The Colnel and Proximus would probably have an interesting conversation to each other.
@Arborvitar

Holy crap, yeah. Like polar opposites. The Colonel was a human supremacist, fighting for humanity and humanity only. Proximus fights for apes, and only apes. He uses humans, like the Colonel used apes.

The Colnel: “It will be a planet of apes and we will become your cattle.” Proximus proved him right in a way. Especially considering he pretty much based his “kingdom for apes” on Roman History
Koba is GOATed.
Here’s my top five Planet of the Apes villains 1. Dr. Zaius 2. Koba 3. Proximus 4. Colonel McCullough 5. General Thade

That's a fact. The fact he truly and fully believed what he spoke, he would rather die than be sick, and held that fir his own children, and every ape. Think, if he decided to find peace with the apes rather then war, he would have had a chance against his enemies. Most military leaders believe the enemy kf my enemy is my ally, he held true to his words. He'd rather fight battles on two fronts then give his morals up.

That's what the planet of the apes franchise does so well, it perfectly puts a mirror up to these apes and shows the human nature within them. As long as intelligence exists their will always be a vicious cycle of apes making the same mistakes as humans.
Taylor would ANGERED by the Colnel and Jacobs be if he met them. Change my mind.

@@reneelawton1032 They are the worst parts of humanity.
Proximus Caesar reminds me of the Caesar character from Fallout New Vegas. They're both intelligent individuals who use the name of a historical Caesar and twist their messaging for their own agendas and use the Roman Empire for inspiration when crafting their kingdom. They think that in order for their people to survive in the post apocalyptic setting, they need to unite under one strong kingdom. The ends justify the means. The two Caesars also look down upon the new tribes that have sprung up and wish to assimilate them into their kingdom which includes wiping away those tribal identities
Cool list. My list is… 1.Koba 2.Colonel McCullough 3.Dr Zaius 4.Proximus Caesar 5.General Thade
My favorite villain is Koba because he is like Demona from Disney’s *Gargoyles* and Arlong from *One Piece* in my perspective! Koba, He is considered to be an incredibly well-written villain for several reasons: 1. Complexity of Motivations: Koba's motivations are not simply black and white. He has a deep-seated hatred and mistrust of humans, stemming from the horrific abuse and experimentation he endured at their hands. This tragic backstory adds nuance and depth to his character, making him more than just a one-dimensional villain. 2. Moral Ambiguity: Koba's actions are often driven by a desire for revenge and a belief that apes must dominate humans to ensure their own survival. However, his methods become increasingly extreme and morally questionable, blurring the line between hero and villain. This moral ambiguity makes the audience question their own allegiances and sympathies. 3. Compelling Character Arc: Over the course of the trilogy, Koba's transformation from a loyal follower of Caesar to a power-hungry usurper is a captivating arc. His descent into madness and the lengths he's willing to go to achieve his goals create a sense of impending tragedy that keeps the audience engaged. 4. Realistic Portrayal: Koba's character is grounded in realistic ape behavior and social dynamics. His interactions with other apes, including his jealousy and resentment towards Caesar, feel authentic and believable, making him a more compelling and relatable villain. 5. Thematic Significance: Koba's role in the narrative serves as a foil to Caesar, exploring themes of power, leadership, and the dangers of extremism. His arc is a cautionary tale about the consequences of unchecked ambition and the delicate balance between ape and human society. Overall, Koba's multifaceted nature, compelling character arc, and thematic significance make him a standout villain in the rebooted *Planet of the Apes* trilogy, earning him widespread praise from critics and audiences alike. Kudos to Toby Kebbell for his performance as Koba!
Sylva was nefarious and an excellent villain in this current movie. The roar from Sylva was very similar to King Kong as well and that was neat to watch!
Hmm...this is tough but here is mine. 1.) Dr. Zaius 2.) Koba 3.) DR. Otto Hasslein 4.) The Colonel 5.) General Ursus Zaius is my favorite he isn't menacing like Koba he does what he does to ensure the survival of Ape society, plus Maurice Evans gives a great performance & has a strong presence whenever he is on screen. But when it comes to a true villain Koba is the best. If you think about it though none of the villains are truly villains besides maybe two or three in the franchise.
I love General Thade, even though the writing for him isn't as good as the writing for Koba Tim Roth just brings that character to life with his terrifyying presence and awesome video.
All Hail General Ursus!
Excellent list ! Good human 👏

“That's what I'm worried about. Later. Later we'll do something about pollution. Later we'll do something about the population explosion. Later we'll do something about the nuclear war. We think we've got all the time in the world, but how much time has the world got? Somebody has to begin to care.” One of the best speeches in film. Still holds true.

