The Tommy Tiernan Show - Season 8 Episode 1

The Tommy Tiernan Show - Season 8 Episode 1
Tommy returns with guests Dylan Moran, Sarah De Lagarde, Sean Ronayne, MC Fred Cooke with music from Huun Huur Tu
No stranger to television, Tommy has appeared on some of the biggest and most established chat shows in the world. But, for some time, Tommy has wanted to host his own TV chat show - one with a difference. It has all the ingredients of a normal chat show but there was a catch - neither the host or the audience know the identity of the guests until they walk out on stage!
The Tommy Tiernan Show is recorded in front of a live audience and will include stand-up from Tommy, live music and plenty of chat….. with a little help from fellow comedian Fred Cooke thrown in

Moran is a poet. Just talking. His use of language is such a joy. An inherent Joy. Conjuring thoughts and ideas and relatable inspiring wordsmithery.. This is fantastic lads. Thank you. I didnt know I needed it.

I do wonder if Dylan sought Tommy out in this manner on purpose, for some comfort or for a familiar 'safe' space while he is going through a rough time. When he was announced as the surprise guest you can visibly see Tommy going through a bit of a loop, there was several emotions happening all at once from being taken aback, to being concerned, to then being nervous, and happy, and also cautious to name a few. They are old friends after all...or so I believe, so it would make sense on the face of it. It's also a way for Dylan to indirectly address the fans and let them know he is aware of his behavior, and that (in his own words) he is feeling rather stupid about it. Although, he needn't feel that way, we are all human at the end of the day.

People like DM suffer in the real world because very few in the real world can understand them, truly understand them. And that can be horribly alienating. If you don't have some sort of an anchor (be it a person or a place), as TT very well put it, you keep drifting around and after a while you are exhausted and that's exactly where DM is currently at, by his own admission. Hope he finds that anchor soon.

Its bloody beautiful. Moran describes life in words I didn't have. And its a joy. Such a joy. To hear them both. I needed this today and i'm grateful for it. I heard good news today for first time in a while. I heard a gospel choir through a church window on a breezy day. I came home and I pressed on this. And I remember why we do what we do trying to create. Painting or writing or whatever ...and its very true - music is medicine.

wonderful to see the full episode finally. Thank you for finally opening it up as a full episode. The earlier snippets it seems gives a different impression. In this, Dylan appears his usual self, honest and realistic but also a natural born creative with some excellent insight and advice. I too feel pain when I don't create. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. A beautiful, sensitive, creative, original, firey comedian, thank you for giving this interview Dylan and letting us into your life. We think a lot of you too.

Any time I listen to Dylan Moran it does something wonderful to my head, even, nay particularly, when he's talking through the black dog. He mines that evil gold in such a fertile way, if I can mulch my metaphors. Inspires me, so it does. Gowan to f*ck and write that book M. Moran, I'll read the sh*t out of it. And stay dark, f*ck the begrudgers, when you come out the other end you'll light up the world you f*ckin modern day Diogenes you.

He basically admits in this interview that he fkd up and it was too much at once, but I guess you can hardly blame the guy for wanting to stay busy if his personal life is up sh*ts creek without a paddle... or an anchor, as Tommy puts it.
