Yes yes, the authentic late 80’s VHS logo. Well done.
Terminator Resistance on Steam is pretty good, probably the best up-to-date Terminator game out there. Love seeing all the classics - I mostly tried to beat Terminator 2 on Sega Genesis back in the 90s, absolute torture wow lol.

Oliver, you did such a great job on this. I actually learned things I didn't know! It was a bummer when we found out we couldn't be "The Terminator" in the Terminator game, but thankfully game licensing has improved greatly over the years. I met James Cameron may years later, and I just wish I could have talked to him before we made the game. I personally love the Terminator universe he created. One other thing, this was our first Sega Megadrive game, we literally were reading badly photocopied instructions in Japanese trying to work out how to program the console. Crazy time.

Love your 'Canon' themed intro it filled me with nostaligia going to the cinema with my parents in the 80's!
“Imagine being as powerful, as ruthless, as thoroughly unpleasant as the Terminator.” That last part made me laugh.
Hopefully I don't come across as sycophantic or anything, but channels like this have helped me through tough times. And since I'm going through a tough time again at the moment, just wanna say content like this still helps. Cheers

Future Shock and SkyNet are sooooo underrated. Openworld(ish), story driven DOS fps with polygonal graphics before Quake! With Fiedel's music in glorious midi, capturing that T1 future war atmosphere perfectly. These 2 need more recognition!

Yes! Future Shock still holds up, really in all areas. The gameplay is pretty smooth, the visuals are great and the atmosphere is genuinely tense. Excellent game. Hoping that arrives on GOG sometime.
I loved Terminator 2029 on my 486 as a kid, a really unique experience at the time
I had the Master System version. I remember buying both it and Robocop vs Terminator with my birthday money like any self-respecting 12 year old in the early 90s would. Both were excellent. The Master System really was the little console that could. From Mortal Kombat to Batman Returns, they really did try to get everything on there!
Terminator, Shinobi and Alex Kidd in Miracle World were the first games I got with my master system. Oliver is not wrong it took me months to beat the first level in it and once i did that I was able to clear the game straight away
The Sega CD version is still one of my favorite games of all time
Have you played Future Shock, Oliver? It's brilliant. I played it back in the day and loved it. It's one of my fondest gaming experiences. I think it would deserve its own retrospective review.
Oh my god, I can't escape Tommy the Tank Engine Tallarico, who funnily enough, later claimed credit for a track of the Sega CD game done by Joey Kuras in a compliation CD he released, so thank you for acknowkedging Kuras,.In other words, "IT'S ALWAYS JOEY!"

The Terminator Sega CD soundtrack is among the best of all time, and sadly unknown to most people.
Always a consistent amount of care put in these retrospectives
The only video games about the first Terminator movie that I knew about where the NES, SNES, and Sega CD versions, mainly from watching AVGN. But I got to say, this was really fun and interesting watching you talk about the other versions of games based on the movie. Makes me wish that James Rolfe hopefully revisits the Terminator games someday and explores the rest of them. Speaking of which, are you planning to do another video like this but for games based on Terminators 2, 3, 4, and 5?
Thank you for mentioning Journey to Silius. It's a pretty good game in its own right! it also has one of the best soundtracks for the NES at the time, Stages 1 & 5 is a proper banger.

I got the Megadrive version on release back in the day and it was the first time I became aware of a publisher spending more money on promotion than developement of the game! Several mags gave away free Terminator sunglasses on the front cover and offered vaguely positive reviews. One said "the graphics are moodier than a Chris Isaak gig" 🤥I got the game home and felt completely ripped off - £45 for 10 minutes! That's equivalent to £120 today😵💫

