I had absolutely no idea that the wagon wheel was so famous.. I've NEVER eaten there once. I also went to Howard college with Ben LMFAO and had no idea he was a direct descendant of Davy Crockett. I better go try it next time I am down to fix my sister's plumbing (about 3 times per year due to Big Spring's awful water supply).

Im 95 and love the burgers.

There was actually 4 Birdwell lane & 4th street, one over near the entrance to the base one on south hwy 87 and fm 700 and of course the one on Scurry. Late 60s early 70 would cruise from 1 to next looking to see what was happening. Worked as a projectionist for R & R theaters R/70, Ritz & Jet drive in, couple of years also Sahara

I spent many happy times going to Disney movies at thr Ritz.

I’m from Big Spring. Used to be 3 Wagon Wheels. That one, the one over by where the old VW dealership was, and the one we went to the most, which was over on Birdwell Lane and 4th. Back in the day, the hippie (real hippies), would hang out on the east side of the wagon wheel. My parents would order pitchers of beer, we’d sit there and listen to music

I was actually looking for a video about the spring at Big Springs . I just read several articles about it on Google and I'm wondering if you can tell me anything about it because when I looked it up just now it says : PERMANENTLY. CLOSED . I really wanted to see it and after reading about these other Springs in the area and how they're virtually non-existent I feel like crying and I feel like I want to vomit

My Dad was Air Force 22 years we were stationed at Webb in 73. I actually worked there slicing fries, my first job. I went to Goliad and played with Kenneth Coffey who later played fo The Redskins. We had fun in Big Springs ​@jamesellis9467

I remember going out to the highway and having a pitcher of beer and frosted mugs brought out to the car on a window hanger. The pizza burger is still one of my favorite burgers It was good times in 1977 to 1980. Johnny Henson. Class of 1977

Looks so good would love to visit and taste some of those great looking Burger's.

I wish that I was sitting there (instead of in Los Angeles) at the Wagon Wheel with Barbara and Ray Kennedy chowing down on one of those double decker pizza burgers! I'd even be willing to pay the tab! What a wonderful way to spend a sunny West Texas afternoon! Thanks for the video.

My mom and grandparents grew up in big spring. since the 50s.

Ms. Macke Millaway used to have the best burgers back in the early 70s. Her cafe was down near the bottom of the Settles. By the old CIC finance, where my mom worked.

Is this The Wagon Wheel East or West? When I went through pilot training at Webb AFB in '72-'73 (Class 73-06) there was one on each end of town, but we would most often go to East even though it was further from base because the food was better. I haven't been back to Big Spring since a short visit in '74; glad to hear the Wagon Wheel is still rockin'!

No its the east the OLD west one was close a long time ago its now a burrito stop I think. This 1 is located on Scurry street EAST of Gregg. Its kinda south of town, but no west to it at all.

Was stationed at Webb from Labor Day 71 to thanksgiving 72. I was an engine mechanic there. It was the best time I had in my 20 yrs

Pretty sure I have passed by this place while on my way to CO. I'll have to stop for lunch sometime!

FYI, my folks we’ren’t hippies, but good friends of our family, and parents of my buddy Mike, Terry and Doug Rountree, were. Beautiful people!

I remember "The Big M" (Masters) Drive in on highway 87, out south of town from "the old days" when I was there. Wonder if The Big M is still there?

15 years ago this was by far the best place to get a burger in town. Now it’s meh.

allan gana Paul Harvey even said in a radio cast “that big spring is the town to get away with murder” growing up in a town where all you can do is sit in parking lots, smoke weed, go bowling or drive up and down Gregg street all because of the city council doesn’t want to put back into the city and wants to charge to Much for franchise tax this is coming from are restaurant employee where the city will not allow us to expand our restaurant, we also have the highest rates or asthma and Thyroid in the area which is speculated to be linked the our refinery and possibly the “water” I.e. recycled sewer water. So before you tell someone that it’s the people who need to fix it try looking at our leadership

This guy had owned the place for maybe 4 years. I knew a woman that cleaned his house once a week. Weed everywhere. I also know I guy that helped him see it up after he bought the place. He took none of his advice. The food is horrible. But then again, I eat Ruth's Chris 10 times a year
