It's true. And on a 2nd Gen, the fueling is so accurate, the throttle response is glassy silk, never a pop or snatchiness. I can't believe how good the fueling is for such a big motor. I think they pour a lot of R&D into the Hayabusa, which is reflected in the purchase price, it's more expensive than most of the other bikes. The 3rd Gen seems to be a better street bike than the 2nd Gen, and the 2nd Gen was already really refined.

These hyperbikes are surprisingly capable. You can commute and tour on them, hit the drag strip, or tear up a mountain road or a tradk day. I have the new ZX14R and do track days on it and it does just fine. Its more comfortable for all day riding than my 2022 Speed Twin.

1:30. You can hear how big the engine is, even with the stock mufflers, there's a deep sound that isn't there with smaller bikes with a single muffler. When I first started a 2nd Gen, with all stock mufflers, it was terrifying, you can hear a deep booming resonance at idle, because the mufflers are quiet, but they are very high flow, and you can hear the exhaust pulsing through at idle, with a deep booming sound. You know immediately that the engine is huge, and scary and it sounds amazing. I absolutely love listening to the booming idle. The 3rd Gen appears to have that exact same throaty, scary idle, cloaked beneath the nice quiet mufflers. It's also not a flat plane crank, so the motor sounds like a proper screaming race engine at all RPM's, much more enjoyable and rich sounding than any flat plane crank R1 at speed.

[DeepL translate] I think SUZUKI has struck a balance between marketability and environmental friendliness with the 3rd generation Hayabusa, with its mid-range power and relatively light handling. Not everyone has access to crazy speeds of over 200HP or 300kph. She is more suited to everyday cruising between 0-200kph. The large and elegant body looks like a work of art even when it's just sitting there. Let's hope that SUZUKI doesn't decide to stop producing her easily in the next few years.☺

I had a gen2 Hayabusa. Handle bar lift/spacers made such a huge difference for me in terms of comfort, wrist ache, all the things mentioned in this video. I also had an aftermarket seat which made the seating position about 3/4 inch lower. Larger windscreen and it was a fantastic highway touring bike, I rode it from Calgary to Vancouver through the mountains 1/2 dozen times, and it was excellent.

I had a B-KIng for 7 1/2 years in Portugal. Fantastic bike. Surprisingly good for touring. Went round Spain several times. Such a tractable engine. It would pull top gear with a closed throttle at 1,000 rpm/20 mph. I tested it through a Spanish village once. Overall, though, it was too fast for me. Sold it to a Lagoa bus driver.

My hayabusa is 2007 and i absolutely love the thing. It's completely planted on motorways, handles better than it has any right to and the engine is just like a giant turbine. Its such fun to ride and doesn't need any electronics. I ride mine in full power mode all the time as the the other modes get on my nerves. I d like Abs but it stops really well even in the rain. I filter on it through London and that's even with the standard exhausts on it and I prefer the styling of (mine) the gen 2 to the gen 3. Although I love the depth of the paintwork and what they have done with the clocks on the new one i don't like the new back end. Great in depth review thanks really enjoyed it.

Nice review Dan - I have a real soft spot for the Hayabusa and ridden quite a few of them. The gen 3 is more relevant than ever, a sporty feeling bike, lovely ride quality (best so far) and a sumptuous torque delivery, fast or slowish, it's a lovely ride - 1000cc sportsbikes feel unrewarding unless you at least work them a bit and then spend the rest of the day hoping the police didn't see anything !

@@Englishbikerdan well if we choose to accept the unofficial 203 mph claimed by someone who was said to be a bike mag tester on wikipedia then it does keep up. But the Peregrine 'coon kills bbirds. I have a gen 1 1999 version that is unrestricted and has the needle steam gauges. that speedo looks so cool going to 340 kph. The look grows on you, it looks weird to begin with and looks like it is coming at you when facing rearwards with the bird beak and head shape all over the bike and the more you look at it the more versions you see. It is work of art. I am so glad to have got to get the opportunity to buy an original one. Here is NZ we have bikes but certain models are not bought into the country in large numbers. Even crashed the engines are very sought after for race engines for TQ midget car racing or to pop into a suzuki swift car for a super hoonable big go kart.

I have the unmolested 1999 hetero no aids version of the iconic busa. A bit much for an every day rider around here which is 20 km of twisty road to town and can be a lot of fun if there is not much traffic and no cops. but i have the busas lil sister a GSX750F model and an FZ1, all great in their own way. The 750 seems to be better on tyres than the other 2 but I have suspicions as to why that might be. the busa comes out when specially trusted biker friends visit and when i get the urge to spend some tyres and fuel. It really looks great just standing there so is never considered in the way or a waste of shed space.

@@BibtheBoulder May I ask, how you afforded the insurance? Did you get a loan or buy the Hayabusa outright? I tried to get a 2020 Hayabusa here in the US, I wanted to get one of the last 2nd Gen made, they had a beautiful maroon color with maroon wheels and it was such a stunning color, I had my heart set on getting it. I don't know exactly what color, but it was a type of red maroon gloss that just fit the curves so well (lookup 2nd Gen 2020 US Hayabusa). Anyway the insurance here in the US was $495 USD a month and that is actually more than the payment for the motorcycle loan, so you're effectively buying 2 or 3 bikes after you factor in insurance. I had to settle for used 2nd Gen.

When you switch any part of the exhaust it will make the engine run like crap, and will have rough spots and rough patches in the fueling, and will really just not run good, although you might not realize it. It could be running lean. You'll have to either put the stock exhaust back on, and don't touch the exhaust (I absolutely would not touch the stock exhaust, it takes them YEARS to get the fueling right and you mess it up as soon as you touch the mufflers). But you can pay, if you have the money, just bring it to a qualified DYNO engine tuner that works on bikes, and have them re-tune the ECU on a DYNO, you'll have to pay probably $300, but it will transform the bike, and you'll probably pickup 7 horsepower. I'm assuming you already had this done, judging by your comment but just wanted to mention this. I know you probably know all this! ha.

I can't ride any of these bikes as they are meant to be ridden. People will report me to the police and an investigation would then take place (I am not joking, this has already happened several times). That is the sad truth of this game and I won't risk my license for views. Off camera, I like to ride these bikes as intended.