that is the biggest problem. 4 levels is way too short, you could literally beat it in minutes.
Two Crude Dudes is one of my guilty pleasure, nostalgia games! Great video, as always. Love your in-depth dives on these old IPs. Keep it up!
I love the opening cut, it’s just like your film retro but game footage… I’d love more of these, maybe a companion piece for your film retros… thanks for sharing, mate!
I remember trying to play the SNES version back in the day. I gave up never having beat the first level.
I still have my Sega CD copy of The Terminator. Pretty good game, and the soundtrack by Tommy Tallarico ROCKS!
Tommy Tellarico? oh man, I remember when JC made the Terminator movie based on Tommy's music, including the Roblox oof. Orion couldn't afford it, though, so the sound was cut from the scene Kyle got oofed.
🥰 the intro
dude, I've been curious about that pc terminator game from 1990 since back then. I saw it in a magazine back then and never heard of it again, thanks for the video explaining. I've always thought it must not of been that good why i never heard of it again and now i know 👍
Stella production value as always.
I really like the "Cannon Films" intro/logo.
I found this video enjoyable and interesting. I was particularly interested by the cancelled NES The Terminator game, which I had never heard of before this video. Maybe a superimposer/video input device add-on could have been made for the NES to make "Dragon Lair"-like games.
The Terminator is the greatest sci if film ever made with T2 being the greatest sequel ever made. Quite the achievement by Mr Cameron
SkyNET did it for me. Captured a real vibe from the first movie.
thanks for this Oliver this was excellent i can't wait to show this to my friend who is a massive terminator fan as well and this is why love your reviews once again because you cover everything

