Do you think you can make few classes about Shinsengumi only? You have a great knowledge and I just feel so stopped in the middle when I listen to you and I think you will say something more and you go to next point as you must say only the most important things to fit in the time frame. So I just hope you can make a series about Shinsengumi and tell everything you know. I really admire you. I'm sorry for always talking about Shinsengumi but I really love them a lot and I just feel that I can trust only you when it comes to videos about them here... I'm sorry.

Fan fact! Shinseigumi members didn't like the uniform so it's worn only for a year or so. Also they were called Mibu wolves for not honourable reason as I recall. It's also because they were brutal and were from small villages. But I really LOVE your lectures! I was into Shinseigumi when I was in junior high, influenced by 燃えよ剣, 壬生義士伝, 新選組血風録 and some other books. Your videos evoke the passion! Also I am learning English from your channel. Thank you so much for keep sharing such amazing contents!

Thank you very much for these very informative videos! I could definitly tell you enjoyed making these, your excitement was a joy to watch. 😊 I got interested in the Bakumatsu period through Kenshin and Hakuouki and I keep being surprised about how many historical facts related to the Shinsengumi (even the uglier ones) the later managed to sneak into its narrative, despite being fictional. Your videos definitly helped that realization and they make me enjoy this series and the historical context even more. I'm looking forward to your next videos!

Also I have been wondering & especially after all the history I've learned from your channel & other resources on the shinagumi and the 47 ronin, if they lived during the same time frame; would they join up with each other too help out with their causes; including fighting the battles they lost as individual groups, & too go & turn the losses into wins.

A tragic history. Just like the samurai of Ako who lost their domain, the Shinsengumi were betrayed. I wonder if there was any element of a class struggle in the betrayal of the Shinsengumi. As commoners who aspired to be samurai, the Shinsengumi may have been seen as social upstarts. I believe during the WW2 period the IJN with leaders like Admiral Yamamoto was seen as aristocratic whereas the army was perceived to be for commoners.
