This Guy is not annoying. He loves the Bike and his commentary is spot on. I am 69 years old, 1.72meters short and weigh 55kg and have done 68'000 wonderful km on my Rocket3. But ..... its NOT a Bike for someone who has no or little experience riding big Bikes. Go up the "Ladder" of cc, learn as much as possible about riding Bikes safely, attend as many "Track Days" as you possibly can and then .... get the Rocket! Give yourself time. You will not regret it. Should You have lots of experience already, and many, many Bikers have, take a ride/drive/walk to the Triumph Agent NOW. A good move me thinkzzz. Welcome to the RAT.

I have the same R3, it took me nearly 12 months to really get the feel off it but now I wouldn't swap it for anything. Biggest tip is when cornering push down on the high side foot peg and push forward the high side hand grip. There's no substitute for cubic inches.🥰

The turning is because of that 240 back tyre. My bike is the Touring with hard bags. Love it. Torky. Like a Belgian blue. Makes u feel like you could tow a trailer with it. And like you the only thing I miss when I ride is that V-twin loap. It's going to be hard to trade in but if I do I'm looking at the new Indian.

I own a Triumph Rocket III along with a few other running bikes and a few that one day I will figure out how to fix. To the point, you have saved my mental state. I have always felt like riding the Rocket was like riding one of those souped up German tractors (actual tractor). I thought it was just me. Thank you.

Put yourself down for a "that boy" great job on your reviews. Couldn't help putting myself in your shoes, I purchased a new 2018 Rocket on the cheap as they make room for the redesign 2020 Rocket that is even bigger (2500cc). I believe the 2010's and above resolved all the issues the you bring up on this 2005 model. I find the Rocket a interesting mix of cruiser and sport bike, the newer models have very good handling with almost no vibration. I have 5 bikes (Triumphs and Harley) but no other bike puts a bigger smile on my face than the Rocket 3 when I am riding it!

I'm so thrilled that you have the opportunity to ride the rocket, bro this is the bike of all motorcycles, the power will and can certainly get you into trouble, but it can also if you ride her sensibly get you out of trouble. I have the 2005 R3 with less than 2700 miles on it, and I wouldn't ride anything else. Dude you have to get this bike, the new one's have the pegs four inches back and the secondary throttle bodies have been removed but the power is, well nothing can touch it and this bike has remained the same for eleven years, you can't tamper with something like this once you've got it right; I know you will enjoy this ride and ride within your own limits "Be Safe"

Your commentary is great and sum up the thoughts of most who ride a Rocket for the first time. Mine sounds like a Porsche when ridden slowly and a tractor on nitro when opened up. The suspension was softened up a little on later models and by now you know the bars are aftermkt. The original bars with those weights you noted hardly vibrate at all.

I'm on my 2nd Rocket III now, a 2012 R3 Touring. My 1st was an '07 Rocket III Classic Tourer (not Touring) similar to what you're riding here. Vibration through the handlebars on either is extremely minimal unlike the H-D which gives you a full body massage. The drag-style bars on the bike here are aftermarket and probably don't have the vibration dampening mounts like the factory originals. The rake angle is 32 degrees and the rear tire is 240mm section, so it doesn't corner like a sport bike. After 2 of these, I wouldn't ride anything else. I just wish that Triumph had a little thicker accessory catalog. #Color me spoiled!

You are in the unique position of having had a Chieftain, a Roadmaster, and a Victory Cross Country Tour (loaner / rental?) that you can compare to the Vision. One of those four will be my next motorcycle.

These earlier models had various issues...that really didnt get sorted til 2008.....from there on...no major problems...they are quite a complex machine and you really need to know your stuff to play around with them. Not really a diy machine....changing the oil is not straight forward.....because of dry sump....you have to remove 3 plugs in order to drain the oil tank and the residual oil in the crankcase/gearbox. Changing the rear tire is quite a mission and you can easily damage the bead on new tire if you are not carefull....lots of lube required...and must be done slowly to give the new tire bead time to settle.....the tire is very tight on the rim...otherwise the rim could spin in the tire. Back tires are only good for 4ooo to 8000miles....particularly if you use the power....or you could get even less.bla bla bla

There were no changes whatsoever in power between 2015 and 2016, either. All the roadsters have very close to the same power output. I'm not sure what you think changed in 2016 specifically. I have a 2015 with the exact same numbers as yours. They didn't even bother changing the color for several years. It's the exact same bike from 2015-2018

No engine removal should be required. The Triumph service manual merely states to remove cam cover to be able to check and in case of actually adjusting, it requires removal of camshaft, but nothing about removing engine. Per the pdf version I have, here's instruction for adjusting: 1. Measure and record all valve clearances as described previously. 2. Remove the camshafts (see page 3.9). 3. Remove a shim from one of the valves whose clearance required adjustment. 4. Measure the original shim, using a micrometer. 5. Calculate the shim thickness required to give the correct clearance. Clearance too small; fit a thinner shim. Clearance too large; fit a thicker shim.

