Dr. Daniel, I've watched you forever and this was great content here. As a 63 year old woman who suffers with hyperpigmentation, I thought I was doing everything right, and then I saw your reminder of the importance of wearing the TINTED SPF! You're 100% correct that hyperpigmentation gets worse when just wearing a non-tinted version. Thanks for all you put into your work here and you are deserving of all your success.

My guess is he would say vitamin C serum, retinoids and moisturizers. Similar to what he says in this video….Combo products with additional peptides, etc. are even better.

@@kristinj7173 That's pretty much what most derms say in their anti-aging and mature skin videos and they also mention tyrosinase inhibitors, exfoliation and of course sunscreen. In addition to standard peptides, some derms do mention growth factors. Idriss' video also mentioned hydrating toners/essences and oil since skin can be drier during menopause and after. There's also diet and no smoking and limited alcohol.
Love your videos and common sense information. Love more info for mature skin.

Something to do with the chromium oxides and iron oxides. You can look for these ingredients in moisturizers
Thank you for the video. It was very informative. Can you please do a video on exfoliation (i.e. best product to use)?
I use Tretinoin at night with peptide serum, moisturizer and eye cream In the morning I use Timeless C serum, Arbutin, TXA, LRP double repair, eye cream, Paula’s choice 30 plus tinted sunscreen or LRP tinted sunscreen.
Thanks Dr. I have dark skin and developed melasma about a year ago. I also have sensitive skin and live in FL, exposed to heat and humidity most of the year. I’ve been using two really good sunscreens, recommended by Dr. Alexis on YT. I highly recommend Colorscience Flex, tinted ( I use “ tan”)and Supergoop Glow sunscreen. They both blend really well and moisturize. Colorscience is thicker while Supergoop works as a primer.
Grate video❤️
Speaking of neutrogena, they have a spf 30 mineral invisible daily sunscreen. Have you checked out the LRP cicaplast gel b5 skin protectant that has 21% glycerin? There's also a cicaplast balm b5 spf 50. Also, The Ordinary has a sacchromyces ferment exfoliant toner and a retinal serum.
Thank you for all your contents, these are the best. Could you do video on sunscreen spray, cushion, or anything that can help reapply sunscreen without touching my face. I’m in the construction field and in contact with materials that i don’t want to use my hand to touch my face.

Use petrolatum or balm on your lips before applying retin to protect your lips.
Great advice on moisturizing! What are your thoughts on Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream? My son has sensitive skin especially after shaving, not with razor but with Andis electric shaver and he says the La Roche Posay Double Repair Matte Moisturizer kind of stings. I heard good things about Dr. Althea 345 and wondered if you have any thoughts on that cream.
Thank you for this! I was doing it wrong because I am not moisturizing my skin enough after I apply the retinol cream 🤦🏻♀️ And my skin is dry and very sensitive...
Dear Dr. Sugai, Thank you so much for all your interesting videos! I have a question; Is it an issue to use all the products in your skincare routine from the same brand? ( La Roche Posay) Thank you very much in advance!
I like using The Ordinary's AHA/BHA exfoliator, but I cannot handle using it daily. In the winter, I use the chemical exfoliator every 5 to 7 days. But in the humid months, I use it every 4 to 5 days. It's a matter of simply listening to my skin. Thanks for your great advice. Much appreciated from Buffalo, NY.