Well, I wouldn't go so high on #2 probably, but yeah, great video. P.S. I just finally finished the OG PotA novel and really enjoyed it, though the Dr Zaius in that is very much a kind of incompetent bureaucrat who enjoys flattery too much. But the novel would make for another really interesting topic some time!
My favorite is Urco from the t.v. show
I thought dr zaius should have been higher but other than that great video! You should make a top 5 planet of the apes deaths next
I grew up with the 70 POTA series so I have Urko in my Top 10. Even though that show was not received, its a good Saturday rewatch type of show you put on to just enjoy
BRAVO !!!!!!! 💯💯💯💯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great video once again. Honestly, I really can't pick between the Colonel, hasslein, koba or zaius. To me they all represent what makes the Ape franchise so great- 'bad guys' with the most logical motivations ever, that make u realize every villain is the hero of their own story, and that right or wrong, good or bad, is sometimes relative, but that kindness and empathy are not. Over all tho, I think Koba is probably my favorite character
I wish Proximus was in the whole trilogy he would have been an interesting character to have around .
@Ape-Nation

Good list, for me it is General Ursus
Yeah, Koba’s basically “So, what if we took Thade… and just made him make sense”
Dr. Zaius, Dr. Hasslein, Thade, Koba, (can't decide between Ursus and Proximus)
I’d love to see an interaction between Proximus and Colonel McCullough.
Yes!!!!
I think in 5 years you'll be saying Mae is your favorite villain.

Thade was vicious and intimidating as fuck. I remember thinking what if someone tried to pet him XD
I Agree
1. Koba 2. Colonel 3. Proximus Caesar 4. Dr. Hasslein 5. General Thade honorable mentions: Sylva & Zaius
Koba hands down is my favorite villain of the franchise. He replaced Dr. Zaius on my list but I also always had a soft spot for Aldo. When I was a kid I loved that character. lol I also agree that while Marky Mark and the monkey bunch wasn’t a very good movie Tim Roth did a hell of a job as Thade.
Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd Good list, I agree strongly and I would rank the villains the some way.
Great video Ape Nation loved planet of the apes villains my favs are 1.Koba 2. Dr. Zaius 3.DR. Otto Hasslein 4. Proximus Caesar 5. General Thade 6. General Ursus 7.Colonel Attar 8.Colonel McCullough 9.Governor Breck 10.Sylva
Low key rooted for Koba, great list, sad Claude Atkins didnt make an even honorable mention
1 Colonel McCoullough 2 Koba 3 Proximus 4 Dr Zaius 5 Sylva
DR. HASSLEIN APPRECIATION!!!! He's truly my favorite antagonist from the originals, also my second all time favorite just after Koba. (Escape is also my favorite of the sequels, but that's a different conversation.) Dr. Hasslein's arguments are just so compelling and understandable. We love Zira and Cornelius because we know them, but their mere EXISTENCE is proof that human intelligence will die out and humans will be reduced to instinct-driven animals. Their existence is frightening, so while you love them, it's also 100% reasonable why a scientist like Hasslein would be very disturbed and seek to stop it at all costs. I can't fault him for his fears, only his actions. And that's what makes him such a gotdamn great antagonist.

