@@tomdillistone1828 No way man. They are still The Hip. They were actually playing together as band before Gordie joined as lead singer in the early days. Discounting lyrics and vocals, there's not many instrumentalists that can compare to these guys either.

@@SteelFisher Fine. You disagree. But Discounting lyrics and vocals ... really ... Gordie was a Poet (lyricacist) and a very entertaining unusual singer (vocalist) ... so-o ... yea ... they played well before Gordie came along ... Gordie paired his supersmart lyrics and vocals with their cool riffs and the fabulous stuff that resulted was The Tragically Hip - Canadian music icons ... this could easily be a ten - pager so I will stop. I will have a difficult time hearing the boys the same way without his contribution, and I am sure I am not the only one who would dig it hearing them mixing around other Canadian vocalists ... whatever, its ok to not feel the same ... thats why we live in Canada ... that AND the fact that I was lucky enough to be born here ... and not almost anywhere else. ... @CBC Music- absolutely agree. Feist was an excellent choice, and song was perfect. We can only hope that we get more of this in some way shape or form. The boys definitely needed this too to allow for the closure. So damn tragic this man was taken away from us way too early.

Gord was a huge, HUGE fan of Feist. I'd argue while, yes, nobody could ever replace Gord in a million years, if they ever do another of their songs and it needs a singer it can only be Feist, she's the only person Gord would ever approve of and really the only one since Gord's passing that could even make any sense and work with the emotions of their catalogue.

I think you are right about Leslie, for sure. Gord was a fan and a friend. I’d suggest that Sarah Harmer is the only exception to the “Feist Rule” - if it fit the song, Gord would approve & the band would play it. I only ever expect one offs - there is no *new* version or anything. It’ll be for something they care about, like the Kids Camp.

It was so emotional that, Rush presented the humanitarian award to the Tragically Hip. My daughter, in her honour, died in 2016. Before she passed, through family connections, Johnnie Fey, was going to visit her, in hospice. It didn't happen. Why because it was my decision, that she was too sick, for this visit.

Pretty emotional. I think of how Gord Downie would just like to still be here. He was a young person. Leslie Feist is wonderful. I think of her eyes and mouth behind the mic in front of the Tragically Hip, where Gord Downies eyes and mouth had been for so many years. What a privilege! She was fully endorsed by the band! Who else could be? No one!

First saw the band at a rock bar in Philadelphia circa 1991. Best band of the '90's. Bar none. Great loss when Gord Downie died but I hope they keep playing. Feist is magical here.

Rob Baker's opening smile said it all for me. My absolute favourite Hip track (can't believe they chose this!) after a too-long absence from our nation's greatest band. Feist and the boys did Gord proud. Bittersweet perfection.

I really miss Gord, I truly do. I think I took him for granted to be honest. He wrote such wonderfully abstract poetry that will echo into Canadiana history. His ability to translate simple every day things into illustrious metaphors shall not be forgotten. Forever in our hearts ❤️