Hi. Have you tried using products with bakuchiol? Data shoe that bakuchiol has similar properties to retinoids but it is generally better accepted than retinoids and causes less irritation.
Thank you for your recommendation and advice I follow you regularly ...I had NO idea that tinted sun's screen could make such a difference ...is there a mineral tinted sunscreen with SPF 50 yoy recomend ...my skin gets irritated with chemical ones ??
Hey Dr Sugai. Thank the BIG Man for this video. I have been using Allies of Skin peptides + GF as I’m a red head,,have sensitive skin and regretaby some roling box scars on my cheeks. Every thing was going Great!, I was using Summer Fridays ester vitamin C in the mornings with a Cetaphil factor 50 during the day (I spend most of my time in doors) and in the evening the Aliies of Skin, Then an oat gel moisturiser, then an Elmeis anti wrinkle night cream - but I ran into trouble… I’m 43 ad some said I need to exfoliate at least once a week due to skin turn over, I used Boissance - the first couple of weeks it was OK and then I decided to add more than a tiny amount standard time is 3-10 minutes. I couldn’t evcen wait out the 1 min, my face was tingling OUCH. as soon as I washed i off it was fine, but then two days later, I devloped what I can only describe as ‘crispy patches very tinny in size and I’m using a skin barrier cream and they are much better. My question is - what on earth can I use for sensitive, aging skin, which will help with scaring that’s not going to give me “crsipiness” I’m in tbe UK so your hep wiill be aprpreciated! x
Cetaphil Redness Relieving, Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen has iron oxides.
How often do you recommend using the glow recipe watermelon toner?
Thank You Dr. D🌈🌈🌈
Whats your take on B-glossy product soothing body serum?🤔
I need a very fair tint in my sunscreen, I’m a Fitzpatrick 1. Is the very light tint as effective for dark spots as a darker tint?
Any recommendations for tannimg 😅. Want to go out and get some color - but safely.. sensitive/acne prone skin for face & body that would be great for being in water lol..
Thank you so much is the ALASTIN tinted sunscreen OK for melasma and sunspots?
@danielsugaimd
19 күн бұрын
That is a great tinted option!! Very good brand
I use Cetaphil's Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 40; it's not irritating for my sensitive skin and is also not sticky. Once dry, I layer another, higher SPF sunscreen. I also rely on Cicaplast Balm B5 - ever since my son's pediatrician recommended it for contact dermatitis caused by a chemical sunscreen + loads of sweat. Lastly, I also like using (1-2/week) Cetaphil's Healthy Radiance Gentle PHA Exfoliating Cleanser. Doesn't set off my rosacea either.
Very informative! Thank you! Quick question: when could you use chemical exfoliators if you use daily Tretinoid? Could they be used on the same day?
@db-gb5xi
19 күн бұрын
If you're exfoliating once or twice a week, on those nights you don't use your retinoid. Just make sure you're moisturizing and giving your skin time to repair itself.
I believe that I forever increased the sensitivity of my very much not at all sensitive skin by following directions on the bottle to use an exfoliating toner twice daily every single day. I was also using the ordinary's 30% aha serum twice weekly on TOP of that, too...as well as face scrubs and many other damaging products from routines I found online. I used to literally have no sensitivity to anything, but now even though I stopped using everything for a while and did eventually mostly recover, I occasionally will get sensitivity if I start to go a bit overboard. It's kind of like my skin no longer trusts me and so it starts turning red the instant it thinks I'm about to go back to the abuse I was giving it a while ago :D. Either way though, I still did mostly recover like I said -- I can use chemical exfoliants once (definitely not twice like I used to) daily up to 3 times a week, but I tend to stick to 1-2 times a week. This is because I realized when I max out my skin's tolerance, if I want to do anything else like shave peach fuzz off my face/upper lip or treat an acne breakout, my skin makes it clear it is at the limit (redness, irritation). I would rather just do it twice a week and have my skin be able to take a bit extra when I occasionally want an additional treatment, if that makes sense :).
@Sara-M
18 күн бұрын
How do you get rid of peach fuzz? If you are using a blade of some kind - don't. The blade will lift dead cells but also scrape off some living cells and cause irritation. I am a clinical Aesthetician and for my clients I recommend buying a little electronic shaver made specifically for your face. They are not perfect but better for your skin. There are sensitive facial waxes out there but they can also have ingredients that you may have an allergic reaction. Don't use exfoliating toners. Some of them have high percentages of alcohol. Also, be careful with face powders. Many of them have talc. I use a mineral sunscreen and put a light coating of mineral powder to set. Another thing I started doing is drinking a cup water (8 ounces) first thing in the morning before coffee or breakfast. It starts my day off right and helps me to remember to drink more water daily. Slainte, Sara M