You can buy a used R3 for around $4k, it's a heck of a lot of bike for the money, I have a 2009, Triumph refined a few things since the 2005 model, the R3 just eats up road effortlessly, when cruising at 90 (on a private cough cough) road in 5th just open up the throttle and in seconds you're at 120.....no backfiring from my R3 and no vibration to speak of, the bars on the bike in the vid are not original, and when you buy a R3 you don't have to go out and start buying accessories, I haven't spent a dime on mine in extras, doesn't need anything... as for competing with other motorcycles I never get that, just ask yourself this one question; would ride this bike from Florida to Los Angeles?.....I would

You know you dont have to put your visor down to not look directly into the sun, you could just not look directly at the sun. As a Rocket III owner if you are getting a bunch of vibration in the handle bars that bike has issues. Obviously a lot of this is opinion based, but some people make it sound like if you are at a stop light and twist the throttle the bike is going to get ripped from your hands and role over on top of you, I dont even know what to say about that cause i dont notice anything of the sort. I would agree that the bike handles heavy at a low spead as in moving around a parking lot, but unless you have a flat front tire it corners like a sport bike. My bike has stock shocks and I would say its not fun going down a bumpy road, but this bike wasnt meant to ride like a Goldwing. A soft suspension doesnt pair well with what I would consider a performance bike. As for the sound of it, well ive never heard a tractor rev to 6 grand. But do think it sounds a bit like a diesel. Especially with the shorty exhaust it damn near sounds like a turbo diesel. This bike certainly isnt for everyone but people should get scared away from it because of the engine size. It handles like a much smaller bike.

If drag racing is your only concern. You don't realise how good a Rocket is until you ride one for hours at 100mph. The R3 is an all rounder. The vmax vrod dievel are not really comparable to the R3. It should be compared to other 800lb bikes like an Interstate, C109r Roadking etc.

FYI: You are in 3rd gear not second and you almost hit that red car who changed his mind about turning right since you stayed in the right lane.

Top heavy and floppy!!!? What the hell are you talking about its one of the most well balanced bikes you will ride! Weight distribution on the rocket is first class. Stick to ya harleys pal.

lol, I don't ride a Harley. For me, having ridden and reviewed a lot of different bikes, this did indeed feel top heavy and was not a crisp handler. I even owned it for a while but still felt the same. You're welcome to disagree - these are just my opinions :)

this bike competition is m109r, yamaha vmax, diavel in my opinion. m109r very primitive, rocket in the middle, vmax sport cruiser, diavel all new modern sport cruiser.

It's a in-line 3 cylinder (gas) Like a 3 or 4 cylinder Gas tractor, nothing resembling Diesel.. come stay at a farm sometime, and introduce yourself to tractors. Nice to see how the suspension works (or doesn't) and the excessive or uncomfortable vibration. It has better looking Brake reservoir than some (esp the horrible looking reservoirs on the late model Indians. ...lol.."you can turn it when you need too" . Btw, you did as so many that have pipes on the right side (mostly Harley folks) and just showed the right side of the bike, did you notice??

Pointless riding the rocket crawling along at 2000rpm .Twist the bloody throttle to the stop and hang on .Throw it into a corner with a some aggression and it's fine .It's a power cruiser but you missed that part. You might want blip your throttle on the down shift and change up with a bit of load on the motor to make it change smoother.

Yes but the handling is the handling of a real motorcycle, not some chicken shit Japanese ring a ding ding! The only thing I would change is I would give it 8 inch semi high handlebars. This would make it more comfortable and relaxing. The only thing I would change is I would give it 8 inch semi-hi handlebars. This would make it more comfortable and relaxing. GO TRIUMPH FOREVER!!

Around 8 minutes mark you spend a while cruising in the outside lane whilst inside is empty and there's an SUV showing in your mirrors. Not cool. Move over.
