Bill, I honestly think I’ve watched the entire series at least 10 times! Period of drag racing history that I I miss. A couple of friends could field a top fuel care without a corporate sponsorship or being a millionaire. Today’s cars are all clones of each other with rules so tight, true innovation of the 60s could not happen now. Big thank you Bill!

Thanks for all the priceless content. Sat nights I was hanging over the fence at the York US 30 Dragway in Pennsylvania from 1960 - 1972. Being a tool & die maker the car construction and making metal parts adapted to race cars was inventive for me. I liked the super stock, factory experimental, gassers and altereds but dragsters would turn my head. About anytime California towed in were Super Stock meets. We had gas dragsters but fuel dragsters were rare matchraces of Big Daddy and the Greek. I liked the tech data exposed during your complete series as machining the injector nozzle internal profiles, bell housing/clutch development, blower drive idler removal. There was always interesting information given, thank your crew for the hard work and effort. As stated many times over the sight of two dragsters pushing toward the Starting Line, then turning across into the lanes with the lighting glistening off the spokes is unforgettable.

My first time watching this series. I am enthralled, amazed & sometimes bought to tears. I lived through this era (but in Australia) before relocating to the USA in the mid 90's. This is the stuff that motivated me to live the life I have. Thank you.

Dear Kerry... I can't thank you enough for taking the time to express you appreciation for the series. Losing Tom Jobe was such a hit to us all. But thankfully he was patient enough to allow us to capture his recollections of those wonderful time in drag racing. Thank you again!! Bill

Loved this, thank you all for making this Awesome video series. I was 15 and lived in Santa Monica only a few blocks away from Surfer headquarters at the Apple Motel. I had a Schwinn Stingray with the slick on the back as I love drag racing.. My school buddy and I loved Ford's...aka.. Don Nicholson, Sneaky Pete Robinson, & Gas Ronda but the Surfers really caught our interest because they won so much we really liked them. So one day I was riding my metallic blue slick shod Schwinn Stingray bike down an alley and saw an open garage door. I stop for just a second outside the open doors and see a dragster in there. But I kept going as I was too shy. A few years back I was watching something on the Internet that had everything to do with the Surfers car including an email address so I wrote a short note to the Surfers and I believe Tom Jobe wrote me back and said hey you should have stopped and come in as you would have been welcome to visit our shop. Oh the missed opportunity! I'm 67 now and have watched 1-47. I kept waiting and waiting for the mention of the hole in the block fixed with silver tape and wrapping the rod journals with a leather belt with a hose clamp. Priceless ! Thanks for the Memories. Ralph L.

Didn't think it was possible but this Doors tie-in makes me love this whole story 100X more ! I brought up the music from The Doors about 20 segments ago when "The End" ( a Doors tune ) was playing ! The Doors.... my favorite group since that late sixties ! Music & dragracing doesn't get much better than that ✌😎

From Wikipedia: After Morrison's death, Courson continued to live in Los Angeles. Former Doors manager Danny Sugerman became friendly with her in Los Angeles during this time and later wrote in Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess about an experience of taking quaaludes and snorting heroin with Courson.[16] On April 25, 1974, Courson died of a heroin overdose on the living room couch at the Los Angeles apartment she shared with two male friends. Like Morrison, she was 27 years old when she died. Her cremated remains were interred in the mausoleum at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California. The plaque reads "Pamela Susan Morrison 1946-1974", even though "Morrison" was never part of Courson's legal name. Several months after her death, her parents inherited her fortune. Jim Morrison's parents later contested the Coursons' executorship of the estate, leading to additional legal battles. In 1979 both parties agreed to divide the earnings from Morrison's estate equally.[17]

I can't site the publication from ailing memory, but I had read an article blaming Mike Sorokin's demise to the rear end in the car locking up and tearing free from the chassis. It recounted him trying to climb out of the cockpit trying to escape the spinning differential at over 100 MPH... But my web searches only cite claims that solely blame a clutch explosion tearing the car in half. Can anyone shed light on this and possibly cite the magazine issue I'm referring to?
