The Nicene Creed: An Introduction
patristicnectar.org/bookstore_220620_112222211
The Nicene Creed is the singular and universal statement of faith of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. It possesses complete authority in the Orthodox Church and is recited in every Divine Liturgy, and daily in the prayers of the faithful. In these lectures, the Christian faith is summarized, and the content of the Creed itself is examined so that the “faith once delivered to the saints” can be known, embraced, and lived.
Lecture 1 The History and Use of the Nicene Creed
Lecture 2 The Almighty God
Lecture 3 Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Lecture 4 The Holy Spirit
Lecture 5 The One Church

This is so timely and incredibly helpful. I've been in the Church for over 25 years and feel like I've just started to begin to truly pray, and I have so many distractions, scattered thoughts, lack of attention, etc. When I pray in the morning, my thoughts are focused about things I need to do to get ready for the day or about things that have been bothering me. Prayer at night is very distracted, too. I kept wondering why it felt like I was going backward in my prayer and spiritual life in spite of struggling to be more focused and vigilant. The amount of times I catch my mind wandering at prayer is very discouraging, so it's good to know that I'm not alone in this, but that i need to continue to struggle. Thank you. ♥️ ☦️

So interesting! Exactly how they continually convince me to work on my projects to late at night. Yesterday was such an example where I worked late. I wanted to attend the Great Thursday liturgy today. The demons won this round. I slept too long because of it.... The more we become aware and most of all *pray unceasingly* as Saint Paul says, the better defense against the evil one we get. We continually need to work on our defense by Gods help

I love that comments were allowed on this video. Father Josiah, Saint Cyprian is my patron saint. My baptismal name is Cipriana. My spiritual Father was originally Father Nicholas from All Saints in NC and he allowed me to choose him as my patron saint because of me coming from a family steeped in the occult and me personally living a very similar life as his. Now my spiritual Father is Father David. It means a lot to me that you mentioned him and that you ask for his prayers. I am a long time listener and fan of your videos and I thank you so much for all of your work. To explain how much my life has changed, now I love reading the Psalter and praying and making prayer ropes. I try so hard to live my life for Christ and I have much more work to do.

The attacks if they’re not occurring daily, that should be your reminder that your spirit with its light stands strong. The devil can only prey on the weak, as the weak have all sorts of incapabilities within them that the devil can entice. People think it’s a joke and kinda cool to be of the dark side till that very thing spits you out once done with you and destroys you from the inside out. That’s because they’re short term and here and now thinkers and have ability to think about what happens here after. He cannot seep through anything solid. Plus with the devil you probably end up catching some stds, whilst being of the light teaches you to be untouchable.

Remember, reading a book more like a pamphlet when I was in Bible school, called tyranny of the urgent in this book did not talk about prayer specifically although it did mention that the main premise behind this little 2530 page book was the Devil will use anything to stop you from doing the most important thing we all have urgent things in our lives our jobs tasks we got to complete for a job task with her wife tasks with her homework or work at home all these tasks that are so urgent that we have to do. They are urgent, but the most critical thing is our Bible our prayer time, our liturgy, and this is most important but the urgent thing in our lives push this most important thing out of the way at least the trays to God help me to pay attention to the critical thing and not the urgent

