The TOP Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul Fan Theories Explained
Фильм және анимация
Although the Breaking Bad universe has seemingly come to a close with the end of Better call Saul.
That hasn’t stopped anybody from theorizing what potential spinoff series could be like.
And I recently came across an article that goes over. Some of the wild is breaking bad fan theories, and in this video, I decided to go through a few of them and see if I can make sense of them.

After Walter killed those 2 gang bangers who killed the kid Tomas, Walt poisoned Tomas’ nephew Brock who was also a kid. Walter did inherit some of their characteristics just like everyone else he killed.

I actually kinda like that theory because obviously Emilio he gets the crust but Those two gangoons Walt kills for Jesse they used and killed kids to run an operation and Walt uses Brock and covers up Drew’s murder Mike, directly after he kills Mike he starts picking up on his deadly characteristic and the whole prison scene highlights this Perfectly for me, he also says “you’ll never see Hank again”in the same way Mike said “you’ll never see Gus again” Gus, he not only gets the whole empire mindset but mannerisms too like when puking he set a towel for his knees, he also breaks his phone With Jane it’s harder to say but he tells Jesse “whose we” in season 5 and Jane said that, but you can also say Walt gained a greater love for Jesse afterwards
My favorite theory is when walt jr is secretly building a breakfast empire but he couldn't continue it becuase of walt's meth empire and gus fring's los pollos hermanos breakfast menu.
The thing about jack is he's already basically a foil to walt (Todd is the same for jesse) so there's nothing for him to copy since Jack is just the (more) evil walt.

We never saw Walt and Heisenberg in the same scene 🤯
I'm not sure if Mike would be ok with the idea of Gus killing those German engineers, sure they were sort of in the game but what they were doing wasn't illegal, I could imagine him trying to vouch for them like he did for Nacho, when he wanted Gus to let him go, but with him being a careful man he would ignore Mike, however I could see him having a huge issue with it and even a heated argument between the two would take place.
A strange theory is that The Walking Dead TV show franchise takes place as a sequel to Breaking Bad. The Breaking Bad universe ends right before the outbreak in 2010 which later on that year it gradually begins. Walt’s blue product appears in The Walking Dead. Also the Ballad of Heisenberg song from Breaking Bad appears in a Fear The Walking Dead episode. There are so many more connections to the show including Daryl referencing Jesse Pinkman as the drug dealer he got the blue meth from.

No
1:21 the theory actually acknowledges them in that it claims that using children in his operation (ie brok) was the trait that walt got from them
What if Walter just listened to Jesse in season 1 when he said to build their own clientele slowly & quietly?
An interesting what-if I've thought about concerns what goes down in Rock and a Hard Place. What if nobody survived the episode? Nacho shoots Bolsa before shooting himself, Gus gets into a shootout with the Salamancas, and all Mike can do is finish off the remaining survivors to accomplish Gus' revenge. Lalo goes after him once he finds out and given how skilled both of them are, a confrontation between them inevitably happens and both of them manage to kill each other. How will the Cartel deal with so much of their top earners being put out of the equation so quickly? It would be interesting to see how BB plays out with Tuco, Joaquin, Krazy-8, and Saul being the only players left from BCS. This may even give the potential for Walt to become Albuquerque/the South's kingpin practically overnight assuming his plan to poison Tuco goes accordingly.
Here's a crazytheory for you Murge: What if Walt just naturally/some other way developed a cough due to tissue damage to his lungs and never actually had cancer to begin with? The hospital just misdiagnosed him.

That makes 0 sense. After all of those sessions with a very good doctor they would have easily found out the misdiagnosis
My theory is that Gus was a member of DINA (later CNI) in Chile, the organization that carried out many atrocities under Pinochet. I'd also speculate that he was involved in La Cutufa, a secret illegal finance syndicate that fell apart in 1989. The reason it fell apart involved the murder of a famous restaurateur, which would be a handy Max connection.
The one on Walter White taking traits from those he kills is just true. Obviously with krazy 8s sandwiches, but there's also tuco's easily offended ego (though he kind of had that already), Mike's whiskey, he takes gales coffee machine and book, and he replies to Lydia telling him to get back in the game the same way gus replied to him about the tracker. He also took something from hank if I recall. The reason he didn't take anything from the Drug dealers or the two guys he killed to save jesse from the meth lab is they aren't real characters.
@Bussman.

