The Taking of the Smalah of Abd el-Kader : story and analysis

This video was broadcast at Mucem in Marseille, as part of the “Abd el-Kader” exhibition, in 2022.
Between November 2023 and March 2024, the Palace of Versailles is devoting an exhibition to the painter Horace Vernet, author of “The Taking of the Smalah of Abd el-Kader”. As part of this exhibition, the Palace offers to rediscover this video, retracing the composition and history of this monumental work.