Father, Please forgive me as I will likely be the only dissident who will mention anything disagreeable here. But first, Father, thank you so much for these wonderful teachings! I'm troubled by the Saint's lack of responsibility to his young sibling. Children's emotional needs were neglected cruelly in those days it seems. Life was hard. It seems that in the case of his little sister this was the situation. Complete abandonment other than leaving her with others to complete her upbringing. Wow. St John Chrysostom as a very young priest from what I've read, and perhaps my eyes played tricks on me, or I read the writings of a heterodox, God forbid ( 😮) but St Chrysostom apparently encouraged strongly parents to abandon their young children to monasteries and then to disregard their sacred marriage vows and abandon each up to monasteries too. I have prayerfully pondered this and now I try not to think about the excruciating suffering he caused the children by parents tearing their own children from themselves and all bc they were mislead to believe that their was something sinful about the physical aspect of husband and wife. As I write, the thought of being that young man's mother comes to my mind as being his mom, I'd have knocked some Holy Spirit sense into him! The destruction of the family is not what the Orthodox Christians (including lowly catechumens) would dare to support before our blessed Lord. Apparently as the Saint-to-be grew in wisdom his ideas about marriage and family changed and he broke up less and less families, thanks be to God! But, yeah, wow! If this had been the later action of let's say a Protestant minister, I think we'd all condemn this behavior of abandoning one of a parent's and spouse's highest family responsibilities---the godly upbringing of one's own children. I'm sickened at the thought of the children's suffering, not to mention that of the parents who should've known better one would think. There was no mention in the text of parents not being able to care or feed their children. The reason given by the author had something to do with the young immature priest's disdain for the union of the husband and wife sleeping together. Wow! Abbot Tryphon (ROCOR) of Vashon Island in British Columbia has condemned the modern teaching of one priest whose teaching was that the husband and wife put their beds in the nice basement they had in two separate rooms there so as not to have mutual consolation as they grew older. They did not like this guidance. Nor did Abbot Tryphon. It is always the easy way for a spiritual director to guilt anyone suffering with the unempathic guidance to just "stop whining. And be gone with ye! You were meant to suffer and go do it. I have no consolation or help for you, other than to shame you for bringing up your abuses!" Thank God for Abbot Tryphon and Father Spyridon who are gentle and unabusive. Rant over. And my sincere apologies if I've been perceived as disrespectful, harsh, or hurt anyone's feelings. It was not my intention at all and I'm sorry. Thank you Father, and anyone who might bother to read this comment. After all I'm just a professed Benedictine becoming a well read catechumen. I'm not even chrismated yet and that must be the will of God at this time. Glory be to God. Edited only for spelling and sentence structure. Im sure there are errors for which I'll blame my phone. Thank you Father et al.

The anger of the Yahweh = Satan Compare these two verses: 2 Samuel 24: 1 Again the anger of the Yahweh burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.” and: 1 Chronicles 21:1 Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel. 🤔 19 Bible results for “Yahweh's anger” from Names of God Bible: Numbers 25:4 Yahweh said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of the people, and execute them in broad daylight in Yahweh’s presence. This will turn Yahweh’s anger away from Israel.” Deuteronomy 9:19 I was terrified of Yahweh’s anger and fury. He was so angry he wanted to destroy you. But once more Yahweh listened to me. Deuteronomy 29:20 Yahweh will never be willing to forgive that person, because Yahweh’s burning anger will smolder against him. All the curses described in this book will happen to him. Yahweh will erase every memory of that person’s name from the earth. 2 Kings 22:13 “On behalf of the people, all of Judah, and me, ask Yahweh about the words in this book that has been found. Yahweh’s fierce anger is directed towards us because our ancestors did not obey the things in this book or do everything written in it.” 2 Chronicles 19:2 Jehu, son of the seer Hanani, asked King Jehoshaphat, “Why do you help wicked people and love those who hate Yahweh? Yahweh’s anger is directed toward you because you have done this. 2 Chronicles 34:21 “On behalf of those who are left in Israel and Judah and me, ask Yahweh about the words in this book that was found. Yahweh’s fierce anger has been poured on us because our ancestors did not obey the word of Yahweh by doing everything written in this book.” Isaiah 51:17 Wake Up, Jerusalem Wake up! Wake up! Stand up, Jerusalem! You drank from the cup in Yahweh’s hand. That cup was filled with his anger. You drank from the bowl, the cup that makes people stagger, and you drained it! Jeremiah 4:8 So put on sackcloth, mourn, and cry because Yahweh’s burning anger hasn’t turned away from us. Jeremiah 25:37 The peaceful pastures are destroyed by Yahweh’s burning anger. Jeremiah 30:24 Yahweh’s burning anger will not turn back until he has done everything he intends to do. In the last days you will understand this clearly. Jeremiah 36:7 Maybe their prayers will come into Yahweh’s presence, and they will turn from their evil ways. Yahweh has threatened these people with his terrifying anger and fury.” Jeremiah 50:13 No one will live in Babylon because of Yahweh’s anger. It will be completely abandoned. Everyone who passes by Babylon will be horrified and hiss at all its wounds. Lamentations 2:22 You have invited those who terrorize me on every side, as though they were invited to a festival. No one escaped or survived on the day of Yahweh’s anger. My enemy has murdered the children I nursed and raised.” Lamentations 3:66 Pursue them in anger, and wipe them out from under Yahweh’s heaven.” Lamentations 4:11 Yahweh’s fury has accomplished his purpose. He unleashed his burning anger. He started a fire in Zion that even burned its foundations. Ezekiel 7:19 They will throw their silver and gold into the streets like garbage. Their silver and gold won’t be able to rescue them on the day of Yahweh’s anger. It will no longer satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs. Their silver and gold caused them to fall into sin. Zephaniah 1:18 Their silver and their gold will not be able to rescue them on the day of Yahweh’s overflowing fury. The whole earth will be consumed by his fiery anger, because he will put an end, a frightening end, to those who live on earth. Zephaniah 2:2 before the decree is carried out and the day passes like windblown husks, before Yahweh’s burning anger comes to you, before the day of Yahweh’s anger comes to you. Zephaniah 2:3 Search for Yahweh, all you humble people in the land who carry out his justice. Search for what is right. Search for humility. Maybe you will find shelter on the day of Yahweh’s anger.

