@george floyd Nice children's fantasy, but no. I'll take justice, and judgment, in life, rather than pretend. Pretty sure if any omnipotent deity existed, and cared, then this murder wouldn't have happened. If a deity exists and isn't able to do anything, then they're impotent, and I don't know why I should care about them. If they exist and *won't* do anything, then they're apathetic, and I have doubts about after-life punishment, given their apathy. If you argue that it was "meant to be" and this lovely young woman had to be brutally murdered...for some reason? then you're evil. Your deity is evil. And the deity probably isn't going to punish what was apparently "meant to be." I'm just going to say "no deity exists" and deal with the here-and-now.

Obviously murderers are very "gross", they are evil, but in saying that *all* people who call themselves Witches are gross is an overgeneralization. I actually know something about this, so I am going to reply. I'm a Anthropology/Social Science major who focused on Minority Religions and Subcultures. There are many different people who call themselves Witches, some are herbal healers, and some belong to a very positive actual religion called Wicca, which is recognized by the Armed forces, the US Government, and by Religious Scholars and Social Scientists who have taken the effort to seriously study them. Wiccans are people who tend to be very Ecological, and who worship a loving Mother Goddess. They are very ethical, kind, honest people who don't worship Satan or call up demons or curse people. They are actually forbidden to do any harm to anyone. Did you know that? They frequently get blamed for things that Satanists and evil cult members do ( both the FBI and Law Enforcement does not recognize Wicca as a cult, and they've studied it in depth). I've known these people for 35 years, I even married one of them. I'm been to many of their beautiful seasonal rituals, lots of colorful costumes, music and poetry but no sacrifices or devil worshiping. If they knew of anyone committing a crime, they would be the first to call the police. I know from personal experience that most people have misconceptions about them and treat them badly. Those female groupies were not "Witches". Wicca doesn't involve murder or vampirism or "inhaling someone's last breath". My husband was the kindest, most honorable man I have ever known. It disturbs me when people call *all* Witches, including my husband, gross. Thinking God is a mother and loving nature isn't gross.

These stories are so horrific and evil that they almost sound like fiction. You do a great job delivering them. But this is a heartbreaking story, Sydney was so innocent. This setup and betrayal, the worst possible. I’m happy that for the past 10+ years, that every night before I go to bed, I pray for all the people who love animals and nature, it’s a special prayer for a special purpose. And though it can’t stop all the terrible things that happen on this earth, it can have a special value, and I’m very glad to know that Sydney was covered by these prayers, and hopefully those of other people as well. RIP to a beautiful sweet soul.

This case is so heartbreaking! At 22, my time on this earth was nearly ended by a dating app meet-up. I remember thinking no one would ever find me as I'd traveled to another state and told no one. I would strongly advise against dating apps or at least meeting in public for the first six months. People usually start to drop the mask and show themselves within six months to a year. My sympathy goes out to all of those affected by dating app violence.

I met my boyfriend on Tinder. We texted for a good two weeks before I actually agreed to meet him in person. We went to the movies and to dinner. It took another few days before I agreed for him to come to my house, which I was sharing with my brother. Before I went to his house, a good month after we started to officially date, I gave his address and phone number to my brother and sister. When she asked me if I was scared something would happen, I told her "No, but I watch enough true crime shows and one of the first thing I think is how stupid they are to go to a stranger's appartment without telling anybody where they are going" 6 years later, I'm still wtih him :)

thank you for having the humility to say this when so many others don't. the ugly truth is that any one of us can fall this far from grace with enough isolation. any one of us can be wounded and led astray by someone seeking to isolate us from our social groups. any one of us could become detached enough from our human social needs/tools to hurt someone. every person who's ever committed violence against another person _learned_ it from somewhere; no one is born like that. it's taught to people in particularly vulnerable positions, because they're subject to it themselves in the first place. violence is a double-edged source of trauma, and the human psyche suffers significantly at either end. how could someone be okay before, during or after a violent crime?

I am absolutely certain that people who are this evil are compelled to destroy beautiful souls like hers because they resent the fact that their souls are full of darkness while her soul is undeniably bright and beautiful. They're hatefully compelled to destroy the light that radiates from truly good people because they shine so brightly. They are, to put it simply, hateful and jealous of the purity that they cannot possess. And, if they can't have it, they're for damn sure going to do their very best to destroy the people that can. In all honesty, it's a clear sign of their pathetically weak corruption. I'd like to believe that they're going rot in hell. As a domestic violence survivor who met some of my abusers through dating services pre-internet, and over dating apps later, I learned to keep myself safe by embracing life without dating or getting into any kind of intimate relationships. I’ve been very content and at peace for the several years since I stopped trying to live up to other people’s expectations for my life; having endured the drama and dangers that were always a part of living up to their expectations instead of listening to or valuing my own intuition. It took many years of suffering through many traumas and repeated cycles of abuse before I was able to garner the strength to push back against the negativity of other people’s opinions, discover, respect, and self-validate my own values and boundaries, and follow my true path of joyful solitude.

ALWAYS keep your dates in public places and NEVER go home with a stranger nor take them to your home. Always let someone know who you're meeting, where you're meeting them, what you're wearing, and where you met the person as well as their "handle" on the apps and any other information you might have exchanged. When I lived alone and used an online dating service, I let a note on my kitchen table of everything plus the description of their vehicle (I usually asked what vehicle I should be looking for to know if they're there or have arrived) plus I'd write down their license plate number if we decided on another date. I was stupid once and ended up with a stalker for about a month from that stupid decision. Please be careful.

Why is it that the people who go on and on about "freedom of speech" never seem to know what it actually means? it only means that the government can't throw you in jail for having an opinion. it doesn't mean that other people, businesses, and other private institutions can't call you out on whatever you decide to say. For example, I married a guy I only knew for two days because he said he would commit suicide if I don't. I could not talk to my parents because I was afraid of being accused of losing my virginity and disrespecting them. I decided it was easier to marry a manipulator then ruin my reputation.
