once you start cheer, or even do a tumble class, or fill in for someone on a cheer, it becomes addicting. You just want more and more. It's hard to quit.

Carly: wakes up at 6am, goes to school, goes to cheerleading practice, comes home at 11pm from practice, probably goes to bed. *thats carly's life* Me: wakes up at 8am, goes to school late, comes home at 3pm, eats four tortillas, goes to bed to watch shane dawson, and take naps, wakes up at 9pm, eats more, goes to the nearest market to get some candy, comes home, eats candy while laying in bed, and watching these kind of videos, goes to sleep at 3 or 4am. *thats my life*

sophie h. Not fair. As a mom, I asked my daughter starting at age 4 what she would like to try--ice skating, gymnastics, violin, tumbling or skiing. If she didn’t like something, the only rule I had was to finish the course (whatever that was). That way she learned it was not ok to quit in the middle of something. Finishing an assignment is an important lesson, but forcing a child to rejoin or to keep going after that is WRONG.

+nylotus not that I'm saying cheer isn't a sport, but there's no reason to bash track or any running sport for that matter. It's so much more than running in a circle. It's 6 day a week, 2-3 hour grueling practices. We calculate time splits, push ourselves to the limit, and when race time comes, give it everything. Please don't hate on something you know nothing about.

+Sefa Kolubah Usually being a good leader implies setting a good example & in terms of athletics eating healthy is important. So it's contradictory for him to say he wants to be a good leader and then suggest an activity that is unhealthy and therefore a poor influence. But that doesn't mean you can't eat the odd burger and I was just pointing this out as a joke really.

S C sport /spôrt/Submit noun 1. an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment we practice more than you think, everyday of the week, 2+ hours, we condition, we run. no we dont lift weights but we lift oit athletes and hold them in the air about 10-15ft we do this while our arms shake and legs quiver. Dont doubt the flyers either, they have more muscle than you seem to think. the amount of leg muscle, balance and core tightness is unbelievable to people who have never done it. cheerleading is in the top 5 most dangerous sport and you still think its not a sport?!?!? our SPORT is incredible. the amount of things we do in the routine and how much we push ourselves to be the best and keep in mind through all of this we are facing injuries, mental blocks, and set backs. if even one little thing goes wrong in a stunt or even any part of our routine it can hold an athlete out of competion for the rest of the season.

Yes true. I was a cheerleader on my high school team and a lot of people, including my own father have said that it is not a sport. However, the amount of training that is put in to be ready for two games each week was intense. Two hour practices three times a week and two hour games twice a week. Not much time for homework but it was such an incredible experience to have. Fortunately thanks to my amazing coach that I love to bits fought to change our cheer uniform BECAUSE she thought it was too appealing and believed that girls are not sexual objects. Thanks to my coach she used cheer as a way to build up self-confidence and I'm grateful for it!

People underestimate the strength of cheerleaders, dancers, gymnasts, etc not realizing how hard they train and what they go through as well as how wrong the stereotypes are. U can’t even be sweaty or look like a mess even if u have been working ur butt off. These are the sports that take extreme athleticism.

That feeling you get when your on that blue mat and they call your team's name for first place is one of the most satisfying accomplishments ever, especially considering that your stress levels had peaked just that morning!😂 I was never the "Sideline cheerleader" type, cheering for boys who are litteraly tackling their brain cells out, acting like hot shit cause I was the Varsity cheer captain in High School. I'm a complete dork, the kind of girl who sat in the back of the class and got in trouble for reading too much in my English class. But Competitive Is different. It's something you work your ass off for, day in, day out, and not for people to like me. I did it for that feeling, that satisfaction, that big ass fucking trophy that *I* helped get. I'm too old for cheer now, and there's too much on my plate for college cheer, but I don't think I'll ever forget that feeling.

It does bother me though that only level 5 gets more of the recognition than lower level teams. I am currently on a level 1 and 2 but i am a higher level tumbler. Over these couple of years my mom has spent $20,000 for 5 years. I just hope one day that lower level teams get recognized. Levels 1-4.

My brother does cheer and he got 1st out of 37 teams in summit. We went against very big teams. He is level 5. But I can't believe you got 3 out of 69 teams!! That's a lot of teams

Competitive cheer is rough but they should do a special on COMPETITIVE DANCE. It's a lot more. Many kids who dance competitively are recreational but the amazing studios with amazing kids are so intense. You'll find a lot of kids homeschooled and training through out the day and entire weekend. Kids will train 20-40 hours a week including weekends. Competitions and conventions across the state. And instead of how it is with cheer with one routine, dancers might have 10 group routines, 2 duet/trios, and 4 solos in one season. That's a lot of routines. These kids then get sponsors and advertise for companies. They have 1/2 a million Instagram followers and many are 10 years old. The difference with dance is you can go professional and take professional jobs as children. These kids fly back and forth for features on TV shows and photoshoots for dance wear. Check out Sophia Lucia (13), Tate McRae (12), and Brynn Rumfallo (11) - they are just 3 young kids.

The same thing can apply to cheer as well. Considering multiple families have been split in two for many of these cheerleaders, it's unfair to say one is more tough than the other. I will agree that you can make more of a career out if dance but each sport has their own struggles. Their are tv shows showing the the struggles of dance, a 17 minute special on the struggles of cheer doesn't change that.

+Lexi C Any competitive sport is like that... My sister does competitive dancing and I do horse riding. Both are so intense and competitive.. And the ones who succeed highly usually always have heaps of help from their parents who are pushing them and forking out heaps of money

+Brittany Aubain seriously doubt you learn 5-8 routines every week lmao. I could understand 2-3, 4 would be pushing it.. But 5-8 is over exaggerating. Cheer routines contain dangerous stunts, depending on the level. And a lot of times, routines are changed for different competitions to increase their chances of winning. When I did competitive cheer, we changed a major part of our routine literally 30 minutes before we went on the mat one year and performed it. And that happened on several occasions, changing routines around to the point they looked completely different. Not saying that dance isn't challenging, because it is as well. I did competitive dance from ages 6-11 before I switched to cheer. And I did cheer up until I was 17. They're both challenging in their own ways