I think it would be cool to have a game of The Terminator today. The graphics and animation would look great.
I love the logo at the beginning.
Great video, Oliver! I'm going to have to give several of these a try.
oliver reviewing games is always good
The T1 MS-DOS is easily my favorite of the movie based Terminator games. Its also IMO the closest to the movie because while the setting is bright you have to actually hunt for weapons and equipment then find Sarah instead of of just automictically getting your gear and locating Sarah when you reach the correct stages.
Great video, Oliver! I think I blotted out the memory of the NES Terminator game. I can now see why! 😉☮️😎🤘
I loved the Mega Drive Terminator games, always borrowed my friends copy of 1 and would've saved money buying Robo vs Terminator the amount of times I rented it out. Wish I'd played the Mega CD version that looks awesome.
I'm surprised how much the UK Sega CD version shot up in price. It feels like only yesterday I bought it for a fraction of that! The Mega Drive one holds a soft spot for me. I feel you hit the nail on the head with how repayable it is, especially as one gets older.
Great video! I lived the times of these games releases. SegaCD version was always the best IMO.
Awesome work Oliver always love your passion on reviews about cinema and games, much info and details . Cheers
these are really good videos. and i love the cannon style intro
Amazingly edited As always very very good info and good insight Keep it up
The Terminator on the Megadrive was awesome...too short but a great cool game.
0:02 Brilliant parody of the Cannon Films logo. You should do 1 at the end of a video which you pop your head out of water and say, "I'll be back!". I love the Terminator franchise. I would have loved to have played the 1992 Sega Mega Drive game of The Terminator. I remember seeing the advert of the game on my father's VHS recording of the 1992 ITV broadcast of Red Heat.
I LOVE this video before I even see it ! Thank you so much for that !
So many undeserving channels with millions of in subscribers. You deserve that Oliver I adore your videos.
The Sega CD game, the arcade game and the newer Resistance game is actually pretty rad! I always laughed when the terminator says he wanted a plasma rifle in the 40 watt range. That's pretty weak LOL. Maybe 1,400 watts would be more likely to get results.
Was really hoping to see more than a mention about the 4 other Bethesda Terminator games as unlike most of the other games here I haven't played them.
love the canon style intro at the beginning
Excellent video, very fun and informative :) My favorite of these games is definitely the Mega Drive version. The Mega CD version looks great and I really dig the music, but it was a bit too frustrating for me. I was happy to have played through it once, though. Hope you'll do Terminator 2 next!
Back in my childhood i never played Terminator 1 game based on the first movie. In fact, i never knew the first movie existed until much later, when i got my very first PC in my teenager years. Thus i started with Terminator 2 and played games only based on that movie. The one on NES, where i got stuck on bike riding levels, and the other one is a port of arcade rail shooter T2 The Arcade game, where i got stuck where you need to protect a truck, on a road to skynet, while it been attacked by terminators and hunter killers. I also had this massive book with cheat codes and guides for NES and Sega games, and it is there that i saw screenshots from another Terminator 2 game for Sega's console, based on second movie, that was a action game, and not rail shooter. And it is also there, where i saw the screenshots of the first Terminator game, based on movie. And after that i was interested to see the first movie, but i never saw it on TV, until i got my very first PC. And then one of my friends brought a disc with both Terminator movies, and we watched both movies back to back together. I was 13 years old at that point and... in comparison to the second film, with which i started first until that moment, first movie was very dark and brutal and less funny. I even got mixed feelings about it, and felt like it was too boring for me. But the second movie was a blast to see again, but not on TV but on my computer and without ads. It was fun experience. These days i think that both movies is cool, but back when i first time saw first movie, a long after i saw second movie, i thought that first movie was boring.
Great video!! I would definitely like to see this style of video game review again with a different movie
That intro!!! Excellent. Immediately clicked. Terminator 1-3d is lyfeeeee. Thank you Oliver!
Great video as always, your content is always excellent and hope the best for you in the future too.
Goddamn Oliver. I wasn't expecting that Cannon films tribute logo. That was fresh.
I remembered playing the Salvation arcade game at the local bowling alley.
Ahh Terminator on C64... as a kid I had no idea what I was doing. 😂 But it either way I thought it looked super cool
love these videos, great research.
17:49 That review was done by Gary Whitta, who now writes films, including: - Star Wars: Rogue One (co-developed) - The Book of Eli - After Earth (co-wrote)
That opening was awesome.
LOVE the cannon style opener, I have a cannon hoodie and t shirt, love that logo
Whoa, whoa, where in the blazes did that Sunsoft Terminator footage come from?! 😵 I thought there wasn't anything left besides that promo poster at 3:24 ! This is crazy.
The Canon style intro. Gotta love it
wow dude, just came across your channel and damn! love this! subbed and liked.
6:20 Upper left hand corner that image. It reminds me of a clip I just watched that showed an image that looked just like that. The clip showed a clip from Terminator Resistance for PS5
Gary Whitta shown as 17:57 is the same one who wrote The Book of Eli (2010), co-wrote After Earth (2013) with M. Night Shyamalan, and co-developed the story for Rogue One (2016)
I really love when you talk about videogames. Respect from Albania
Awesome intro!
I think the Bethesda games deserve more attention. They presented many very interesting innovations things back then. As with many Bethesda games the biggest flaw were lots of bugs. They tried to do stuff that just was too much for the available technology when the games were released. Still pretty impressive and ahead of its time. Also I'm sure those Terminator games were an essential step for developing the technology and concepts for The Elder Scrolls. So they might not be widely remembered nowadays, but they have an important place in gaming history. Greetings from Germany :)
Great retrospective on The Terminator, a few years ago they came out with Terminator: Resistance for Ps4/Xbox One. It should be checked out for Terminator fans.
I just realized that the "CSM-101" reflected in the Terminator's sunglasses stands for "Cyberdyne Systems Model 101"
I love the new logo and the canon films tribute
I adore this franchise ever since seeing t2 actually first but these days i prefer the synth soaked 1st game its just gritty, stylish and one amazing thrill ride
Another great video 👌🏻
The thing about the Terminator game on PC was it was an open world 3D game long before Grand Theft Auto. The streets of L.A., you could go into stores, banks, army bases, drive cars, etc. Everyone was dropped randomly into the level. You played as the Terminator or Reese. Did it work?. Yes, but not well. Still, it was trying to be GTA before GTA. Back when Bethesda really tried to innovate. I appreciate failures more than companies who don't try at all. At least they tried.
the gensis one has my fave soundtrack for a gen game and is such a fun quick game
Great Work!!
I remember trying a game boy game called Terminator 2 in the 90s. Nothing seemed to happen at all. You get a sniper's view of a future landscape but I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do.
Well done Oliver!
Nice logo in opening. haha love it.
I had the Terminator on SNES PAL, bought it in a german video store :-) Thanks for this great Video!
I've used Tommy Tallarico's Terminator music in my videos before, and one time he told me in a comment that it "took him back." 1:02 / 26:12 Michael Connell Biehn glancing over the name "Michael B. Connor." 10:56 Hey! Those battle duds aren't Tech-Com issue! 17:04 Those are more likely supposed to be the model 102 based on Franco Columbu, one of Arnie's bodybuilder buddies from back in the day. Or rather, they should be, to make it more authentic to the movie. You can play as the Franco/model 102 Terminator in 'Terminator: Resistance'. 18:58 Why can't Kyle climb ledges like Conrad Hart from the original Flashback? 20:39 It just occurred to me that that's also reminiscent of the ending to Another World/Out of This World.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day Arcade sadly missing from this video
