Always loved my coily curl pattern especially when I was waving. I had the best of both worlds whenever it came to shine and depth of curly hair and with the ease of my hair waving up fast and having low cuts as someone with kinky hair. The best thing to focus on regardless of curl pattern when waving is “hair health”.Great informative video JLew!💯

Course, medium or straight/fine is broad designations of hair. We have varying degrees within each hair type. So the average person speaks of hair types with these broad designations. Very deep and informative video JLew. Keep up the great work.

Just found your channel yesterday. Lot of great info! I have some what wavy but really fine hair. I tried du rags in the past but they just flattened my hair completely(probably product I was using with Du rag was to thick?) I’m just curious if I have hope?

This video was very informative because I'm noticing that I have different textures in my head the back seems to be really curly the sides seems to be straight the top look medium texture my hair texture looks very similar to drop faze and wavy the King in the coily hair category .

Love this video Jlew. We do have a lot of self hate, and people that will misguide you in the black community. I have curly/kinky hair and I wash my hair any time from every 2 weeks to every month. People always think it’s nasty, but when I break down that straighter hair can wash more frequently because the oils in their scalp travel straight down their hair, whereas with curly hair it has to travel around each curl/loop, so that’s why the hair tends to be dryer and thus needs less frequent washing than straighter hair types

My hair type was altered in the last 5 years I was coming from a 4a to a 2c now and I want my curls back

The video was very informative and educational 💯 but I do have question about 4c/kinky hair. I fall under that hair type , I haven’t been doing waves for a few months because I just wanted to see how long my hair grows and it seems like it’s at a stand still like my hair is dry and is shedding … a lot. So why isn’t my hair growing anymore? Is it because I have high porosity 4c hair ??

I see how ur defining the hair types but im Puerto Rican my hair is nappy and curly but isn’t t the same type of curly your showing so do different ethnicities have different types of curls or every race falls under this chart of hair types

I was think the same thing it makes no sense, how would the spectrum be from Coarse(thick strands) to Straight(no curl pattern) and medium doesn’t even fit in it at all
