What?

watching this and I got curious if they knew what they were saying of if those were just random words. Turns out cockatoos and parrots DO know what they're saying and will frequently group words together into concepts that relate to how they, as birds, live their life. "I got you" likely was Gotcha's way of telling the others where they were, "they're watching" likely means how this is getting recorded for people to see, "I want down" likely means that they would like to go somewhere else, etc. The more you know, I guess

I knew, that "they knew", years ago, by seeing my friends' African Grey parrots. The first time I saw them fling their drink troughs from their perches, and repeatedly saying "More O.J.!", I knew that there was a light on upstairs with these creatures.
