I remember when this happened, I had a friend who lived on the tank route and witnessed the tank driving by his house! I guess if you’re gonna snap then that’s the way you do it… imagine if he was able to shoot the cannon?!!

He probably wasnt able to shoot the cannon, as he was a tank driver and not a turret man. He still might've been able to, but chances are there were no shells in the tank.

He wouldn't have been able to even if he had any HE tank rounds because the M60 wasn't capable of firing its main gun while it was driving or moving. He'd have had to stop, load it manually since the M60 never had an autoloader, sight and aim, and then fire. There's no way He'd have the time or ability to do this. I drove an M60 in AIT following basic training and getting in and out of the driver's seat isn't easy.

@@imaflyinmiget5499correct, that armament would have been stored in a secure ammo holding area and only issued under supervision
You did the best in person coverage of this incident than any other to date and thank you very much for doing that!
The way you have shown past in today on road is amazing with all the fractures and dents here and there it got me chills..😅
I absolutely do not remember this happening! Wow...usually the tanks you see in front of an armory are just a shell. They couldn't drive away no matter who tried. He had to have known that one he got into was a valid, working vehicle and it had diesel in the fuel tank, ready to be driven away. That's crazy! Bless his heart, I feel bad for him. His life just fell apart, and so he decided to go out loud and proud. He will certainly never be forgotten! By the way, I'm envious of your t-shirt...love the Goonies!!❤ Thanks for telling us this story.
As soon as the video started I automatically thought of the Killdozer. I remember when this happened. It was crazy then and still crazy today. Thanks for another awesome video!

The movie was phenomenal!
Saw this on TV when it happened and was surprised that the National Guard had no contingency plan in place to quickly disable any tracked vehicle that needed to be stopped, which isnt that difficult even without actually destroying it. You only need to take out one track with a relatively small explosive charge. But you gotta be prepared for that. And then 9 years later, Killdozer thing happened and yet still nobody was ready to deal with it.

What's strange to me is that this man's attacks seem to be random, whereas Killdozer specifically went after people that he claimed had wronged him.
Lol I remember watching this happen live on the news. It was insane

Ha ha me too luv was glued to the TV coverage
Was a member of the 40th infantry division, 2nd brigade, headquarters company from 1985 till 1991. Thanks for showing the building and adding content to the event.
I think the answer to "why couldn't anyone stop the tank" was "it was a tank"
Congratulation Chris for hitting the 400k ...enjoyed the video as always
Excellent job as you always do 👍 Reminded me of OJ chase , noticed you noted it also 😊 you showed cool stuff like pole damage etc.
Great coverage Chris. I remember this day. It was mind blowing. Thankfully no one was hurt or killed.
Love your videos Chris! I thought you edited in the drums and your camera is awesome! Giving us the exact view.

Terrific Chris! A fascinating story with a rather sad end. Thanks for you hard work, your talent and your Art.
I remember watching this. omg. I was in my early 20's. So many veterans (then & now) are going through so much trauma! 💔🙏
Wow this is a trip back in memory lane. I remember this vividly ! Thanks for such a great video showing the original ghetto bird footage. Thumbs Up
Thank you, Chris!❤️
Well done sir! as always.
This was great! I forgot this happened. Thanks for taking us back in time. I can’t imagine a tank rambling through the neighborhood. And I don’t think staying in the house would save anyone. That tank could have decided to smash your house!
My husband, me, and two young sons lived in the military housing just blocks away from this event. The power was knocked out on our street. Luckily, he wasn't down the street we lived on. We saw everything happening in real time as it went down. Pretty crazy!
I’ve seen two or three videos about this strange GTA nightmare (in broad daylight lol)! Yeah, many ppl snap from the sometimes extreme pressures of life, but this was the first time I’ve ever seen someone go to this extreme - and yes, the “killdozer” incident does come to mind….very good video buddy 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼
You did a great job covering this. Thank you. I love your channel. You tell and show historical events very well.
Well delivered! I remember when this happened. Absolutely crazy.
Tanks for this.
Great rundown of events. Love your videos.
Excellent coverage!!!
So cool how you located these hidden gems and show them off with beautiful videography. Your narrative narration comes across like you're speaking one on one to a friend. Great job. Thanks so much Chris 😅
Thank you. That was fascinating. Great coverage. Actually put us there. Much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video I never heard about it
Oh my goodness be careful walking on the freeway lol 😮
So interesting. Thank you for this video.
Great video my man, I never seen this one before.
I remember this and had heard about it from friends there when I visited about a month later. You are the best, Chris. This is a wonderful video.
Good coverage mate. Well done
Really well put together, the in depth observation was really engaging