Do you feel the exfoliation is helping you?
@seralynn7286
10 күн бұрын
@@Sara-M Thanks for the info :)! And I am using a blade, but I wet my face and use a generous amount of shaving cream. I use only a very light pressure. I don't get any irritation after using it, but I only apply a moisturizer after -- none of my actives. I used to do it dry since that's what it says to do on the razor's instructions, but I did find that irritating. Since I switched to wet instead of dry and shaving cream instead of nothing, it's been fine. I only do it once every 2-3 weeks so I'm not doing it super frequently either.
@seralynn7286
10 күн бұрын
@@sofialotussen I think so, yes -- as long as I don't push it if my skin is feeling a bit sensitive. On my forehead I would say definitely, because my forehead is extremely oily and has actually never reacted to anything -- only the rest of my face has. I have a lot of little pimples along the hairline and I think they have been reduced by exfoliating there. If I ever get a larger pimple, I normally spot treat with 2% salicylic acid. For the rest of my face, I might skip my area between the nasolabial folds, because that gets very sensitive. But I have texture on my cheeks and chin, so I prefer to do those areas as long as I don't feel any irritation when applying the exfoliant. If I do, I wash it off and don't attempt again for several days or so.
@sofialotussen

@@seralynn7286 are you using any other serums or creams or such?
May I ask if I wear regular spa 50 A ++++ sunscreen with foundation which has Iron oxide and SPF 30 PA ++ . is that work for Melasma protection ? Thank you
If sunscreen isn’t tinted but has iron oxide, is that OK? Like a lot of the ‘tone up’ Asian sunscreens have iron oxide but not a lot of color usually just a pinkish tone. I find that the tint can rub off on shirt collars so if use regular tinted sunscreen I would have to use a different one for neck/chest, whereas the ‘tone up’ sunscreens that do have iron oxides could use for all areas
Can you use La Roche Posay cicaplast on top of your retinoid? Wasn’t sure if this is considered an occlusive and might cause irritation.
How long do I need to wait after using Retin-A before playing moisturizer
Thank you Dr. Sugai for another informative video 😊 My skin is very sensitive with Rosacea - I've been using a fragrance free gentle cleanser from Neutrogena for many years 🥰 I use two products from Vanicream - the Moisturizing Lotion and SPF 30 are my favorites. Take care everyone 🌹

I have had multiple dermatologist say that the higher doses of tretinoin is for acne control. For anti-aging purposes, they say 0.025 is sufficient and that it’s better to be on 0.025 every day than 0.05 twice a week. So you don’t even have to be on 0.5 you can be as low as 0.05 or 0.025 tret.

I don't know how much you get asked this, but what about bearded guys...How do we apply topicals to those areas? Or is it even necessary?
@sofialotussen
11 күн бұрын
I have head scalp issues and use serums for it. There are brushes that have application "pipes" that are very handy for this. I find applying serums directly on the area does use way to much serum since the hair sucks up most of it. Maybe these would be helpful for bearded areas too?
I don't understand. I thought we have to moisturise before retinol? But he says after?
@littlemissmel88
15 күн бұрын
Ideally you should moisturize after the retinol. The moisturizer creates a barrier on the skin that helps keep hydration in and makes it hard for other products to penetrate. If you struggle with irritation from the retinol, sandwiching it between layers of moisturizer helps your skin build up to using it regularly. Hope this helps!
@Leeeeee05

@littlemissmel88 thank you for that. I'll remember it. I thought moisturising before would dilute the effect of retinol on skin directly, you know, for people with sensitive skin.
