I have an old POD HD500x. I was considering buying a Helix at well over 1000 bucks, then these things came out. I bought one, put it in my effects loop, defeated my amps, and OMG, I have a brand new board! I've been so impressed that I bought a second one . One is an OD pedal, and one is a clean and OD amp. For more boost I just hit an effect in the HD to push the front end, a boost. An added bonus is, they are black, like my board, and they attach nicely on either side of the LCD display, nothing on the floor but the POD footprint. Nice and compact. Effectively, for 360 bucks, I have something as pristine and flexible as a Helix, maybe more so! I'm playing through freakin Dumbles! I just bought Matchless captures and a third party pedal pack, Saldano, Revv, Blues breaker, Govr nor, Fuzz Face, Pie, Screamer, Klon, etc. Hell, my rig is endless!

They are brilliant, aren’t they? There’s no rules when putting your rig together. One of my nicest sounding Strats is an Indonesian Squier that I bought second hand for $180!!! Great analogy with your HD500 and the Tonex - yes, you do have something to rival any Helix setup! Thanks for stopping by.

Aww mate thanks for this. Mine is on order, hopefully turning up Tuesday next week from Thomann. I'm going to use it in the FX loop with my Helix floor to increase the number of amps available to me. Great playing, and great to see a Master Lead Combo in the background. Those old solid states are fantatic beasts. I've got one with an old faded grille and a Lead 12, Reverb 12 and a Bass 12! Keep up the good work, and greatings from the UK.

It's a mini first aid kit as an emergency backup in my ears in case your main set up breaks down at a gig providing you've loaded your own tones properly into it, it can get you out of trouble yes, but the software is a headache is the word on the street I'm also hearing from recent owners particularly, the live tweaking aspect is not great in frequency ranges most needed on the fly and its reliant on a FRFR to get into the zones of whats been loaded into it provided they've been recorded (captured) properly in the first instance, I'm not much of a fan of playing other players personal snapshots personally, most unfortunately are difficult to avoid..but certainly not impossible to avoid if preferred. Chances highly probably are, most players usually gravitate to around 3-4 mainstay tones with their usual wet/delay/dist/overdrive preferences on the fly when live mostly and if your current set up is not already able to provide such to your ability to dial it in, then I'd try some different outboard units first to avoid the fluffing about with software dependant tweaks tbh...ta for the vid!

just adjust the trim input to not clip with pedals, works really good! and for my taste i like the trim input on the range for a boost pedal, even without the boost on, the amps sounds better for me

How are you monitoring? I ask because you can be monitoring with headphones from the Tonex One, when usb connected to your Mac/PC and also be getting signal from the software, which will sound horrible. Check the monitor options in the software.

I would spring for the full pedal if you can afford it unless you just plan to switch between one or two patches most of the time. Changing presets is fiddly AF, I can't imagine trying to do it on a gig.

You can put it in "Browse" mode so that you can cycle through all 20 presets/tone models stored on the pedal. In its standard mode, you can cycle between two tones with the footswitch. You can also put it in Stomp mode to have access to the third preset/tone model.
