The Suzuki Inazuma 250 is a superb commuter

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I recently aqcuired a Suzuki Inazuma 250 / GW 250 and in this video I talk a little bit about why it is a superb, low cost commuter machine. This isn't a review, and I don't give any tech specs. Just my humble opinion on the bike since I've owned it.

I bought an Inazuma 250 five years ago after I retired to get back into motorcycling after after a 30 year break. Only ever had small bikes so this was perfect. Enough power to be safe on dual carriageways, not too much power to threaten you. Smooth as a sewing machine at all revs, just a tiny bit of mirror vibe sometimes. Agree with your comments. Only drawback is no ABS, but debatable if that matters. Looks a bit weird but that’s character! Just don’t leave parking lights on after locking steering - eventually flattens battery.

It engine brakes quite quickly, so in some ways that makes up for the lack of ABS.

Nice vid Tom. A Yankee here. I am a senior been riding on 45 years and I have one I bought a few years ago as new old stock from a Suzuki Dealer. Got it for $3000 all fees included so I couldn't resist. Thought if I hate it, it can go to my son as a learner bike. Oh no it won't, I love this bike. I have some physical issues from my service years. The bike is light enough to push around the garage and low seat enough to get my feet flat down when stopped. I have found it to be bulletproof if you keep it maintained. Typical Japanese quality. These bike are hugely popular in India, Asia and markets where gas is very expensive. Well, it hit $7 a gallon in California were I live so I often do all my errands on mine. I like the plush suspension. Keeps my bones from rattling and I don't push it hard in corners anyway so I like the trade off. I can keep up fine on A roads here, Freeways, but it is truly made for B roads which is where I love to ride it for pleasure. With passing years, I went down and down in size and cc's. I started with a full dresser. Now I have no where to go except to Vespa from here. I have been tempted by the Royal Enfield new Meteor but we have no close dealer here. Whereas Suzuki is in my small town and most places in the US. I will keep it unless Honda brings the CB350 single retro to the States. But I applaud Suzuki for making this little dream of an updated UJM. I do get tailgated the same as you. But I go the speed limit and don't give a rat's ass what the boxes think. They hate us anyway partly from superbike riders acting like complete A'holes all the time. Keep the bright side up and post an update at six months. In the States it is badged as a GW/250. I've kept mine bone stock except a windscreen which I had to source from Turkey! Cheers from California

That exhaust looks like a vast improvement on the stock item and thanks for the tip about not touching a new exhaust prior to fitting. I must say that's a new one to me! The wacky styling of this bike isn't really me but I do like the 20-30 bhp category. It's pretty much all you can use nowadays, what with all the **ing speed cameras! Interesting vid. Thanks.

Suzuki based the design of this bike on the B-King, which was obviously a much more powerful bike. I think they stopped selling into places like the EU and UK, because they would have been required to put ABS on them. In the end, Suzuki was not prepared to carry the cost of that. Whereas, they continued to sell them into places like Pakistan, Southeast Asian countries, as they didn't have to worry about compulsory ABS. Overall, a solid bike that possessed that unmistakable Suzuki quality and reliability.

The GSR 600. Is the 90 bhp version of this. It has the GSX engine. A very quick 600. That's my next bike. As I'm very impressed with owning this GW 250 inazuma. It only has 22 bhp. But plenty of torque all the way through. I'm 6f1 and feel normal on it. On Other 250s I'd look like a clown on a circus bike.

this bike is actually good for nothing; pretty low, little power, pretty high fuel consumption, 6 gears and way too heavy. If u need a bike for a city buy some scooter lets say honda vision 110 cc - no gears, very light, light on fuel. If u want to go further field buy something bigger 500, 600 or 750, lets say Honda NC 750x DCT or Suzuki Vstrom etc. If u want something fast buy something over a litre cc.

  • @thomascharnock

Yeah...I get what you're saying but I don't really agree. It's a good, solid workhorse of a bike that has its fans and in some countries, there are restrictions on BHP and license types so the Inazuma is great for those types of people.
