The Third Reich wavers | July - September 1944 | WW2

Ойын-сауық

As the liberation of France began, the citizens of a nation oppressed since 1940 celebrated with delight the arrival of the Allies. But there was still much to do, both on the western and eastern front. For Hitler, the writing was on the wall, and when one of his own, Claus von Stauffenberg, attempted to assassinate the Führer, he nearly succeeded.

    Document qui reprend le mensonge des allemands désobéissants à Hitler quant à la destruction de Paris, dans la réalité ça leur était impossible compte tenu des 20000 allemands encore dans la capitale qui auraient subi le bombardement...

At the conclusion of the war the Catholic Church set up an escape route for the nazi's so they could escape justice and flee to South America.

    All do respect Bernard Montgomery screwed up royally on D-Day Cain should have been taken in 1-2 days but Montgomery hastened giving the German’s time to re-enforce Cain causing a month and a half battle to take it causing very high casualties unnecessary deaths , my father in law was in a tank group sent in to help Montgomery get out of the mess he created , his tank was hit spent 18 months in a hospital and always said so many young men lost their life do to Montgomerys hesitation on D-Day

    Interesting and informative excellent photography job making it easier for viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Historians did a very good job presenting actual facts from fiction. Class A research project. Orator presented the documentary very well. Special thanks to the allied forces/civilian resistance. Who fought/perished/survived fighting the axis powers. Also the motion/still photographers making this documentary possible!!! Fortunately the German armies were slowly waning with supplies/soldiers/especially fuel. Rough combat operations on both sides. If shortages weren't the situation. The allied forces casualties would have been 10 fold!!!

    The "V 1" had a German nickname: "Eifelschreck". "Eifel" ist a hilly area in Western Germany at the border with Belgium and Luxembourg and "Schreck" is German for "horror". The "V 1" earned its nickname because so many crashed inside of Germany and never made it to their intended target area.

  • @paulmalore

    @paulmalore

    Жыл бұрын

    I didn't know about the nickname " Eiffelschreck" but it's only too likely. The targets for the V1 were: 1- London 2- Antwerp (a useful harbour when available to the allies) 3- Liège (because the bridges on the river Meuse - or Maas) A significant flaw in the V1 system was that the more were catapulted, the more they tended to fall short. This was exploited by the British to keep most of the damage south of London (see "Most secret war", RV Jones). Now, this was only possible because all the German agents in England had been captured and under British control. And, what's more, the British KNEW that no agent was at large (perhaps this was an unique case in history). The trick could work for London, but of course was more chancy if applied on the continent. I have no information there.

    Odd. Almost no mention of Operation Cobra, the breakout from Normandy that collapsed the German Army in northern France and opening the road to Paris. Possibly not British enough? Also, Eisenhower is portrayed as an avuncular, anodyne figure, devoid of military gravitas. But not only was he an extremely accomplished staff officer, and an expert in logistics, he also had the political skills to keep the allied generals from fighting each other. It is hard to see the insufferable Montgomery (Churchill’s words) as able to fulfill that role.

You're just intoxicated by Putin's propaganda Stalin have numerous time asked to allies a second front since 1942 as he have said we will be beaten at the end if you don't land in Europe. As it wasn't possible to be ready until 1944 allies have concluded to supply the red army with materials... British since 1941 USA since autumn 1942. Red army have receiving 14000 aircrafts 400000 trucks and jeeps 1 million tons food, surgical material, blankets, 1000 locomotives, 10000 railway boxcars . Rwd army would never win without massive aid of allies.
