The Swedish Number | +46 771 793 336

250 years ago, in 1766, Sweden became the first country in the world to introduce a constitutional law to abolish censorship. To honour this anniversary, Sweden is now the first country in the world to introduce its own phone number. Call +46 771 793 336 and get connected to a random Swede, anywhere in Sweden and talk about anything you want.

Abolish censorship? We are not even allowed to say we think because it can offend someone

+Max Petersson what the fuck are you on about mate? The abolishment of censorship is of course meaning the laws we have against it, it's not considering that you 1) are a really insecure person that don't dare say what you like or 2) you have fucked up friends and they are a reason for #1 and you need to change them. I don't relate at all to your bullshit statement, and never has.

+Purple Haze Are you fucking kidding me? Saying that let's say, Islam is a threat to our country is considered "hets mot folkgrupp" (just this week a guy were going to court for this very example). Yet that is something you can do in other countries, such as the USA. That is per definition censorship. So whether or not you "relate" to it or not, it's still true, we DO lack a freedom of speech, we are censored by law.

you can spin this all you want but Sweden will be a muslim country soon and all your feel good gay rights etc will be washed away - Sweden and Belgium will be lessons on how not to do it - having far left ethnomasochistic governments that hate their own people in charge. I hope of course that non of you swedes leave the country when shit hits the fan - I hope immigration boards in then safe countries will reject swedes since they would destroy their next country too.

Beside all the stupidity in the comments (this is KZread, after all), here is my experience: I signed up as one of the Swedes that you can call. I've only had the app active during a few spare hours every day, but still recieved 10 calls. Two of them were people who hung up as soon as I replied. The other eight calls were really nice discussions with people from all over the world (UK, USA, The Netherlands and Cameroon just to mention a few). Not a single question about immigration, but lots of interest from potential tourists - a topic I have lots of answer for since I happen to live in the beautiful northern part of Sweden. All in all, a great campaign, and a very successful one. Of course there will be prank calls - but in my experience it has all been about friendly discussions about everything from local tourist attractions to differences between Sweden and [country X]. I really like the campaign, and I have really enjoyed talking to people who I would never had got a chance to speak with if it wasn't for this crazy idea. So... Thanks STF for a whole bunch of smiles and laughter!

Called the number when it was 9:15 pm my time and 3:15 am in Sweden. Got a few voicemails the first few times I called. Finally, I ended up getting an answer. A bunch of drunk guys saying how it's a Swedish tradition to put chopsticks up your ass at night before you go to bed. Then asking to marry me and they'd give me a fake I.D. so I can go over there. Truly an educational and touching conversation. Next time for a more serious convo, I won't call at 3am on Sunday morning. It was a fun experience nonetheless. 10/5 stars would call again

Pretty sure they're talking about the feminism (equalise if you like) in Swedish history and how Sweden is one of the most gender equal countries in the world. Everything that has to do with feminism doesn't have to be bent to be hate towards men.

+texiflex Sweden is the rape capital of the world - bar South Africa and Lesotho - according to the UN in 2013, with the rate increasing rapidly. They are hardly in a position to lecture anyone about woman's rights.
