The tig welding mistake that drives me INSANE

I make this mistake to this day if I'm not paying attention, and when tig welding nice stuff, it can really ruin a project for me. It's kind of one of those "once I see it, I can't UNSEE it" kind of things.
It's the smallest detail, and it's amazing how many people miss it. But on the flip side, it's also one of those things that's SO SIMPLE to take care of. So check out today's episode, hopefully I can save someone from missing this detail.

@@carpediemarts705 I sure hope so! I've been learning to weld for about a month and I'm in love. I just completed my first paid custom railing, and while it's not perfect I've learned a ton, and shamefully I'm a little impressed with myself😆 And, youtube seems to like the results!

I'd like to hear about some of your more difficult accomplishments and some of the mitigation or out of the box solutions you've come up with. you have a really unique style. based on your background it sounds like you can also speak to the structural natures and strength of given welds too. I'd like to hear about places you've accomplished some of these joints in application. one of my biggest issues in welding is trusting the strength of the weld to anything besides coupon work. not asking to get the structural engineering, just some thoughts on loading, strength etc. always led by safety. also. when do you say no to a job? red flags? THANK YOU. i look forward to these every Friday you drop them.

Yes well said Dusty, in any type of welding it is definitely an intermediate to very experience welding procedure to get right. In your pictures from work what is the finish on the aluminum called. The aluminum looks like it has been cleaned with a very course wire wheel.

The perfect start seems like it's bommeranging over the root and not getting full root penetration. Not that it's weak but the leading edge of the puddle should fully dissolve the root into the puddle before filler is added.
