The Ten Commandments: The Holiness of God and Our Neighbor

Dr. Brant Pitre discusses the Ten Commandments. How do the tablets of love of God and neighbor reveal to us the holiness of God and our neighbor? Formed positively, we see that they show us that God, time and human life is sacred. This was taken from the Mass Readings Explained. Subscribers can find the full video here:

    Thank you so much Dr Brant. I have not heard the reason to attend Sunday mass like this before. One fascinating thing about your videos many times is that at first when when I see the title I will be like I know this one but when I decide to listen to them anyway, boom! they are packed with amazing lessons that I have never thought of. May God bless you

    Beautifully explained, thank you Dr. Pitre. Everything's that God's created are Holy and we must respect it becoz our Creator is Holy. I have so much respect to the Holy Eucharist, bc it's Jesus and I believed His words.... God bless🙏

    Thank you Dr Pitre. I attend Mass every Sunday because of the Commandment. Also we literally receive Christ there in the Eucharist. How can one not be excited about that? The increasing numbers of Catholics who are Catholic in name only and do not feed their faith is disappointing. Jesus wept. Keep praying for them to return.

    Example : Where I live the catholic communities offer confession less than once per month or not regularly at all. Reading the CEC of Trent or Aquinas and then seeing that makes me think they don't really believe in that stuff. Is there any point in joining?

    If possible, sometimes you might have to go a bit further to get what you are looking for (that is if your circumstances permit) such as if you are able to drive. I don't know where you live but in America and Europe there are churches that offer the traditional Latin Mass (TLM) and in there, especially in Oratory's, confessions are always available before every Holy Mass. But it's not only in TLM, even in norvus Ordo you can find parishes that offer confession 6 days in a week although they are not many. All the best

    I can imagine it's challenging to come up with a fresh take on the Ten Commandments which doesn't amount to the traditional perspective that they are a very basic framework for discovering and understanding what behavior is most concordant with untainted human nature.

    Where's the commandment about graven images. Isn't the sabbath commandment the 4th?

  • @michaeljohnson1076

    @michaeljohnson1076

    Protestants and Catholics tend to look at the 10 commandments slightly differently. With Catholics the graven images coincides with the 1st commandment. Coveting your neighbors's wife is also separated to show that another human being is not property since its placed with coveting someone's goods and assets. Protestants separate gods and idols as their 1st and 2nd then at the end coveting is combined as a whole as do not covet.

    🤔 The 10 commandments written on stone with God’s finger included ritual purity, not the 10 dialogues of Moses. Idolatry is not about god’s holiness, it’s about Israel’s worship of other gods. Holy is what God sets aside, not the church
