This is a good documentary but just a primer. I would encourage anyone interested in this subject to read “Rise and Fall of the Third Rich” by William Shirer. He was a journalist working for UPI and CBS radio from 1934 to 1940. It’s an amazing piece of work that has received much acclaim though it had its detractors too. German scholars hated it largely because they were afraid it would fan anti-German sentiment. Others didn’t think it reflected accurately deep seated German culture and therefore wasn’t “scholarly” enough. I loved it and the avalanche of data and sub-storys keep me picking it up occasionally and reading parts of it to this day (35 years after I first read it).

I don’t understand how France became one of the winning countries! When she capitulated! Yes, the French made a contribution, but the Indians also fought... the message is clear...

Je trouve dommage de flouter les images dérangeantes… c’est ces mêmes images qui doivent servir de leçon aux générations future. Le risque est de rendre supportable une partie de l’histoire qui est malheureusement insupportable.
