The top 3 (underrated) whiskey cocktails for whiskey connoisseurs

Ойын-сауық

For all you whiskey connoisseurs out there, I’ve got 3 cocktails for you that will be worth adding to your arsenal.
I teamed up with my buddy Josh Gall, a true whiskey connoisseur with an extensive collection to get his tasting notes and thoughts about each drink. We needed an expert opinion!
These are great for when you don't feel like drinking your whiskey straight or in an Old Fashioned. And a couple of them are also perfect for when you have company over and you want to be able to offer a wider range of beverages while still being able to use your whiskey collection.
A couple of them are lesser-known, but each one pairs with whiskey in a different way and each one has a slighter different use case.
They require modifiers, but these modifiers are well worth it to have behind your bar.
Cocktail #1: Vieux Carré
• ¾ oz rye whiskey
• ¾ oz cognac
• ¾ oz sweet vermouth
• ½ oz Bénédictine
• 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
• 2 dashes aromatic bitters
Cocktail #2: Cameron’s Kick
• ¾ oz Liber & Co. Almond Orgeat Syrup (bit.ly/3BJyf6v)
• 1 oz Irish whiskey
• 1 oz blended scotch
• ¾ oz lemon juice
Cocktail #2: Backsliding Presbyterian
¾ oz Liber & Co. Fiery Ginger Syrup (bit.ly/3HeaUe9)
2 oz bourbon whiskey
½ oz Campari
1 oz lime juice
2-3 oz club soda
Do you have any favorite whiskey-based cocktails? We’d love to try them! Let us know below.
Cheers y’all! 🌵

Oh my! Look what deliciousness I can make once I'm allowed alcohol again #orgeat #fieryginger xo 🥃 Thank you! Fiery Ginger and club soda wonderful for now. Pedantic PS - Apologies more rightly to Amos Milburn - even Thorogood incorrectly credited John Lee Hooker as writer of the song Holly in barren CT

Oooo, you're right! Thank you for pointing that out! Per Wikipedia "written by Rudy Toombs and recorded by Amos Milburn in 1953." Apologies to Amos Milburn! Hope you feel better soon!

We're, kind of, in a wasteland of good ingredients for cocktails, generally the only chioce on vermouths is Martini & Rossi and one that's even worse. I like to occasionally make a Manhattan using Oloroso sherry instead of vermouth (I'll also play with Dubonnet and Lillet rouge), and can't get it anywhere. A trip to the city is always fun though!
