They never said Aliens, so I'm expecting them to accidentally (and paradoxically) bring some kind of hyper-evolved creatures from the future by accident when they invent time travel. Then the story will flip and it'll be about the soldiers jumping back to the present to stop time travel being invented, stopping not only the war and the creatures being brought back, but also (paradoxically again) stop the humanless future that allowed the creatures to evolve in the first place.

@@FinalFlash1000 I'm getting a 'Tabula Rasa' feel from this trailer, but yeah - this doesn't 'seem' like a great way to harness that time travel technology vs. aliens in a time war. To riff on the current meme of UFO's are real, for a moment, I'd play with those being the forces from the future hiding in our present in secret enclaves while they wage their war from the here and now. Essentially secret staging areas. They ignore us because we're effectively background NPCs related to their purpose - and then a hero (Chris Pratt) gets hauled into the craziness. Plot armored hero action ensues on the way to victory.

I am really surprised by the massive numbers of comments made by persons whom have no knowledge of the movie. I just watched the movie and it is the best sci-fi movie for years. Aliens have wiped out mankind, the remaining population manage to get a transport device that links the population of 30 years prior - to fight for the future which are their children. The reason you see persons falling from the skies is the transport device was damaged that caused the incident. This is a brilliant sci-fi movie that is very, very moving, graphic war scenes and monsters.

I feel like at this point in movies, it's because there's some other messaging that was more important than the villain. Like how Starship Troopers was more political than literal, or even the Matrix. Obviously humans make terrible batteries, the point wasn't that our future is like that, the point was our present is already like that. We're already slaves to a large machine and virtually asleep.