His comment to Elliott about needing a bigger knife seems like something that Mike would say.
The mannerism that Walt copies from Gus is when he throws up in the toilet he lays a towel down like gus did when he poisoned the cartel and himself 😊

I thought I was the only one.
Having Elliot be some evil asshole makes me actually upset.
I like to think that Gus possibly worked for the Pinochet Regime in Chile. Maybe once the regime fell, he had a former contact destroy/alter any trace of him. Or did it himself. Gustavo might not even be his real name.
The trait picked up from the two men were using kids like Walt using Brock Another trait from gus is folding a towel very nicely before throwing up
Another trait Walt gets from Gus is placing down a towel to kneel on before throwing up. It's a more organised and prideful way of doing that lol
One thing I have wondered: what’s the story behind the superlab being finished up? Who did they end up hiring to finish it and how did that go? And if they bought a defective Madrigal air filter for the superlab, perhaps Jesse comes down with lung cancer later in the future as he is in Alaska?
Odd little thing that Walt "picked up" from Gus in some versions of that first theory (despite never actually witnessing him do it) is laying down a towel to kneel on before vomiting. As for what he hypothetically took from Jack and his men, if you really wanted to stretch the theory, you could say he preemtively took on being finally able to admit exactly who and what he is. As bad as he was, Jack was at least honest. Though I'm terrified of what he may have gotten from Lydia. Probably for the best he didn't survive. Her worst traits combined with his intelligence would have made quite the horrifying mix.
My main eyebrow raise at the Walter Trait Theory is that people cite Gus folding the towel in front of the toilet as one of them. Walter didn't see him doing that, he didn't know that's a thing Gus does, so he couldn't have copied that from him, consciously or unconsciously. That one has to just be a fun callback from the creators that's not explainable in-universe.
If they do make a gus prequel series, i would bet they would be like walter maybe his wife gotten sick and he tried to help her by turning to cooking, but was the exact opposite to walter but similar in many ways.
Jesse is a diehard Sonic fan and he couldn't talk about zombies in videogames with Badger and Skinny Pete not because he's affected by killing Gale but because he mostly plays Sonic.

The first theory is definitely true in my eyes . Walt cutting the crust of the sandwich was an obvious one but the fact that they had him having scotch on the rocks the episode after killing mike despite not drinking it that way any other time and Walt putting a towel under his knees after his cancer came back like gus in Dali’s is too much of a coincidence.

I'll try!
I think Gus was in Pinochet’s Secret Police, in Chile. He left when Pinochet was overthrown. When the Don killed Max and left him alive, he said to him “we know who you are.” They didn’t kill him because of his connections going back to Chile. Remember, Hector mockingly called him “Generalissimo.”

Here's an idea. What if Hank went to El Paso in season 3. He never looks into the RV and never beats up Jesse. Walt continues to cook with Gale and Jesse cooks on his own with Skinny and Badger.
"I don't remember Walter taking any traits from the gang bangers." being ok with using children for his plans.
I’d still like to see a prequel about Hector Salamanca’s younger days and how he got involved in the drug world.
If Walter killed a bunch of neo nazis during Felina doesn't that mean he was extremely racist during his death?
@mappingshaman5280

Walt during baby blue: I can't believe the Jews did this!
The next spinoff is a kid in Alaska gets into with some gangsters and can only get his kidnapped family back by getting them back 100K worth of meth. He gets some surprising help from his bearded carpenter neighbor Mr. Driscoll.
Love the vid man! I'm curious about Walters mom. Was she ever shown in BB or BCS? if so is she video worthy? I remember he just didn't want to see her for some reason and didn't go into it
When Walter is vomiting in season 5 he carefully folds a towel to kneel on just like Gus did in ‘Salud.’ I’m pretty sure the taking aspects from his victims was intentional.
The defective filters theory sounds like everything coming full circle, Walt getting his life ruined by this major company, Gretchen and Elliott being sold defective equipment. Then years later because of Walt's direct or inderect influence, he permanently stains and damages the company from within, while Gretchen and Elliott attack from outside. Perfect Karma
After he kills Gus, Walt even sits and breathes like him.
Crazy-8 - takes crust off sandwiches Gus’ dealer duo- uses a child for a plan or operation Gus fring- uses towel while kneeling at a toilet Mike- ice and saying ‘your never gonna see him again’ Yes there are inconsistencies but Walter definitely implements at least one of the characters traits at some point
You forgot the *best* *theory.* The Meth that Walter White built has a side effect of resurrecting the dead causing a zombie outbreak which would make Breaking Bad a prequel to The Walking Dead
Please do a “What if Joaquin Salamanca missed shooting Mike?” I think having Mike in the events of “End Days” and “Face Off” would’ve made those episodes and the story onward very different.
Walt sits a towel down and turns the sink on before throwing up just like Gus.
I need a way back prequel where Gus is an intelligence officer for Chile and Ed the disappearer is his CIA adversary.
I want a prequel series in the style of The Wire where each season focuses on a different character's bad choice road to Albuquerque: S1: Kim, and the twist of the season is that we follow her from her from Red Cloud to HHM's law firm not knowing that it's actually Kim Wexler we're following. S2 Hector pre-Gus, building the cartel, raising Lalo, Tuco, and the Cousins S3: Chuck's life from 14 to when he starts HHM with George Sr. We see them tackle cases in their prime and see juxtapositions of Chuck's budding professional relationship with a Young Howard Hamlin in contrast to his estranged brother, Jimmy. Perhaps a B/C plot with Cliff Main or Rich Schweikart. S4: The Rise of Gus S5: Walt between Gray Matter and becoming a high school chemistry teacher. Like Season 1, much is done to keep Walt's identity a secret until the end of the season. A mild but persistent cough being the main indicator.