100% agree!
My favorite was always Urko. Growing up in the '80s, I got to see reruns of episodes of The Series in syndication more frequently than the films, and I always enjoyed Mark Lenard's performance in the role🦍 Granted, yes, he's little more than a watered-down Ursus, but my own familiarity with the character supercedes much negative judgment 👍
Yes, and I thought the Cornell should of been Proximus. Yes, I agreed with the list. I liked the blonde Ape too.
These would have to be my top five: 1. Koba 2. The Colonel 3. Proximus Caesar 4. Dodge Landon 5. Sylva Honorable Mentions: Dr. Zaius and General Thade
Here are my picks… 1. “Koba” Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2. “Dr. Zaius” Planet of the Apes (1968) 3. “Colonel J. Wesley McCullough” War for the Planet of the Apes 4. “Proximus Caesar” Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 5. “General Thade” Planet of the Apes (2001)
I agree with you for the most part. Zaius would be my #1 but putting him in the top 3 is acceptable to me.
I pretty much agree with you on this list. As to Dr. Zaius and Dr. Hasslein. I am conflicted which is the worst villain. They both strike me as the same type of villain but one is an Ape and the other is a Human. In my type 5 I would probably have to put them as a tie. Both are the top villains in the original series.
@Ape-Nation

I think part of what makes Hasslein slightly more compelling to me is that he comes across a little more empathetic (until the end at least). Especially as a human, he makes it hard to totally disagree with his arguments in the movie.
@SnakePlug
Ай бұрын
I wonder what a conversation would be like between the two
My Personal Top 5 are...... 1 Koba 2 Dr Zaius 3 the Colonel 4 Proximus Caesar 5 Red HM to Sylva, Dreyfus & Jacobs
it would have been interesting if Dr Zaius was in Escape From The Planet Of The Apes. I would have loved to see him and Dr Hasselien fight each other. that would open the story up to so many possibilities. he would inevitably die at the end of the movie with Cornelius and Zira. what if Dr Zaius brought one of his grandchildren to 1973. and the descendants of his grandson would eventually lead to the law giver centuries later.
Could you do a top 5 moments from the planet of the apes series?

Can't argue with your list, but General Ursus should have gotten an honorable mention.

Urus is entertaining to me, but too much of a one note ineffective villain imo.
To me, Koba is the same type of villain as Magneto from X-Men. _This is ont a bad thing,_ Magneto is considered one of the best Marvel villains for a reason, and it feels like they successfully implemented a similar backstory and motivation to Koba has had been done with Magneto. A story of needless persecution and suffering, the drive to never let such a thing happen again, *no matter the cost.* Admirable, relatable, and no less tragic even as the hypocrisy hits down the line.
I know it’s not good to be negative. However it would be cool and interesting to see you 5 least favourite villains because I personally like General Ursus.

I don't think the amount of time he's in the movie matters, it's all about how he's used and his impact as a villain to me.
Koba The Colonel Dr. Zaius Hasslein Proximus Caesar I feel like you can forget Dr. Zaius is a villain, until you remember he had Landon lobotomized
you know i thank you need to cover novals comics and games abut planet of the apes but thats just me
Good list, but I would have put in THE MUTANTS from BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES ( I wish Woody Harrelson's Colonel from 'WAR' had been named MENDEZ - he could have been commemerated then as "Mendez The First" thousands of years later ).
Koba is one of the best villians in movie history, period.
I wanna know what would happpen If Koba met zauis?.
I disagree with not wanting the ending fight to happen, but when they first threw hands and Caesar humiliated him, yeah i felt bad then. But during the final fight he murdered Ash and such, ape had killed ape, so he sealed his fate by then.
Hasslein hive rise up!
Urko was the best villian in the earlier ape films but over all koba is the best villian

Koba Dr. Zaius Tim Roth - I mean Thade He is the best part about that Tim Burton remake. Colonel Wesley McCullough Dr. Hasslein I hated him for killing our beloved apes
I kind of feel bad for koba😢 Dawn of the planet of the apes 🦍🦧
I have to disagree slightly about your description of Koba. I agree he starts out sympathetic, but by the end I definitely wanted Caesar to kill him and I kind of wish he had a more brutal death
Once Koba kills Ash then he loses all sympathy from me. That's when he becomes irredeemable and you want Caesar to win that fight.
Ape Not Kill Ape
Urko
I will disagree that Dr Zaus is not a bad guy and how you are betraying him in like he’s Thanos for Ape World. In many Zaus is the hero. His Faith makes him such, his love for his kind made him such and what he was willing to do for ape kind made him such. You’re on the right side if you are an ape unlike Taylor who was a human and a lot of us would side with Taylor because he is a human. This story is more than villains and heroes. It’s not as black and white as you are betraying it to be. I suggest to all your viewers. Think out of the box of the human mind and you might find something that is greater than all of us
