True stuff especially on the reachback. My throw improved for distance and accuracy when I added a deliberate reachback to my form.

Really appreciated the Ledgestone footage at the beginning! Hey, I've watched other people playing those holes! I think I've been doing one of these things unconsciously. I tilt the disc in my hand before my reach back for throwing flat/anhyzer. Generally seems to work out. Need to practice on the footwork, thanks for the video!

Thank you for putting together such down to earth, easy to understand tutorials. Since starting watching, and really practicing, I've added at least 100' to my drives, and 15' putts are much more comfortable. Sadly, I'm left handed and there is no fixing that, everyone has to learn their limitations (slight sarcasm). Keep it up

Max Hult, if you've got a spinny office chair, try spinning around with your arms and legs out. Then as you're spinning, pull them in close to you. You should notice that you start spinning faster. The same principle can apply here. Watch pros drive and you'll notice their off-arm tucks in close to their body and points straight down when they pull through. The hips can rotate the torso faster if everything is compact. As for your last statement, the body angle and disc angle being different causes off-axis torque, the wobble that you might see. Yeah you can do a hyzerflip like that but it's probably flipping up very quickly and possibly turning and burning. Using the right stability disc and throwing on a slight hyzer (upper body AND disc) will result in a slower and smoother flip. You're not forcing it over in this way like you are by intentionally introducing OAT.

My best advice for the left arm is to let it rise as you reach back, but as you throw you should jam your left hand down the inside of your left leg. That will naturally compress your shoulders and keep them rotating with the shot. Even with upshots and touchy throws it's important to keep your mechanics consistent.

Great video! Lol, I've played for 15 years now. I never paid any attention to my non-throwing (left) arm, didn't even know what I did with it. Until one day a couple years ago, my friend pointed out that I put my left hand on my left thigh with my elbow bent as I pull the disc through with my right arm. It's so weird. I tried to throw without doing that, but it felt so weird. Needless to say, the rest of the round was terrible because i was thinking about it. Still haven't forced myself to stop doing it. I don't even know if it affects my game or not, for all I know, it could be the best thing to do with my left hand, lol.

Hey Danny! Is your plant-foot always in the air when you hit the peak of your reachback? Or would you say its possible to achieve optimal technique when putting your toes down first, and then continuing to planting and spinning on your heel?

I’m at the point that, after about a year, I’m doing 1 or more things wrong with my form, throw, reach back, foot work etc. I watch your videos and granted you make it seem easy enough but still something or things are missing from my throw. I top out at about 300 or 325 feet and I feel from watching your videos that I need a re set button on something I’m doing. I’ve had a learning curve because I’m dominant right hand dominant left foot which makes copying footwork a real nightmare mostly because most right hand throwers are right footed so everything is lead with the right foot any tips for me or am I just overthinking the foot orientation?

This is a 3 year old video... but somehow we both stumbled upon it today so I'll take a crack at answering this. He's saying when throwing a righty backhand shot, if you were to look straight down at your feet, your right foot should be 8-12 inches in front of your back foot. So your right heel lines up with your toes on your left foot.

I can consistently throw 80 meters with a speed 9 disc which is the highest speed disc I currently have in my bag. I have no problems putting power in a hyzer or anhyzer shot and can fairly consistently throw them pretty much where I want but the flat shots is where I struggle the most, so I usually just resort to a hyzer flip when I want to go far and straight canse that is one thing I have gotten fairly decent at during the couple months I have played disc golf. i'm practicing hard shots and standing hard shots every other day and the other days am I practicing putting and precision shots from fairly close ranges. and every saturday am I and 3 other guys that I have lured into the sport out to play a game and have some fun.

I’m curious what you mean about keeping your hand on the outside of the disc? I’m pretty damn sure I’ve been doing the exact opposite. Recently had a major hernia surgery and afterwards my throws suddenly just corrected…..but I still have days where my throws just seem to revert to my old bad forms. The hand on the outside, please elaborate if possible. Hand on outside while holding at body core? Or are you solely talking about on the forward throw?

In the first four drives in the opening, you hold the disc like your going to throw an anhyzer until the moment you finish your reachback then instantly level it and throw a straight shot. Is that something that you recommend?

I noticed, going to tournaments, with courses suiting my game the best. I always played well..the more open courses year me up..tight Woodlands is my cup of tee. Good info on this board. The spring jump putt was best. Not the cheating looking step putt. That most people cheated doing it. Play disc golf religiously for 1 year, no job. You can get 1000 rated. If you got skills, plan b...keep your job. Itll take you 3 to 7 yrs to get there. With hour a day avg practice.. The no job plan.. Is 5 hrs mandatory avg.daily.. the ones that do 8 hrs are more are known as phenoms. The next big name. Nothing is given... It's all earned. Climo did 8hrs a day until he won it all. Then didn't have to do no more, but stay in shape, he knew it all. I'm sure mcbeth was same way if not more practice.

Hi Danny, I'm sure your are already aware of this, but it looks like you are reaching too much behind you and not 'out from the body' which leads to rounding. I've worked extensively on my form the last couple of months, and reaching out (to the point that it initially felt very exaggerated) was the single piece of technical detail that allowed me to get the disk properly in the power pocket (and the left shoulder behind the disk) to really get all the power out from the throw. This also fixed a lot of other technical details like over turning my hips in the reach back.... Look at Simon lizotte: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e6uppLOpj9SYdLw.html

Oh dang you're right. I probably suck at disc golf because I have a full time job and can only make a few big tournaments a year. I'll just step aside and let all these touring pros that are just dying to invest their valuable practice time into creating instructional videos for the masses. /s Kidding! I'm not the best golfer ever. I've won a B-tier and I'm competitive usually wherever I go. I'm working on my form as I go and I've been steadily improving but the process is slow. I know my information is correct, I just haven't been able to spend the time to perfect each minuscule error in my form.

Danny Lindahl also Danny, you don't have to be the worlds best to be great at teaching others how to be their best. Those two skills are not the same and I want to say you are an excellent teacher and not many people can say so well what you say and convey. Keep it up man and don't let people like the guy who commented before me even get to you. You have helped out thousands of disc golfers with their form. That to me is more important and rewarding than winning a few tournaments. You are doing important work right here!
