This is a solid wood table made with sliding dovetails. Solid wood undergoes various changes due to the moisture present in the air. To prevent wooden tabletops from warping, craftsmen of the past came up with various ingenious solutions. The sliding dovetail is one such solution. We are grateful for the wisdom of the past.

Thank you! This table is made of cherry wood.
Why not do the dovetail before gluing the table top together? Then you won't need to make a cap to hide the exposed dovetail.

How interesting! It seems like it can be done by reversing the angle of the dovetail joint from the center and then gluing it together.
