How do you get mods

This battle was first after new patch, so some things weren't balanced well and were improved later. Also we should remind that wrong textures are caused by vanilla game due to large armies. We are trying to minimize this bug, but it still may happen sometimes. There will be more updates and content in future, so mod will be improved more. Thank for uploading this battle, w really appreciate it!

are you also working on battle-maps ? Because they are pretty flat right now. Hills and woods would be nice to have. Overall huge effort and congratz for your ambition to finish such an ambitious mod!

@@xjuliussx yes, this is custom battle map on video. It's flat because it's historical map of Breitenfield, there were no hills or large woods, only behind opposing forces. We have other custom maps, some of them are more hilly.

Kazimierz Serocki's music from "The Deluge" (1974) would suit this battle very much.

Basically, since there's no campaign version of the mod, you exhaust the playability of the mod in a few skirmishes. The promise is there, but until it's met, this becomes boring very quickly.

I think once the carlist wars mod comes out, this pike and shot team will be able to play off of their campaign. But I agree. I can only play so many custom battles.

Yeah, 100%. There is the "old world" map mod for shogun 2. It covers all of europe, like ME2. I think it will be extended even more, not sure. You can actually play it with sengoku era units right now, but they will release it later for any moders to use. So this will probably be used for it. Should be easy to implement.

Yeah, that is the same reason i don't have interest in that third age mod either

the polish were like: We do Pike and shot, too. the rest of europe: The pikes were meant for infantry. the winged hussars: It works very well on a horse.

Well it is not pike but lance. Very different as lances had to be ligher and most of time shorter than infrantry pike.

@@jarlnils435 I wrote about Winged Hussars not ancient cavalry. What is your point, that you could use pikes as a cavalry? You could probably, the question is - are you sure that sarissa used by cavalry is the same thing as used by infrantry. I doubt that they used such long and heavy wood (heavy 4m - 7m piece of wood and iron). Try to wield it for a second, not to mention manouver on a horseback. Please have in mind that historians are not fully sure how fighting in that time really looked like. And many mistakes were made due to bad understanding of naming. If there is name of sarissa used as part of cavalry unit name it doesn't mean it is the same weapon as infrantry version.

You should watch the movie Capitan Alatriste, with Viggo Mortensen. Great Spanish movie, of that period. Mortensen being a captain of a Spanish Tercio régiment in the battle of Rocroi!

There is a video of Sabaton Lifetime of War with Polish lyrics and it merges a lot of clips from TV, documentaries, tv shows that depict the era and I believe Captain Alatriste is one of them!

Shogun 2 FOTS is the best base, for mods with gunpowder

Very impressive Jackie, thank you for bringing us this look at the MOD. Pike & shot is one of my favorite eras to war game. I hope the modders manage to implement a campaign, I would so love to fight the English Civil war. Cossacks 3 is ok but not anywhere near as realistic.

WINGED HUSSARS!

I always find it interesting how Polish army of that era is built. They have their own core units - heavy cavalry, some light cavalry like Cossacks and cheap infantry - but almost everyone else are foreigners "autorament" and mercenaries. Makes me think of Rome and their "auxilla" units that became almost inseparable part of the legions.

The type of unit you call foreign autorament is not what you think. They were not foreign as mercenaries but just formed based on type of units common outside of Commonwealth. In other words - dragoons made of Polish troops were "foreign" cause it was dressed and armed as if were for example Austrian or HRE. National troops were dressed and armed in line with internally developed setup for units. But as Commonwealth - mostly Polish part was tightly connected to western Europe, their idea of warfare were influencing PLC armies. Therefore such units made in the western way, were called "foreign" despite being made of Commonwealth citiziens. And with that - national was also called "hungarian infantry" :). Which got such name as Hungarian duke was elected king of Poland and he reformed Polish and Lithuanian armies. Also hard to say that PLC got cheap infrantry. Above mentioned infrantry was supposed to be trained for 3 years before deployment and was range type of intranfry. As PLC used a lot cavalry there was no need for mass pike Infantry. So such infrantry was not cheap as armament like arquebuis or muskeet is more expensive than pike. PLC used a lot of cavalry due to the fact that they needed high mobility to fight tatars on empty lands of Ruthenia.

It's a shame publishers are corrupt because i have this feeling that Sabaton, the band themselves, probably would love for Winged Hussars to be in a large gaming youtuber channel video lol

Total War overslept on Pike and Shot. Combat being really similar to Medieval TW in later stages or WH, but without fantasy element joined together with some really interesting events and political situation Thirty Years War, English Civil War, Swedish Deluge in Poland, Rise of Ottoman Empire and Russia (and I guess you can say Prussia as well). EU IV filled this niche and it's the most popular Paradox Strategy game (not saying the best). So ye wonder when CA will wake up

The amount of money they could make out of these games. It’s history. The ideas are endless. If moders can do it why can’t they?

No, they were armoured companions (pol. towarzysze pancerni), a medium-armoured Polish cavalry. Those steppe peoples were mostly Tatars, but they looked differently.

and those guys werent equippied with medieval weapons, there was a different style of fighting in Central and Eastern Europe using mounted troops and a large number of light-armed troops ;)

Especially from 16th century onwards even in WWI and WWII most of the operations in the east were done with tanks and other vehicles in (WWI on the eastern front cavalry was still used [hell even during Russian Civil War Soviets had regiments of cavalry])

fall of the samurai gunfight is so much better than empire and napoleon. I hate those early guns but it feel....so good in FotS

Since Medieval 2, I have been waiting for CA to finally reflect and create a full-fledged game or games combining the Renaissance and Baroque eras. Years pass and CA doesn't see any potential in games from that period, it's a real pity. 😢😢😢

Neither Commonwealth, nor Sweden weren't using Pike and Shot in times when most used it. Swedes used something similar but not exactly.

@@Pigraider268 Poles (and Lithuanians) were using "shot" mostly with defensive tactics during fights against enemies. Pikes were not used en masse. I would call it a sort of shock and awe tactics as more modern approach. Different cavalry types with shooting infrantry.

I think it’s time as a community we just leave TW alone. They’re not going to ever make another historical. We may as well look for other games to play and enjoy instead of giving CA anymore screen time.

Literally nobody in the total war community said they wanted pike and shot. If anything they want Medieval 3.

What an asshole comment. Imagine being so biased that you denounce the existence of a very big portion of the community as "literally nobody" just because you aren't counted among them. Yes, people want Medieval 3. But a lot of people, probably just as many, also clamor for this exact era in warfare, Pike & Shot.

You clearly don't know Shogun 2 then as it is superior in AI tactics to Rome 2, Attila, Troy, etc. Literally the only modern total war that comes close is Thrones. Actually know the games before speaking is a benefit

Pike and shot style of war is the most static one since the macedonians and Alexander the Great. This concept will be terrible.
