The TROUT POLICE Won't Like This! Stocked Trout Explained (Realistic)

Спорт

The trout police wont like this! Today on Realistic Fishing, stocked trout explained. I constantly get comments telling me to "wet my hands" and "you are killing the fish". These people obviously don't understand the concept of seasonal stocked trout. I break down how the fish get to the creek. I explain why the trout are here. And I even show you how to catch them! I use a couple of different baits today and explain why I am using them. The trout police want to tell everyone how to fish for trout, but sometimes, they don't know what they are talking about. #fishing #realistic

I’m so thankful for the conservationists who strive to promote the proper harvesting of wild trout. These natural trout species need to be protected. I am also very thankful for the State Wildlife Resource Agency trout hatchery and the various sticking programs in my area. These stocked fish allow a guy like me to go out and enjoy a day of stocked trout fishing every now and then. The stocked trout also provide a tasty meal for me and my family. I appreciate you taking us along on your videos. God bless y’all. - Tennessee Smoky

Kudos, Alex, on the lesson for others on the difference between stocked trout and other fish. Often, keyboard warriors don't have much else to do than try to shame others for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Great trout today. Fun seeing the change of species. Our local stocked ponds are overstocked year round. There are usually more fish in the pond than can be supported by the pond itself. This is done intentionally. The fish are there for the local population to catch. Many raptors, cranes, seagulls, and cormorants eat from these ponds as well. Left to their own, most of these fish would die due to lack of resources, those dead fish would then contaminate the pond and kill off the rest of the fish. Outside of leaving the fish on the shore too long or gilling the fish with your hook, nothing you could do in general catch and release is going to harm stocked trout to the point of causing an earlier demise than usual.

That is a video that needed to be made, some folks feel they have to apply wild trout standards to stocked trout. I really appreciate those trout stocking programs, most of my fishing is catch and release Bass fishing, so it's a treat to bring home some beautiful and tasty trout during the Winter.

I moved to a rural community recently that has two ponds that are stocked with trout annually, and that's what our HOA dues mainly go to. It's fun to just hang out down the road from the house and just drop a hook and reel in some trout. I'm not big into fishing but it is a great way to spend a nice day by the water.

@@RealisticFishing, I live in Colorado and hear all the same things. We have some remote lakes where they drop stocked trout from helicopters. I’ve had idiots tell me how fragile these trout are and how you have to wet your hands and don’t hold them to tightly. If you drop them they could be brain damaged, they say. I say, “They’re bred for us to catch and eat. They drop them out of helicopters into some lakes or shoot them through a hose into others. We have native trout and they should be handled differently.

In Ohio they are raised in fish farm ponds in natural lake water fed pellet’s but are released in late spring mainly into reservoirs. They’re all caught before summer it seems. Here it’s salmon eggs or corn and the trout bait marshmallows. Ground will still be frozen so no worms. They release at 12-14 inches.

The only reason I use a net is because I've lost a few trout without one. Stock trout are going to die unless the water temp is at least below 70 degrees. I mostly fish for trout in the mountains in East Tennessee so I'm a little more careful with the small ones I don't keep. I have caught a few wild ones in stocked areas ,but that's in year round cold waters. Great video. When the bass ain't biting much go trout fishing. I like it better anyway. Very true. As far the fly fishing is concerned absolutely you can have success with flies but i feel like they're not so keen on dry flies but they'll attack aggressively on small streamers like wooly buggers cause you actually use them like a lure with enticing movements vs just a boring dead drift. Yes for aesthetic purposes, the scenery, better quality of fish and lack of people i prefer fishing for wild trout up in the mountains but now living in Texas Oklahoma is my closest option for any trout fishing. Broken bow is very crowded but there's some cool waterfalls and plenty of stocked fish that i either catch with wooly buggers or pull out the spinning tackle and throw on a crawler or a grasshopper. What i dont understand is how there's size restrictions and CnR only waters for fish that are all stockers. Protecting them as if they're wild and naturally spawning 😂

Yea fly fishing stock trout is frustrating. Best route for success is skip the dry flies and go right to pellet shaped mop flys off the bottom.

Sup Alex, great video, our club pond is stocked 4 times a year, and over 20 years been there Everytime to sign for delivery. We limit keeping trout to 3 a day, so lots of trout in there lol. Fly fisherman catch them by the dozens, people use power bait but extremely tiny hooks they have to keep them, usually hook rips them up. Other ponds and lakes, and rivers and creeks get stocked. We have 1 river/creek system that areas are stocked but still have some native trout but low numbers, only true method to tell there is the flesh. Idk why people believe the old wives tales? I did when was a kid lol. But meeting people from the hatcheries and department of environmental management get the truth. Unless you're keeping more than limit, or breaking other laws, nobody should judge how you fish!! Guess they have sad lives? Tyvm tc 🎣

@@RealisticFishing yup 100%, watch every video and know of a few trout had to keep, including 1 recently, that's what I do but think said I don't eat them but we have a common freezer for members down on luck. When was a kid was told had to handle trout with a towel, until found that actually harms them. We do appreciate what you do for fishing, and environment, wish these people stop policing others and spend time cleaning the environment 👍

@@RealisticFishing I blame the over-romanticizing of trout fishing/fly fishing in the media (i.e. A River Runs Through It). People think that trout are their ticket to deeper spiritual understanding, and they buy into the uncompromising ultra-conservation because they are told by "experts" that is what they need to do. Honestly, I could go on for paragraphs about this.

I crush stocked trout while fly fishing. I do way better than with bait(Berkely, pautzke, etc), literally 5 to 1. I generally fish a small stocked lake, but even in streams flies do better. just my 2 cents.