Mike would never have allowed those engineers to be killed. He looks after his guys. Also, if Gus wanted them dead, they would have died long before that.
Casper got wrecked by lalo because hes basically just a civilian and not even one from a country with a big emphasis on self defenfe like america. He was vetted by mike to see if he would get the job done and not rat, not for his capabilities as a fighter
1:41 thats because before walt dies he goes baxk to himself his true self
If Walt survived Felina he'd pick up racism
The gangbangers trait was using kids for operations, Walt used Brock for his operation by poisoning him so thats the trait from them.
There's a better variation on the CIA theory. Instead of being CIA, it's more likely that Gus was a torturer for the Pinochet regime in Chile. Pieces of evidence I offer in support of this theory: (1) Gus's story about slowly torturing the coati, (2) the lack of documentation about him ("Pinochet's government was guilty of many sins. First and foremost were human rights abuses. But it was also notoriously unreliable about keeping records."), and (3) the mysterious conversation between Gus Fring and Peter Schuler of Madrigal in Better Call Saul (Peter says, "Do you remember Santiago? The two of us. Our backs to the wall. I will never forget what you did."). In this version of the theory, Gus was a torturer, which explains his ruthlessness, his patience, & his steely disposition, but he probably also had to escape from some torturer's hellhole in Chile with his life and with nothing but the clothes on his back, which explains why Gus didn't go all John Wick after Hector Salamanca executed Max. Gus didn't have any resources or friends when he introduced himself to Don Eladio & his superpower is his ruthlessness & sadism, not brute force. Gus's reputation could explain why he was spared but Max was murdered in front of him as a warning. Eladio & Salamanca just completely underestimated how ruthlessly patient Gus would be in seeking revenge. If you're wondering where the writers would have gotten an idea like this, look up Colonia Dignidad, an actual real life compound in Pinochet's Chile that was run by ex-Nazi German exiles. That's what they might be hinting at with Gus & Peter Schuler's friendship.
Hi Murge! Cool theories! (Except for the uncool ones, obviously.)
I think making Elliott into the bad guy would sorta ruin Walt's character imo. Turning to the dark side was more of Jimmy's thing. I feel like Walt saw Elliott as a bad person because Walt himself felt like a small person during that episode. You get the feeling that Walt always had this dark side to him. Or rather, that Walt explained himself already: his views on and his desire for greatness and superiority was fostered by seeing his father in a scary, comatose-like state, while all the people around him talked about what a great man his father was. He regretted that he never got to see that man but instead only had a memory of a scary monster-like person. Thus, he wanted to be remembered as a great man by his loved ones. This would have to go out the window and also it would be unfair to Elliott to make him out to be a bad guy. When Elliott is shown, hes shown as rather innocent and has no real competition with Walt--Walt is the one who feels in competition with Elliott, and the world. When Elliott has the chance and the upper hand, he doesnt gloat or have a hint of victory, but instead feels guilty and confused towards Walt. He doesnt act punitive or arrogant but instead offers to bring Walt back into the fold, with promises that Walt wouldnt be an underling, but promised on the contrary, he would return to his former greatness. Bogdan similarly isn't really a bad guy, but we're biased to thinking he is because we see it through Walt's eyes. In the BB universe, we often see what I believe are the actors playing their characters out to be more annoying, arrogant, lacking understanding, and conniving than they really are, when it seems like the protagonist is feeling small or suspicious. We see this not only with Elliott but also Howard at the beginning looking smug and arrogant and full of shit and thinks he's better than everyone else, only to find out later he's a pretty stand up guy who never had real ill will towards Jimmy to begin with like Jimmy thought.
The trait that he took from the gangbangers was hurting children with the last name Cantillo
After killing Gus, Walt puts a towel under his knees before throwing up... Just like Gus did when he needed to vomit up the poison he'd ingested at Don Ilario's house.
What if Download Audio didn't drink the poisonous tequila after Gus did?
This maybe the biggest what if in the breaking bad universe… What if eladio and bolsa actually convinced salamancas and gus to work together before gus boyfriend was killed?
I don't think that Gus would be a CIA asset in the sense of a spec ops guys, it should rather be how he could be part of CIA operations to fund themselves/people they support by selling drugs. So a young Gus could've been picked up to be an inside man in some drug ring or somewhat illegal operation and then, with CIA help, rose to where he is durring BB...
5:41 somebody's been watching the wire
Don't see Mike being okay with Gus killing Zeiglers wife. Even the other germans, as long as they're getting paid, I dont see Gus going through the effort of having them killed, especially when he later let others who knew his identity live (as they were receiving hazard pay to keep quiet)
There’s something wrong with the Madrigal giving Walt cancer theory. Walt worked in a chem lab after leaving Grey Matter. Sure, the theory could be accurate in that the applications lab could have cheaped out on the filters. But it is disconnected from Grey Matter.
I agree with all of these except for the 1st and last ones. For the 1st one, you've already brought up Krazy-8's sandwiches and Mike having rocks in his drinks, but one part of the theory that I'm surprised you didn't bring up is how Walt answered the phone after he killed Gus. Look at the scene where Mike's 9 guys are killed in prison, and look at how Walt answers and hangs up the phone when Jack calls him to tell him that the job is done. Walt does it in a very cold, serious, and straight to the point way, exactly how Gus did it. As for the second disagreement. Well, Mike probably knew that the engineers didn't actually just _talk,_ so he probably told Gus that, and then they decided it wasn't worth it.
The trait he took from jack was killing him before he could finish a sentence. I’m sure Walter killed him a million times in his head
What if Walter didn’t die in the finale? I could see this going four-ish ways: he kills himself/Jesse kills him although we don’t want another “What if Howard wasn’t shot by Lalo” situation, he fleas from the scene successfully, he lets himself get caught and tells the truth or not. What if Chuck stopped Jimmy while he had the chance? What if Jimmy never became Saul? What if Walter let himself get caught? He does not see the interview of Gretchen and Elliot and allows himself to get caught, similar to the first one it depends on if Walt would tell the truth, or if Jack and his crew would kill him in prison.
@weaz3r379

