The Surfaris Perform Wipe Out!! at the 20th Rat Fink Reunion

It was 1962 when several 15-year-olds formed a band they called "The Surfries" and recorded their hit single Surfer Joe. They were told they needed a "B" side for the 45rpm record at the recording session. So they took a few hours and jammed out a legendary surf hit, Wipe Out!
Well, it's now 2022 and at the 20th anniversary of the Rat Fink Reunion Bob Berryhill, surviving member of the Surfaris played the huge party that goes on for three days in the Roth home backyard in Manti Utah. The modern Surfaris are Bob Berryhill on lead (who co-wrote Wipe Out), his wife Gene Berryhill on bass, their son Deven on rhythm, and son Joel on drums. ENJOY!!

Wipe out was not just a surfing music icon, it was one of the tunes that every drummer had to learn his part (that rhythm is dominate through out rock music) and every guitar player also had to learn. It is the second or third tune I learned, after Walk Don't Run. At the beginning you showed a bucket T hot rod with clear valve covers. On the breather cap there is a logo, which I instantly recognized, that of Mr. Gasket Co. As I am sitting here i am looking at that logo on a very rare Mr. Gasket Collectable. It is a pocket manicure set (Knife) given to employees as a Christmas gift in 1974, I was at that time the guy (1of 3 ) that actually made the gaskets. So todays video has 2 special places in my heart, thanks for making this day just a tiny bit better. ;)

@@ToyManTelevision If you used gaskets from 1973 to about 1977 you have a good chance of having had them made by little old me. I don't remember the number series for the ford engines any more, (No. 253 seems to ring a bell) but the 300 series were for GM. At one time I made 90K No. 350 exhaust gaskets (small block Chevy) a month (4 at a time). It took almost a week.

So I went to bed after seeing your Rat Fink video. In the morning my wife said we'd lunch with her teacher friends both active and retired like her. Met them near our house and off to a restaurant near there. Arrived at a fantastic retro place we didn't know existed and had a fine lunch. Then next door to a coffee shop we also didn't know and standing at the front door was Rat Fink! A 58 GMC pickup in old patina next to him. VW's in various state of rebuild all over the place. I did my best to explain Rat Fink to our younger Thai friends and posted this video.

Had cool surf wagons. But NO DRIVERS LICENSE! Because they were 15 years old! And here we are in 2022 and only one is still alive, on the road playing car shows and other gigs. His whole life on the road playing gigs! Amazing. I had a 67 mustang GT. Sold it to buy a Dodge Challenger. 440. I was an idiot. So in 1984 I found a replacement 1967 mustang GT. This time a GT500!! Which I rodded. Thing has about 500 HP. And gets 8 miles per gallon at $5.00 per gallon…. Oh well. I only put about three tank fulls through it every year so no big deal.
