Shinzen responds to a student asking about the "shape" of simultaneous expansion and contraction. Shinzen shares that the shape is "concentric spheres spreading out and concentric spheres coming back", or "it's like a three-dimensional fountain that gushes from the center, and gathers to the center" at the same time. Shinzen then talks about the large scale shape of the human brain, "roughly" how it works, and how there seems to be a simultaneous gushing and gathering of sensory input and motor output.