He should have mentioned the methamphetamine abuse as a potential contributing factor to this entire incident as well.
I remember watching this on the news 📰. My family and I all stopped what we were doing to watch this. Myself and my cousins were in shock 😮
Wow dude you pretty much got it exactly right.. $6,000 in 1995 = $11,895.67 in 2023
I remember this, love it, best video of tank yet
nice tank cam ❤🤣
I had literally just moved to San Diego the weekend before this happened and the armory was only about a mile from my apartment. What a surreal day watching that unfold on TV.
VERY SAD!! AS A ARMY VETERAN ,,...YOU DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEN'S WHEN THEY WERE SERVING FOR THIS COUNTRY OF FREE OF USA .. PEOPLE NEED TO BE A LITTLE MORE CARING SUPPORTIVE IF THEY JUST GOT OUT OF MILITARY SERVICES OR YEARS LATER .. GIVING RESPECT ALWAYS HELPS ,, IN HIS CASE LOSING HIS MOTHER I AM SURE WAS VREY HARD JUST LIKE LOSING MANY BUDDIES THAT YOU WERE IN THE MILITARY WITH... WITH HIM JUST SNAPPING LIKE HE DID ,,HE WAS LOST NOT MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIM,,.. RIP, G D BLESS THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES SIR!!
That's Heavy brother 😎 👍

My lord what a story 😮 I was not aware of this happening! Chris great video Thank-you!! I learned something I was not aware of ✌️ And merry Christmas to you 🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄
That's an absolute great video you did. It's sad what happened to the guy. He really could of worked through his issues though even with all that happened to him. I mean even with no tools good lord plumbers are in insane demand. Maybe not as much as in 1995, but I just can't get how even with losing his tools that he couldn't find work.

I remember that! Times flies by so fast... Craziness..😮
I remember this, I was in elementary school. I lived in Lompoc, California, at the time.
I don't remember this one, however, i do remember the "killdozer" in 2004.
Woooo dude someone's rocking out on the drums
This is a fantastic episode for you. I used to live in San Diego, near here. Crazy this all happened on roads I drove on daily. How much fuel did that tank have??
Haha that blag turret you put on your car made me laugh 😃👍🇬🇧
wow! I had forgot about this! I remember it happening and was all over the news, proof I must be getting old! lol thanks for posting!
I can just imagine one of the cops shouting at him like GTA " Eat My A$$" 😂

Goonies Never Say Die !!! 👊😎👍
I was only 14 when this happened and I vaguely remember this. I had forgotten all about it until this video. Between the tank and OJ, the 90s were wild.
Another story like this 1 "The KILLDOZER Rampage of 2004 "
Excellent Video! 🌾🌲🇮🇳🌲🌾
Drum sessions woooop woooop going out GTA style I wonder if that hospital really "tried" to keep him alive lol
Great story.
Forrest Haggarty did a FANTASTIC video of this too for those that want a unique perspective!
This is just an example of how crazy life really is lol 😅
Was in the Navy in San Diego when this happened. Watched it on the TV in our barracks.

Nut job
😂 Jesus! Hilarious yet insane
I remember this right out of high school. Man still crazy in todays “standards”.
The way it hit the pole and dragged it was exactly like the animation in GTA San Andreas.
I SAW IT LIVE
I had just moved to Anaheim California. That day I was supposed to go visit a friend in San Diego. she called me later that day, telling me to cancel our plans because somebody had just drove by her apartment in a tank taking out cars. It was all over the news.
You’d think they’d take better care of the landscaping around the national guard base
I remember watching this when it happened. Nobody talks about tank guy, just Killdozer (which I also watched live, lol). The hospital probably saw who it was and decided before he was even in the ER that he wasn't gonna make it
Our wonder congress made it nearly impossible to sue for malpractice and these doctors and hospitals know it. So sad to see a person's life destroyed and not get the help they needed and end up in tragedy.
Damn good thing it high centered! Seems he was trying to kamikaze it and drive into the incoming traffic! He might have taken other people out if he have managed it.
