I love how they took the original song and made it badass instead of turning into a bunch of random distortion and screaming. This is damned good.

Whoever mixed this needs a raise And at 3:10 they synched her slamming the car door with the bass hit. Nice touch

i remember when i was young and had my first beer with my mom. she showed me this song, the live version of garth. she was in tears about some memories.. and it totally blew me away. she's in heaven now, and everytime the thunder rolls i think of her more than ever. miss you, mum.

This gave me chills. When I was a little girl, the original scared me (the thunder) I grew up to fall in love with the song. Never knew I needed this version. It took my love for this song mixed with my love for rock/metal and just made it that much better! ❤

You seriously need to hear more cover songs. This is very good, but pales in comparison to covers like Black Magic Woman by Santana, Hound Dog by ELVIS, I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett, Knockin on Heaven's Door by Guns n Roses, Simple Man by Shinedown, You Really Got Me by Van Halen, All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. Twist and Shout by the Beatles, Respect by Aretha Franklin, Proud Mary by Tina Turner, Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin, Changes by Charles Bradley, Tainted Love by Soft Cell.. just to name a few.

I’ve long since had a thing for good covers and I simply noted this is one of the better ones I’ve heard in my opinion. Shinedown’s rendition of Simple Man is also in my opinion about the best cover song EVER done by anyone. I’d also note both Metallica’s and Dave Fenley’s versions of Turn The Page in your list. They’re both incredible. I’ll include Higher Love by Charming Horses as well. Trust me on this man, I’ve heard a metric fuckton of covers and many of which I’ve enjoyed a lot. But they are of my personal opinion, so I’ll respect that of your own in your comment. Bottom line is, every decent to amazing cover song is an homage to the original in it’s popularity and enjoyment. All respectable in that regard

@@nolanboles8492 It was always implied in the song anyway. The storm is a metaphor, he’s using it as a contextual representation of a climactic build up. Without the last verse, you’re left on a cliff hanger with no resolution to the story.

Hey, I get it. Music has helped me through some of the worst times of my life, there is always a ton of songs that you can relate to. Keep your head up, things always get better in the end. Like Rocky said "being tough ain't about how hard you hit, it's how hard you get hit and keep pushing forward". Sooner or later all that meant so much no longer means that much. It's up to you whether you lie there and take it or you stand up and start again.

lol, I just listened to the original for the first time in probably 10+ years... then I looked up cover versions, and I totally agree with you. I always remembered the chorus hitting really hard, and this is closer to what I had in my mind than the actual song

Garth Brooks is the greatest entertainer to ever grace the stage. He has been, and probably always will be, my favorite musician. That being said, I like this version better. Bravo sirs. Bravo.

I love how you guys didn't really change the song. U sang it how it was meant to be sang. You just did it in your sound. Even with the rock element I could still hear garth in the song(not literally of course lol) but really well done. You actually gained a new fan.
