Simon not understanding the reason people get fined more the richer they are is so strange for me. Obviously they should pay more, because fines should always be based on income since it's supposed to punish you. If 60 pounds is punishing a poor guy, it's only tickling a rich guy. The rich guy and poor guy murdering somebody is a great example but not a great point of view from all three. If a rich guy and a poor guy both kill someone the exact same way they should both get the same time. The punishment in the example is based on punishment on the lifespan and since you cannot predict how long someone can live you just have a sentence that on average would be the same % of years off of people's life for everyone. But with fines it's not the same thing if you take the same amount of money from everyone. Which is why you should fine based on income.
The Swedish ticket system can’t be argued with, Simon getting too rich… 😂The point of the fines is to stop you from parking/speeding somewhere you shouldn’t for mainly safety purposes. So the fine needs to be significant enough to be a deterrent from doing it. If a speeding ticket was 6p I’d pay it every day until I get sent down for hitting someone 😂 I don’t know why I felt the need to say that but there you go 😂😂

basically sidecast is 7 guys with those bad opinions all affirming themselves lol
simon aint getting the point. a £50 fine for someone like my mum would hurt more than £50 for him, but thats an odd outcome if the crime committed is the same. if my mum speeds 90 and simon speeds 90 but my mum feels the consequence WAYY more than simon does, then we would wanna say smthns gone wrong there. it obviously means either 1) we need to have something like points in place which affects us all the same no matter how rich you are or 2) fine at a staggered rate depending on your income. if you dont do something about it, it becomes weird where for some reason poor people are punished in a way thats *worse* than the rich person even though the punishment is technically the same

Yeah, I think if they'd really emphasized that the fine was a fixed percentage of the person's income instead of a fixed amount, then maybe it would have made more sense to him. And as for the murder comparison, it's just a complete false equivalency.
Simon is so wrong with that speeding fine take. How can you mention JJ not caring about finishing last in FFeb because he can pay the forfeit and proceed to argue against that Sweden fine. Fine literally needs to make you second guess your actions against it, fine needs to hurt your budget. If you are wealthy, ofc you won't care about £50 fine and you'll probably brake law again... Yes there are points, but most (regular, not rich) people care about money side let's be real here.

Simon should realise how fines and white collar crimes like such, are classist. Randy said it perfectly, if you’re rich you can park anywhere and not worry about fines. However, if you have little money you are punished more harshly for the same crime as they have less money. This is not okay, why should the poor people be punished worse in a world where the rich get richer? The crime is the crime, and should equally affect each person. So, the fine should be depending on the wages rather then be a set amount for the crime.
@charliescoulding6324

I think what the guys were struggling with is the difference between a civil and criminal offence. As long as a speeding ticket is paid on time it's a civil offence not criminal. I agree that civil offences are classist but shouldn't be. Criminal offences, where it relates to permanent records and jail time, should be uniform for all regardless of income. (I know very little about the law so correct me if I'm wrong)

that's how the rich stay rich: making the poor poorer. it is extremely classist. i've been watching the sidemen for a loooonng time but the more i listen to them on podcasts/sidecast the less i like them as individuals. they are capitalist at heart and idk about you but i've never met somebody extremely wealthy that hasn't fucked people over (in order to gain wealth) OR really doesn't care enough about the general population to really help. yes, you can make the argument that they donate more than i do (most do because i'm poor and spend a large amount of my earnings on other people/experiences) but we shouldn't have to rely on big donations to save people, in my opinion. we should, as compassionate humans, have a system that helps everybody. not just the ones who've made the most money, usually in a shitty/cheesy way. the sidemen say it themselves all the time: they've scammed a living. it's not wrong to want to make money, at all... but greed is very real and under capitalism it's even encouraged/expected. sorry, long ass comment but i been thinking all this for a while.

@@stupididit6799 i agree with watching too many podcasts from them/people in their circle and liking them less. whenever it gets too serious and views on politics, money, cancel culture, or like women/feminism get brought up, i disagree with pretty much everything they say. it feels like they come from a very close-minded view, which, tbf, makes sense. From a young age they were rich and haven't had a lot of the life experiences to see other perspectives. doesn't stop them from talking about everything like it's fact tho lol idk i had to stop watching the Fellas bc of subtle misogyny. I was listening to Growing Paynes the other day and stopped the ep bc I didn't want to hear what Ethan was going to say about feminism. i don't do well with opinions i disagree with so that's on me for avoiding them, but it sucks when you realize that people you've spent a significant amount of time watching are kinda shitty sometimes

I think a lot of rich people are lowkey conservative but pretend to be progressive (or maybe actually think they actually are) to fit in with society. Rich people will always protect their own interests, so it makes sense that they’d be conservative when it has to do with money
