I saw a Fisker Karma when I was driving on the highway one day. Hands down one of the most striking car designs I've ever seen in person, and that's saying a lot. I still think it's an extremely compelling design, it's just too bad they had so many flaws.

My dad was one of the many employees who were laid off in 2012. But he absolutely loves this car and is over the moon that they didn't let it die. He thinks of it as his baby. About them choosing Valmet Automotive all the way in Finland to build the first cars: They're a contract manufacturer who started out building Saabs, but have since built cars for a whole bunch of brands, including Porsche and are currently building cars for Mercedes Benz. During the Porsche building days the union in Germany complained so they took two one car off the line in Finland, one off the line in Germany and took them apart to see which one was put together better, whereafter the union shut up. Thus if you don't know their history having them build your cars may sound like a really weird thing to do, but if you consider we're talking about a start-up trying to build luxury cars, them contracting manufacturing to a company that's previously built Porches better than Porsche themselves it completely makes sense.

Having seen a Fisker in person in 2012, I was blown away by how cool it was/how beautiful it was. Then I got closer to it and standing next to it on the driver side when it was running on the gas engine was noxious and unpleasant. Just standing on the outside looking in, the interior looked SUPER shoddy quality. But then you stepped back and it just looked incredible for a 4 door. One of these would be perfect with a Tesla swap

I see a couple of Fiskers driving around my city pretty frequently. One black and the other shiny, shiny chrome. Super cars like Lambos and Mclarens are pretty common around here but the Fisker still turns my head.

A boss who believes in the importance of engineering, even if he doesn't do it himself, is very different to a boss who believes in the importance of appearance over all else. I've no idea how involved in the engineering Musk is, or how involved in the design Fisker was - but I'd rather have a car that's well engineered personally. That said, the Fisker certainly looks interesting, even though I personally don't like the length of the hood & the way it seems to get slightly lower towards the cab from a higher point earlier, makes the car look broken to me, though I'm aware there are other American cars that seem to pick this style so maybe it's a culture thing.

My dad owned one of the 2012 versions in 2016, and honestly we must’ve been lucky because ours had no problems, it was a very comfortable car from what I remember and one of the coolest cars I’ve ever been in

If a Police Department had ordered a Fisker Karma, would that be called the Karma Police? Anyway, it was a fitting name for the product that emerged from spending money you don't own, and taking taxpayer money without bringing the factory to US. Luckily for everyone, the Chinese brought the factory to California and fixed the mess.

Massive fleets of electric taxis that looks and runs like Corellas have been workhorses in Chinese cities for more than a decade, with little fanfare and no hype. This says something of the national characteristics of China vs America. When they make an electric car, it costs $13k and you can't even tell it's electric until you turn it on and there's no engine noise. When we do, it costs $80k and comes with all the hype and sleekness of a polished turd.

The Fisker Karma had a great appareance. Its biggest flaw was the fact that it was a hybrid. Throw the gas engine out, put a 100kwh battery in with a RW-drive electric motor and you have a badass car.

@@bjorn1583 Not really, our economy would just implode. We're on cheap diesel life support, and the folks who have to drive the farthest to get to work are usually the people least able to afford EVs. I like EVs, I like them a lot, but we don't have, and will never get, the necessary infrastructure to support them

I feel super bad for people who bought a fisker. You basically just got screwed. Nothing you can do about it. Nobody will work on it and it's not like you can take it into a dealership.

Just to clear it up: The combustion engine does not drive the wheels directly. It works as a range extender for the electric motors, driving a generator and thus generating electricity. The same way a BMW i3 with the optional range extender does.

Still remember the first time I seen a Fisker, I was walking through a mall in San Jose and they had one on display back in 2011 or 2012, always thought they looked kind of weird but the styling has grown on me since then.

Didn't know about the resurrection of the truly beautiful design and reissue by 2017! Hope it continues to be a success

i had #46 out of the firts 100 fiskers ...i loved it ...kept it 6 years ...sold it ....now i have 2019 karma revero #77 of the firts 100 i love it even more ...i agree with your vidio 100% .....all the issues fisker had are fix.....has bigger battery pack..0 to 60 4.5.. better looking rims..the inside is awesome ..infotaiment is outstanding ...my cash has been spent very wise this time
