I am grateful for these videos I have an exchange student in my home, I am trying best to make sure she feels safe and comfortable, she is an amazing kid. Thank you for the truth and reality of exchange year.

I am glad you brought this I never ask her to clean or watch my kids, I feel bad even when she offers to help with anything, I just ask her clean up after herself and follow the rules the program asked her to.

@@katlizski Don't worry. It is completely normal to make her clean up after herself, to make her take care of her own laundry and to participate in household chores the way you would make your own kids participate. What I talked about is when things are taken too far and when it is clear that the student has been brought into the family to work instead of be a teenager experiencing a different culture. I am sure you're doing great. Don't let yourself be discouraged from integrating her into household activities, it will make her feel part of the family if she is being treated like everyone else

Wow! That's some tough truth there, but necessary to get the whole story told. (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, as we say...) I've known people who are "dirty" housekeepers; it is kind of pathological at that level, and they really do not see the mess. Kind of sad in some ways.
