This is one of the all-time great table card tricks. It is incredibly visual, deceptive, powerful and will leave your spectators unable to figure out how they correctly separated all the black and red cards in the deck.
This trick is officially known as "Out of this World" and was invented by Paul Curry. In Paul Currys book 'Magician's Magic' he describes magician Harry Green performing this trick Winston Churchill. This trick was so deceptive that Churchill was fooled 6 times in a row!
The best part about this card trick is that it is practically self-working and is very easy to do. Make sure you don't only practise the trick itself, but also what you are saying whilst you are performing the magic trick.
Each of my videos takes several days to make so feel free to like and subscribe!

    I've been performing this trick for years but it's better if you do a riffle shuffle at the beginning. Just arrange the deck 13 black 13 red 13 black 13 red then when you split it in half and shuffle it together they're only be one or two in the middle that might be messed up so when you pull out the four for the beginning of the trick you're all set up. The shuffle at the beginning of the trick take this trick to the next level. 👍

    This trick is special to me. In 1978 I was at home with a book on magic I borrowed from the local library. There were lots of tricks in this book with a guide on how to do them. I looked for the hardest one (which was the trick seen here) and I spent an hour or two learning how to do it and I finally cracked it. When I turned all the cards over just as shown here I saw that I had done it as perfect as anyone could do it. I was absolutely on a high with joy and excitement as I knew this trick was so brilliant that it would truly impress anyone that was shown it. The next day I went to my local pub and got a pint. The place was chocka and I waited a little while before I told everyone that they were gonna see a miracle card trick. Everyone gathered round to watch me and I went through my routine and finally turned the cards over to show the line of blacks and reds completely in the order shown here. There were gasps of wonder and surprise when I did this and I was immediately bombarded with ''Please show me how to do it'' and ''How the fuck DID YOU DO THAT?'' etc etc etc. Y'know what, I never told anybody how to do it . I only ever did this that one time and never again. I knew I could never get the feeling of total power I had over a room full of people that believed they were part of a dream of impossibility and craziness. This will always be my all-time fav card trick. Always.

    I did a brilliant trick on my friend once, and regret to this day that I told him how I did it. Fuck it didn't even take that long to crack and tell him LOL, I was so excited about how brilliant it was I kinda just wanted to tell him. I definitely shouldn't have. The magic of it died that instant and he wasn't so impressed anymore. (He was going to the store to buy new drum heads and I told him I would predict what he was going to buy. I not only predicted that but predicted the brand of beater that he put on his kick drum. He was completely blown away when I got both correct, and even thought I had called the shop to ask the guy for my friends description and what he'd bought, which I hadn't. It was so good. Should have taken it to the grave).

    @@Lyth There's not that many brands that make drum heads, I picked the 5 most popular and wrote them all down and put them in different pockets. Just had to remember what was in what pocket. As for the drum beater guard he bought, I just happened to catch a glimpse of it in the bag and went out to my car immediately to find a pen and write that down on all the papers. When he got to my car I said I have it written down on a piece of paper, and for him to reveal what drum head brand he bought. When he did I reached in the appropriate pocket and pulled out the paper. He was pretty blown away by it. I think I wrote on all of them some snarky remark too.. like, "Of course you bought Remo heads, just like a pussy". Something like that. When we got to our rehearsal space, because I thought it would be funny I pretended to grab something from my pocket, where I had then put all of the papers into, and they all fell out like I accidentally had done it, revealing the trick. It was a funny moment, but I wish I would have just kept him guessing. He had no clue how I did it. He thought I had called the store, LOL.

    I think someone showed me some similar trick one time claiming the same anecdote about Churchill and I immediately asked to shuffle myself, then when the presenter declined I asked for a fair shuffling method. He tried the Zarrow shuffle - didn't convince me either. Then when he argued about what is fair and what is not, and I explained which shuffling methods are legitimate and how they actually work and must be performed - he declined again, then I stated that the deck is stacked. Then he showed me anyway, and I deduced that the deck must be divided by colors. Presenter was utterly frustrated. I am doubtful that Churchill fell for this one, stacked deck tricks are by far the most common and shallow ones.

