On the reverse step up, try not to land on a locked knee. Very bad for the joint.

It is probably a good idea to do a few simple stretch exercises half-way through the hike (lunch break).

Hi Steven, that can definitely help especially if you feel a particular area starting to tense up.

@@Fitnessforfreedom One of the things I way underestimated was need for electrolyte drink; I always thought electrolyte drink was for the über athlete, but really electrolytes needs to be replenished so as to avoid cramps, stc..

Hi Pemba, are you saying you get low back pain when you do the plank? You could try the kneeling version demoed here - kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaaZm7aNmq-ykpM.html

Thank you so much! I would do this. I have a plan to do the hiking for 2 weeks in 5 months from now. Do you think it's possible? Because I have a problem with my back pain. Walking only one day makes me almost die. I'm not sure it's enough times to training for me :(((

I can't speak to your back pain specifically, but often when people get low back pain from walking they need to work on their glute activation and hip hinge, I would consider doing some of those types of exercises. Also sometimes walking poles or sticks can help too.

I would try a hand plank instead and consider some shoulder exercises - kzread.info/dash/bejne/faqNtZtqepaphMo.html I don't know exactly what you need, but those are often a good start for most people

You usa people speak with so much conviction, yet it's all crap. Your spine is the most important part of you. Loading weights onto a spine without the core strength to support it is a recipe for back problems later in life. Consider rephrasing your statements to be more suggestions. Perhaps you've found them useful for your own hikes. Usa people have a reputation for arrogance. You don't help the situation.

Agreed core strength is really important for protecting your spine, however hiking is a multi dimensional activity that requires more than just core strength. You can and should strengthen and mobilize multiple areas of your body in parallel, not just one component.
