you for this kind of things =) that is real talk, no bs. unlike other youtube channels that are somehow sponsored by eighter kastking or piscifun that will tell you that there is nothing better than their products regardless of price.. i mean, whatever, if it works, it works, if it sucks, then it sucks, just be honest about it. that being said, this was the case, real info, no sellouts! great content!

Carbon pink fluorocarbon I’ve used the all at one point and nothing works near as good I worked on a party fishing boat and have out fished some of the best seasoned fishermen up to 6-10 to 1 and I really use all test Lind for everything only going heavier when I start getting to many brake offs lol ya one or two thanks

Only use KK. Don't like the firmness and price/yd. of Power Pro. KK hold up great for fighting large fish, casts light lures a long distance and has good light strike sensitivity whether using ultra light or medium action rods.Granted its green color fades a bit after a month or more, but fish strike lures not line. I don't know what KK Fortis line is - only use the basic KK line. Thanks for the video and pointing out the good and less than good of both lines. For my money, KK is the only line I use. Problem is getting certain lb tests which are sometimes out of stock even in the larger spools.

I've fished with every single braid available to mankind for at least a 100 hours and power-pro is noticeably better than all of them. It is fibrous which gives it excellent resistance to being cut if it scrapes a rock or other sharp objects and getting knots mid cast is unheard of as it does have some good memory. I personally hate Kast King as it has that waxy consistency which reminds me of fireline and your cast distance really suffers with it. If you want a good line that isn't $45 + for 1000m try Dynema spectra, It seems to have the best from both worlds.

Here's the way I look at it. If you need line for optimum casting ( baitcaster or weightless fluke ), then spare no expense and get powerpro. If however you just need a braid for heavier lures, bottom fishing, catfishing or surf fishing, this is a perfect opportunity to use kastking. Thus, I typically use both depending on which reel and style of fishing. There's no way I would put 500 yards of powerpro on my surf reels. It's not worth it. But for finesse reels, absolutely.

I would say make sure you test the break strength with the knot you are using. I bought some discount 50lb test line that broke consistently at 30lbs at the knot. It also has lost a bit of its color and does seem to wind knot more then the powerpro. Still works for what I want it to. I also use 10lb Powerpro on my spinning rod for bass. Its backed with some old 14lb Cajun red. I bought the cheaper stuff to spool a surf pole (Penn Pursuit 6000) and a jigging pole (Penn Seaboy 185) primarily because of the price. But I do like to try to buy American made line which is usually PowerPro, SpiderWire, or Berkley Mono.

Kastking is good braid, strong not too bulky, casts good but power pro is better. Pp is thinner and stronger also color bleed is not bad either. Personal experience with different lbs and colors.

Nice :) I commented last week about using KastKing, and what you said is accurate. I do get wind knots from time to time, which is obviously a pain in the ass. Thinking about picking up some Super Slick next time I respool. Expensive, but I'd assume it casts a lot smoother. Is that accurate in your experience?

I use 10 lb 20lb and 30lb power pro braid the 10lb all are nice but the 10lb gets random knots on the spool i use vanish 6 8 and 14 lb flouro as a leader think im gonna try suffix 832 braid instead, spider wire was junk frays too fast, zebco mono works okay 15 lb mono will land plenty of cats but i like the sensitivity on 10lb braids

He said u get what u pay for. Personally all my reels have braid backer and I use 2' leader of mono our floro. Power pro cast 20 times better l,and cinch is knot better. I use this setup for my bass setup, and my inshore yellowtail setup in socali. Like he said if u have a trolling rig ,for like rapala our feathers for albacore, it's a great backer. If u are casting, picthing, chucking, this line BLOWZ.

Basically, pay a little more $ but actually end up saving a lot of headache by going MADE IN USA. I only use Berkley and PowerPro. With Chinese, you may pay half to get started, but eventually end up paying more than double buying line over and over again.

I'm going to try kK floro. Its $12.50 for 300yds of 30# floro! Good reviews too. Except for topwater because it says it sinks to fast...Not a fan of their reels either. But I'm a little bias because I get reels from Penn lol...

I really like KastKing’s new braid, KastPro. Made in the United States too! No wind knots yet, decently slick and casts far. Definitely impressed with it and I don’t buy powerpro anymore because of it.
