A tragic tale of 3 brave little tank engines that went to help during WW1 but never made it there and indeed never made it home.
Hopefully you'll have never heard of the Bideford, Westward Ho! and Appledore Railway, which is good. I hope you get to learn something new and that the story of the 2 missing locomotives gets discussed again.

It always sucks when engines are lost to history instead of being preserved.

Big Bertha and the class 456: you can say that again
Fun Fact: Many a workmen will say that when the moon is full, they can see the little engines trying to get home… But they never make it.

Can't hear the name Bideford without thinking of James May

I think some one has done a painting of the three engines crossing the bridge
Petition to rebuild more of the railway or atleast a replica of the locomotives

theres almost nothing left of this railway
Sad to see these tank engines lost. They would've been cool if they were preserved. Cool video talking about these tank engines. Keep up the great work and take care.

They wouldn't have been preserved even if they didn't sink
What an opening!

Thank you, I tried to go for a more dramatic approach and this was the perfect subject matter for that.
Been visiting bideford for years and was always intrigued by these locos and the railway. Great episode of guide rail ( even stayed in a camp on top of the formation)
North Western Railway of Sodor locomotive number 1 in the railway series be like :
its nice to see some railway storys a bit more local to me 👍
Actually, yes, some of us have heard of the railway - and the mystery about the engines' fate. Good film, though,
No idea how fascinating thank you
7:29 so this is what Thomas would look like with cowcatchers?

“But I don’t catch cows sir!” “They’ll all say I look like a tram!”
really great video, I hope we get some photos of that wreck.
lovely tribute to the three tank engines and their beautiful railway
As a cornish person, I find it really exciting that there could be an unknown wreck with two locomotives on board! (Its obviously quite sad though)
Yes sir! New terrier video!
Would’ve been fascinating if those locos had existed and ran part of the line in preservation. It’s always nice when locos work at their original homes
You'll be interested in the Machrihanish railway in Argyll Max.
Were all three engines of the BHO&A 2-4-2 tanks?

Love WW history, Steam history and Ship wrecks so this ticks all the boxes. 👍
If only the lost tank engines from World War I were preserved in present day instead of being lost forever…
Where is that half a coach nowadays?
Be good if the 04s or the little tanks could be raised
Yes yes yes !
What gauge did they run on?
@Terrier55Stepney

They were standard gauge, so compatible with the rest of the UK's mainline and in France.
Cool
What’s that map that you used?

Would be cool to make a Thomas-like story out of detailing the journey of the one little engine that went on until the 30’s