I imagine the only thing left for Walt to do is to keep a close eye on Gretchen and Elliott to ensure they set up the 9 million dollar trust fund, if he got out of Jack's compound. Otherwise, it's up in the air what he'll do after his hypothetical survival.
What if Kim never broke up with Jimmy? How would she be like during breaking bad?
What if idea for the Heisenverse: What if Hank was killed by Tuco in Season 2 Episode 2 “Grilled”
Confirmed Gus did the bite of 87
Gus working in the CIA, is tied to Pinochet who was installed by the CIA. So if Gus was tied to the regime, he definitely had CIA contacts.
what if Nacho told the truth about being under Gus' wing during s6 e3?
Hey murge what if Ted just paid his taxes without Walter’s money? I don’t know if you’ve been requested this one just though I’d put it out there, love the videos
Tbh a Gus Fring sequel would do so much damage to his character as what makes Gus such am intriguing character is how mysterious he is. Pealing back that current would be a bad idea
My own pet theory about Better Call Saul is that despite Cheryl’s threat, she wasn’t able to take legal action against Kim after she wrote that affidavit. Jimmy deciding to take sole responsibility for Howard’s death during his court room hearing basically rendered it inadmissible; anyone would’ve seen it as Kim trying to take some of the heat off of Jimmy, but then Jimmy “confessed”, so Kim is exonerated.
The mvp himself once again delivers. 👍

I think the Gus CIA angle doesnt really fit. I always thought Gus wouldve been one of the few narcotic traffickers that got away from the crackdown by Pinochet. He didnt downplay his opinion of him to the DEA after all. Or you can go REALLY crazy and say that Gus did get caught by Pinochet's forces, and went on one of those famous helicopter tours, but miraculously survived and successfully escaped to Mexico
Maybe Gus is actually a dictator island
