The surprise fight saving F1 2024

Спорт

Max Verstappen finishing 25 seconds ahead of the next non-Red Bull driver in Formula 1's first race of 2024 seemed like a clear indicator of a completely one-sided season.
All the pre-season hopes and dreams of a multi-car fight out front appeared crushed.
But a dominant couple of opening weekends were followed by a far more exciting string of races - two of which Ferrari won, another that McLaren won and one Mercedes almost won.
So is F1 2024 now saved with three different teams on pole in the last four races, how much trouble is Red Bull in and where do its rivals really stand?
00:00 Assessing Red Bull's 'downgrade'
03:30 Is McLaren now a genuine threat?
06:37 A real test of Ferrari's progress

I can't believe how much it has turned around in just ~2 months, F1 is back to being interesting again. Seems like Mclaren are very much the team bringing the threat hardest, but we now at least have 3 teams close enough to the RB there is something resembling F1 happening on track. It was a weekend of compromised setups because of the weather, similar to the sprint weekend in Brazil when they had their last great “false dawn.” Until they have a lights out weekend where there aren’t factors like weather and sprint races to throw things upside down, I can’t say they are making substantial progress.

I think we shouldn't count ourselves rich yet. We had a whole series of street tracks, bumpy tracks and aggressive curbs. The type of track Red Bull never have been at their strongest in this generation of cars, and this year it seems to be a proper weakness. But looking at more aero dependant tracks that don't have those bumps and curbs, Red Bull have been dominant this year. And we're getting a whole range of such tracks with Spain, Spielberg, Silverstone, Hungaroring, Spa up to the summerbreak. Edit: Hungaroring, that maybe is a race for Ferrari or McLaren.