Leviticus 19:31 states: "regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God." Now lets break down this verse. The first part indicates a clear disposition against communicating with the dead, the second part refers to medians being wrong, the third part emphasizes the importance and significance of God. An extremely common theme that runs through the bible is only worshipping God. This theme is summarized by Jesus himself saying in Matthew 4:10 "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve." Worship in the biblical sense includes praying to idols, and an idol is anything that you believe can help you instead of God. So by praying to saints instead of going to God you not only disrespect God but you disrespect Christ who is the head of the body of Christ, who gave said saints the power that you're asking them to give you. Can Cyprian or Justina give you power that which they had to ask Christ for? And you say to yourself: "we are all part of the body of Christ, the power is there's as well!" If that's so then since you're part of the body of Christ than pray to yourself for what you ask for! Repent my friend! Christ in the only King we follow, God is the only Father we have, and the Holy Ghost is the only spirit we should communicate with.

I am a bisexual person who has become so disgusted with the alphabet soup I can no longer even enjoy an art form I used to be a prize winner in. I miss costuming but I deplore modern lgbtqiabcdefg. I'm not changing my channel because it's an old archive of my work but I am no longer adding to it. There will come a day when my hypersexuality (thanks trauma) and needs of the flesh interfere too greatly with my spiritual journey. I'm an Antiochian Orthodox wife (to another bisexual but a man) but I am also a person with a different sexuality. I wish the church had a better way to address this. I went to both my fathers (co priests) and to the cathedral but no one really knows how to address these things. It's past time to figure it out. Simply saying "Don't." and condemning a person to a life of celibacy which most are not made out for (Paul says this in 2 Corinthians I want to say chapter 7 where he talks about the roles of marriage) is not the way. In 1000 BC or 1500 AD we had much tighter family structures where aunts and uncles were in the home raising children. My marriage is 100% infertile (testicular cancer double orchiectomy) and I'm a high pregnancy risk (seizures and severe post partum depression risk due to brain injury). The church doesn't have an answer for infertile couples either. it's been 10 years together 7 married so I've come to terms with it as much as anyone can but if the point of marriage is children as Paul seems to promote them what are we? Dead? I have come to the best conclusions I can through contemplative prayer and what little guidance the church has (basically none on this topic other than be a monk).

You are not Orthodox Christian if you are continually commiting sin. Also how do you expect to be healed when you continue to commit the sin destroying your soul. It is not possible to be healed physically when you are not willimg to heal yourself spiritually.

It must be a tough struggle for you to go through this… I’m sorry to hear this. May God be your helper To take this struggle forward though, I would really aim at establishing a sacramental life and putting the fertility issue at the side at first for a while in order to get spiritual order and a habit of prayer, fasting, confession, communion and good deeds. Attend monasteries and purify your soul… Christ will assist you in healing, especially through the Eucharist. But he expects your cooperation through sincere repentance and participation in church life. Establishing an orderly spiritual life is important if you want God to miraculously give you a child. Nothing is impossible with God, remember that! (Luke 1,37) Praying the Akathist to St Nicholas or the Theotokos or Joachim and Anna can help with infertility. The Church also has quite some resources on this issue. Here’s an example: www.goarch.org/documents/32058/2618758/infertility-resources.pdf/c516a44e-c161-4f2b-965a-1e3f2e58958a?t=1472725280000

@@nikitasergeev4414 there is a 0% chance as he had both testicles removed almost 8 years ago now. So without adoption (which we may one day do but we no longer actively seek children in our home) or going outside the marriage for sex it's impossible. His sack is flat he no longer has organs that make it. I've made as much peace as I can with the fertility issue. I just wish the church had a suggestion outside monasticism for people who can not bare children.

@@danktankdragkings7117 I do not think that God created us to "only" have children or be celibate. Infertility is not something that you can control, it is obviously a burden God has placed on you for an unknown reason. Many couples are unable to conceive and are financially unable to adopt. For now, focus on knowing, loving, and serving God. Keep striving to overcome sin and He will show you the way forward.
