Truck is awesome and I believe this is sine of Traxxas best stuff. They are starting a trend of fast scale vechiles which quite a few rc enthusiasts desire. I have been in the 4s and 6s world more recently but a 3s that hits 6s speeds? This one does and that is impressive. A fan on the esc and motor solves the overhearing issues.

Agreed, loving the scale designs coming to the fast trucks 😎. Unfortunately the truck did have a fan on since first drive :/ after knowing how the Velineon system was in the slashes I was hoping to eliminate any possibility of that happening hahah

@QuadeCrabtree I have two Powerhobby fans on the motor and one on the ESC. Putting these on, at least for me has completely eliminated overheating. Even on 85-90 degree days I have yet to see the Temps reach higher than 90 degrees. And this is after doing multiple speed runs. Putting the fan on the motor is a little tricky because it requires adjusting the motor wires to get the heatsink and fans installed but definitely not that difficult to do.

I’m planning on completely ripping out the electronics on all my Traxxas stuff. Except maybe the Maxx which I haven’t had any issues with. I have 5 Traxxas cars. All going to castle except the T Maxx. That’s going OS .21

Your review was one of the best I've ever seen as far as your style and content. No filler, no BS bare bones and what I wanted to know. I was excited to see this truck until I saw this review and I am not a fan of the Slash. I really appreciate that because I might have bought one of these for a friend of mine at least. And you are the one that made a difference. So thank you and I will subscribe

I definitely won't be buying one after this review I was definitely going to buy one!!! A UDR is way better choice, maybe a UDR with this body???🤔

Thank you sir I really appreciate the comment. Go for the Baja Rey 2.0 imo that’s currently the best bang for your buck 1/10 Style Trophy Truck and from what I’ve seen it doesn’t disappoint!

I got me one. I love mines. I don’t get mines dirty like that. I keep mines new. I took care of mines

If you really like the looks and aren’t expecting it to perform fantastic out of the box go for it. But if your looking for both or just performance, their are way better options for your money 🤙🏼

Mines is in the shop right now because my esc and motor kept glitching it was doing that all day. And I love that truck.

I’m glad I seen your video. I was torn between this or a slash ultimate.

I was first customer in the state to buy these trucks. Been beating on it for over a week. I did break the spur gear but thats it after tons of rolls and flips. My biggest complaint was the overheating. I installed cooling fans on everything yesterday and now I can run a full pack without it thermaling in this 107* weather we have. It does need to sit a bit higher but I bet it wouldnt handle so well. Overall I love this rig.

I just bought mine yesterday August 12th. I've only ran it once so far. It's way too hot (103° today 8/13/2023). But first impression is... I like it. It's stout. Got all the Heavy Duty suspension and drive axles. This thing is fast on 3s and the stability control works very well. The tires are amazing 👏. The really throw a roost of rocks , dirt and any other loose material under those tires.😂 love the scale looks of it.

Glad to hear your enjoying! They can definitely cause fun in a bashing sense and the scale look department. Not all bad about the truck and definitely some good things. Personally I just feel for the price the truck is overrated compared to others on the market and the ability’s they offer.

I know your teased one upcoming truck but when you said there are a bunch of trucks that are better value it would be nice if you named a few to help is newer rc guys with what to look at.

The only one I can think of might be the Traxxas Maxx from the same company. At $569 you get pretty much the best all around vechile on the market.

Yessir! Good point, I apologize for not mentioning them. I’m currently trying to acquire all of them now but there are a good few and I don’t want to recommend any of them with full confidence until I have hands on experience myself first. Looking at all non race bred “Short Course” trucks on the market right now as of Aug 2023. You have Traxxas Raptor R Slash 4x4 Ultimate 1/10 Losi Baja Rey 2.0 Losi Tenacity TT Pro Team Associated Pro4 SC10 Arrma Senton 4x4 V3 3S For choice with no experience It would all turn to what I was wanting to do with the truck and maybe what my local hobby shop carried parts wise. Of course Amain can have you almost anything in two days for a price. Each truck does relatively the same function but some do jumps better, some do gravel/sand better, some do grass better, mud etc. Every truck can be upgraded to preform in any environment great but out of the box some shine in areas other don't and I need a full hands on experience with each truck to know what my personal take is on those strong points and weaknesses. I'll have a review up soon for them 😁

I bought one, with a 3s battery it’s awesome. But the one problem I keep having is if any of the the wheels get caught on something under full power the pinion gear slip off… 😐

8:21 My initial thought was fckin pumped. Then I saw a lot of videos, and I analyze that truck is underpowered. It’s going fast, but it doesn’t hold the rhythm. Big overheating, limited travel suspension, car body VERY noisy… All these things who giving me the feeling that model isn’t capable to run how it’s supposed to. The chassis is too much stretched to be bigger. Come on TRAXXAS, we cannot accept that in 2023 now, just the fact to put a too light motor with high KV is the biggest mistake who NO ONE should do in 2023. And my last words : TRAXXAS, I love you, but all these flaws…….. AT THAT PRICE ??? NO WAY. Watch your FANTASTIC competitor !! For exactly the same price !! LOSI Baja Rey 2.0 I mean… This is a little UDR…!! LOSI won this time, very very easily. Period.

The Baja Rey 2.0 doesn’t drive anything like the UDR. Not even a close comparison. The only similarity is the suspension. And that’s where it ends.

How does it compare to those beautiful CENF250 on the wall being you?

Completely different animal there lol. My CENs are built for towing so lots of torque and slower gearing while this unit is made to go around a track or light off road at 60mph hahah

Ehh I just picked this up yesterday and reviews are a little disappointing

I couldn't agree more with your opinion of this truck. Traxxas really dropped the ball on this release. This truck should have much more suspension travel / clearance and a bigger motor. Also they should have changed the way the middle driveshaft has that opening under the chassis just like all the Slashes do so rocks can get in there and scratch it up or bind it up

Yessir nailed it. Their are a lot of things that just simply don’t and didn’t work for the Slash and are proving to not work here.

The motor didn’t like having to pull the truck through the thick mud and ended up overheating as a result and ruined the magnets inside the motor.

Upgrade that center diff with no slipper clutch.

What? You're surprised a Traxxas "Slash" 4x4 RTR is prime for upgrades! I'm shocked! OTB it does what they claim. But the motor and esc need fans. What is that like $20 for both from Traxxas?

Any RC that you add 3 times it’s weight in mud is going to fail. If you don’t like this truck then you don’t like the slash 4x4 because it’s identical minus the wheels base.
