How do you know who to trust when it comes to getting your All on 4 Full Mouth Dental Implant Treatment done? It's tough to find the right dentist for the job - but by asking these 3 questions (plus the BONUS questions), you'll be able to make a more informed decision in your Dental Implant Consultation and flex a few dental terms to let them know that you did your research.
BONUS QUESTIONS TO ASK:
Bonus #1 (From Question No. 2): If you still have some natural teeth and the doctor tells you that your case will be STAGED with a removable "healing" denture - ask if there's a way to avoid the denture by giving you a temporary fixed bridge on some of the remaining natural teeth. You might ask - "I understand that we'll be staging my case - but do you see a creative way to avoid putting me in a temporary denture?"
This is a solution that we use in many of our Staged cases to avoid putting anyone in a removable denture. The process may take a little more work, but we know it's more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable for the patient.
Question No. 4:
"Do you use a digital workflow?"
This question goes almost hand-in-hand with Question No. 3. If the doctor is using digital technologies vs. the traditional old-school way of doing things - it's a sign that their work will likely be more accurate (fewer try-ins, better fit, etc.) and that they are in the current generation. Talk with the doctor about their workflow and the technology they use. You especially want to hear that they use CBCT Xrays (3D Xrays) and Intraoral Scanners.
Question No. 5:
"What sedation options do you prefer for All on X cases?"
Your goal is to be comfortable and relaxed during the procedure. Likewise, the Dentist's goal should ALSO be to have you comfortable and relaxed during the procedure. You want your provider to offer IV Sedation or even General Sedation for tougher cases. If they don't offer these options or tell you that you'll be under a local anesthetic - do yourself a favor and move on to the next consult.
