I'm much more concerned if his parents pass away. Hopefully whoever looks after him next knows what to do and not fuck it up. Bless this boy though for being alive for so long and wonderful parents!

Backup battery. That device I would say 4-8 hours of battery life. If it went beyond that I am sure he would be arranged to be driven or flown to a hospital with power. And as a last resort probably generators - though if it were to come to that...I am sure they'd rather not think about it. I suppose they could hand vent him for a bit or literally keep him awake with medication for as long as possible. But of course that will have its limits too.

But like the rest of the population how we percieve ourselves and our disability is unique only to us. I would avoid expressing that youd rather die if you had someone else's disability because it is insulting no matter if you personally are disabled or not you can still dehumanise other people.

Imagine how he or his parents would feel reading what you have said? From what we can see and I know we never know the full story but Liam looks to have a good life and no doubt he suffers but does he seem like he'd rather not live? Think before you speak. Have a nice day I do genuinely hope you can find something good in every day no matter how small. That helps me stay alive when I want to die but I would be so so hurt if someone said they'd rather die than live my life. That says my life not worth living. That is a really terrible thing to say.

Its more like healthcare for the desperate or the most needing ones. Because those are paid by taxpayers, you don't want your healthcare money go away to someone who is a repeated offender or iresponsible person. tbh im not one with the big brains or data. In my place power usually go away for weeks, it was one time it went away for 3 weeks, on normal day it usually go away 5-6 hrs in a day, they turn off the power every 3-4 hours, he won't survived a day here, cuz I never saw in my life when electricity didn't go in a whole day not a single day

They said no one knows how long he will live. A real miracle would be something that can't be explained. This is just a condition so rare that the doctors can't give an answer as to how long someone will survive. Survival rates are just based on data, more data means better answers.

I hope he's still alive and good. Sending all the love and strength to his family and him. Wishing for the best for them and nothing less. Soo proud of all three of them for being soo strong and amazing. Truly an inspiring boy ❤️

Most parents, anyway. Unfortunately there’s plenty of people who need to be sterilized. I can’t imagine the worst parents (who abuse healthy children) dealing with something like this.

I wish he gets better and better

This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. I have an autistic 12 year old, and I've already mentally prepared myself to take care of him for the rest of his life. He's going into his teens soon and I don't know what to expect, I'm so terrified and sad for him that life has to be different. With Liam you add a few more years and Ondine's disease? I cannot imagine. I have to go cry about this and everything, excuse me.

My son was very difficult in his younger years, destroying things, eating raw meat out of the fridge at night, pooping in his pants, I worried that would always be how he was. But he changed a lot in the past 4-5 years. He's calmed down, isn't destructive, finally potty trained, but over all much more manageable and personable. He still won't hold a conversation, but he does talk and a lot and well, it's just usually scripting his favorite KZreadrs.

I have autistic members in my family. The severeness ranges from person to person but they all mantain jobs and families of their own. Don't discourage and/or look down on your kid. He'll do great, no matter the struggles. Also, people with autism are extremely intelligent but rarely get the oppertunity to really showcase it. So let your kid explore his space around him and give him the tools so that he may figure out his strengths and weaknesses. A doctor once told me. "Neurotypical see a lot of trees together and think 'oh, that's a forest.' but people with autism look at the ground, they look at the flowers and mushrooms and from that base that it is indeed a forest." "people with autism are in no way less intelligent. they just view the world in a different light, and so, express themselves differently. Just because he is 'different' doesn't at all diminish his quality or life or make him less likely to succeed with his life. take care!

He’s very handsome and strong to get through this, as well as his loving family supporting him so much. This makes me joyous to know there’s still hope in the darkest of times when stuff like this happen to people. Prayers for him and to his family!

Josh T maybe they noticed he wasnt breathing when falling asleep because you dont imieditly die because of not breathing it takr a while from you to die from that (*at least I think I of course am stating what I think would be the case*) so maybe this continued on like maybe they kept an eye on him so then thry relized within time of him not breathing during sleep he would die? I dont truely have an answer of course please understand im saying what I think happened for them to figure out this man's condition. May he live a happy life
