Keep a couple chargers around and a mobile jump pack for the subaru, my 2017 legacy has a recall for parasitic draw and every few months, itll die out of the blue

Always a good tip, better safe than sorry. Weird coincidence that I was using a Subaru in the video and you have a Subaru.

As far as receipts go, I understand the frustration because no one keeps receipts for years. But the receipt is not to prove ownership, it's to prove you bought it because the warranty only applies to the original purchaser. Now if only CTEK would start selling replacement clamp shells again, because those things break all the time and now they don't sell just the shells.

I hear you on those cheap clamp covers, haha. I like when companies warranty the product itself, regardless of who owns it. Look up the serial number, see if it’s under warranty, either cover it or don’t. Sort of like how a car can change ownership many times over but regardless of who owns it, if the model year and mileage fall under warranty then it’s covered by the factory warranty. Tying it to ownership is a just a clever way for companies to get out of paying warranty claims.

@@suburbanacreage Oh I know. Companies like to give the impression they have a good long warranty because they believe in their product but it comes with restrictions. And I always laugh when they have a lifetime warranty because it's useless if they go out of business. It's just a tactic to make their products appear better than it is. I'm going to try hot gluing the clamp shell. The plastic clip that snaps into place near the mouth of the clamp is what breaks. That area really needs to be beefed up more. Or maybe it's by design to get customers to buy another set of clamps, which is so wasteful.

Seems odd that they rebuilt it. Was it not made in China,? LOL Most places just send a new one and tell ya to toss the old one.

But 2015 is over 5 years ago?

The charger was purchased in May of 2018 and the warranty claim was handled in the fall of 2022