    this trick is called 'Out of this World' and every magician has his own version of it. Check out Lennart Green and Harry Lorrayne work on it. I havent seen the tutorial just the performance and can tell that the first shuffle is false. you need to spread the deck face up prior going into this trick in order to convince the audience. Lennart Green has his angle separation to divide the deck into reds and blacks.......this works

  • @scottcampbell3940
    @scottcampbell39403 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for this. It is the simplest execution of this trick I have seen. All of the other performances involve the magician rearranging the cards after the audience shuffles the deck. Yours is extremely simple and, therefore, the most amazing. The magician is doing nothing "odd" to the cards (i.e. rearranging cards after the shuffle), he or she simply "shuffles", pulls out the 4 cards and immediately hands the deck over. Every audience that I've shown YOUR execution to has been utterly flummoxed. Now, to those people that say, what if the other person demands a reshuffle or turns the decks over...you don't want those people as your friends. They are feeble, insecure people who don't appreciate the fun of magic. They are the people that, after someone tells them something that has impressed them or is important to them, says, "Oh, you did'nt know that?? I already knew that." Really fun people to share your life with.

    Here's a tip if you want to take this trick to the next level. Arrange the deck 13 red 13 black 13 red 13 black. Then at the beginning of the trick split the deck in half and you could actually do a real riffle shuffle. So after that there might be one or two cards in the middle of the deck that are the wrong way so when you take out the four cards to begin the trick you're all set up. After learning this technique I've never had someone figure this trick out.

    Late reply but...One of the piles will be wrong (reversed). A simple sleight (flip) irreverses them. So you put red on the black and black on the red as long as you do the flip correctly at the reveal. Hope that helps. 4:50

    For slow learners (like me :p), you might be wondering why Churchill's choice didn't affect the ordering why the deck wasn't messed up with a mixture of red and black cards? Well here's why 4:34 ---- 4:49 he is dealing only red cards RESULT = [ *left*- all red; *right* -all red except 1 at the bottom] 5:17 ---- 5:28 he is dealing only black cards RESULT = [ *left*- all red+black; *right* - all red except 1 at the bottom and 1 at the top] Now he just flips! and you can see those 2 extra cards taken out at the start were functioning just as a "marker"

  • @MrJohnSmash

    @MrJohnSmash

    @@xyzxyz6498 You don't have to put the first color correctly on the correct pile. You just need to know which color is coming up first. If it is Red, then I always put the red pile on the left. The first several cards can all go on the black pile, that does not matter.

    An improvement when selecting the 2 red and 2 black cards: - Do not take the 4 cards right in the middle of the deck (looks too contrived). - As you go through the deck, have someone else say stop to 'randomly' select the 2 red and 2 black cards. You vary the speed of going through the deck to ensure you have the necessary cards. - After pulling out each of the 4 cards, put them face down so as not to unnecessarily give away info about the stacked deck.

    This was a demonstration for teaching the basics of the trick to the novice. Like any pursuit, one must learn the fundamentals -you cannot teach a child to read by handing them Ulysses by James Joyce - when they do not yet know the alphabet. 😉 For the intermediate prestidigitator these variations are fair suggestions. Of course, if one were a world-class, magician I am certain they could come up with infinite variations of this manipulation.

    I practise and perform this trick fairly often. It still amazes me when I shuffle the cards, but still see all the reds together and all the blacks together! Sometimes, some stray cards end up in the 'wrong' half, but these can be used as the four cards that will be face up anyway. When I perform the trick, I tend to turn over the 'correct' pile first (as shown in this video), then say 'and I'll do the same with this pile' just before turning the second pile over. This helps to provide the illusion that you are doing the same action with each pile, even though they are slightly different.

    You'd just end up putting all the cards of one color on the red pile, if the top half of the deck was red then the pile would be right, otherwise it'd be all wrong black cards and would end up flipped during the reveal to make it right. After you dealt the first half of the deck, if they were all red cards to the red pile, the piles would then switch colors. You could then put all the remaining cards under the now-black pile, and they would be right also and the trick is done, although it makes it more obvious that the deck was split by color from the beginning. If you still insisted on putting the rest of the cards on the other "new" red pile (which could also be prevented if the dealer says something like "well, since you put alll the cards on red, I'm going to put the rest on black"), the dealer could bunch and flip the cards to show the black cards under the original black card, of course it would be easier to notice something was up since you'd remember putting all the cards under all the red cards.
