In today's episode, Becket interviews Dr. Michael Heiser on his latest book, "Demons." Dr. Heiser addresses common misconceptions Christians have about the powers of darkness. Is Satan a demon? Where do demons come from? Hint: It's not what you think. What are the three rebellions that got us to this chaotic place? What did Jesus mean when he said, "Upon this rock I will build my church." Why did Jesus cast out demons? These and many more questions like it will be answered.

ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

How just because there were giants in those days does the sons of God have to be bad angels?..and not just rebellious men. There were giants in the promised land when Moses led the people out of Egypt hears later years after the flood. Giants do not have to be half fallen angel and half human.

  • @jerrynkathy

@@shelleythomas1046 Do you have a better explanation for how ordinary men and women produced giant offspring considering men in ancient times were not tall at all by our standards? Based on skeletal remains, men in Moses's time were about 5'7" or so. The same is true of Roman soldiers. They can hardly be confused for giants. Almost every Native American tribe has a story of how they fought giants. Human beings don't produce children with double rows of teeth yet skeletons of giants have been found just that way. Check out L.A. Marzulli who has devoted decades researching the Nephilim. The man is a documentary film maker, author, and and researcher without peer, in my opinion. His KZread channel has themed programs, one of which is called "On the Trail of the Nephilim." Perhaps you'll come away with a new understanding of how giants came to be.

    1. Is there only one god, or are there multiple gods? If multiple, how is a person to choose which deserves obedience? 2. Would you agree that before anything can exist, something has to create it? Did your god create everything? If yes, who/what created your god? 3. Is your god infallible? 4. Is your god omnipotent? 5. Is your god omniscient? 6. Is your god benevolent, or malicious? 7. If your god cannot make mistakes, then it follows that everything it creates is either perfect, or that your god intentionally makes things that are flawed. Would a benevolent god intentionally create something likely to suffer because of its flaws? 8. If your god can do anything, and it created the universe, why didn't it simply create a perfect world inhabited by perfect beings? If your god wanted obedience, and god is not malicious, why did god make disobedience possible? 9. If your god knows everything, does it already understand every thought and feeling you have? Does it instantaneously know everything you say and do? If yes, what is the point of religious rituals, such as prayer? 10. Why would an omnipotent and omniscient god not communicate directly and unambiguously with individuals, with no need of books, churches, prophets, signs, miracles, etc? If a person is not intelligent enough, or not "worthy" enough to speak directly with god, whose fault is that? Who made the person in the first place? If a person is unworthy or incapable of directly communicating with god, how can that person be capable of recognizing a valid spokesperson for god? 11. Think about the person/people who convinced/persuaded/ordered you to believe in a version of god. Are they infallible? Is it at all possible for them to tell you something they sincerely believe, but for that thing they tell you to be actually incorrect? 12. Are feelings reliable tools to guide actions? Suppose I hear a person in my neighborhood talking a lot about the presence of violent break in robberies nearby, and I get apprehensive. I am convinced by the passion my neighbor puts into this story, even though I've seen no tangible evidence. That night, I hear a noise. I FEEL certain that it is a robber breaking in to harm my family. I get out of bed, pull a pistol from the bedside table. Without opening the bedroom door, I shoot through it to get the robber. When I open the door, there is my son, lying dead on the floor from my bullet. I was sure. I relied on my feelings. My fear of a robber. My hope of being a defender father. Feelings, not facts. Was that a good way to live my life? 14. Do you deny that religion (superstition, irrational behavior) is the root cause of most human conflict in history, that for centuries millions have been tortured and murdered "because god told me to do it"? 13. Suppose a person has a book full of maps to guide a group journey. They rely upon it, but the group is perpetually lost. You question the map book, but your friend insists that the map book is flawlessly accurate. "How do you know?" you ask. They reply, "I know that this book is accurate and perfect, because it says so in the book." Your friend insists that the map book is information from god.....but some other people wrote the book, based on their interpretations...why? Why didn't god write the book personally? How could information possibly become more accurate and truthful when filtered thorough con men?.....but that is okay, because of how passionately they shout about their version of the book, and how strongly it makes your friend feel. When you show them hundreds of self contradictions in the book, they get upset and say that you are just not reading the book correctly. Which person is messed up? You, or the book fanatic? How do you justify cherry picking which parts of the bible to follow? Leviticus? 14. If the point is to die and go to heaven, why not simply commit mass suicide and get it over with? Christ was quite literally a kamikaze; is that what you preach should be emulated in daily life? 15. Why is it necessary to use superstition and irrationality to justify your practical principles? Why treat humans like a donkey in need of the stick of hell and the carrot of heaven? If you want positive secular behavior, why not justify that behavior in practical terms? Why do you need to use HATE and FEAR to get people to OBEY your literally INSANE beliefs? Wake up. Reality is OBJECTIVE, not subjective.

@noneyabusiness2237 Lol. You are obviously a genus who is smarter than every great and pedestrian Christian thinker. I am not so bright sadly but have to take issue with your last point:,REALITY IS OBJECTIVE. Are you serious? How is it objective? The very space in front of you that you could swear is empty. Look again with a telescope. You really do not know that your five senses through which you perceive 'reality' is terribly limited and relays only a fraction of 'reality'. Your dog would tell you if it could speak that there are more smells than you can pick up, same with sounds and you're so touchingly certain that it's only what you can see and hear that actually exists and things that make sense to you that are rational.Lol. You can't even understand why that there MUST have been an uncreated first being in the first instance, yet you presume to confine the entire universe to your limited reasoning capabilities. Incredible😅

Our believing and receiving him as Saviour enables us to be saved from the penalty of our sins, which is death and separation from God for eternity but the forgiveness part doesnt have to repeated over and over again. I don't understand what could be objectionable about the information he brings forward. Such great encouragement about Almighty God's great plan to restore the gentile nations (I am apart of that) to Himself, the mighty work of Christ Jesus dying to atone for us and rising and all that entails, the connections in the old and new testament to bring fulfillment, and of course the work of the Holy Spirit and His coming to be with us. I would suggest reading or listening to more of his discussions. He is extremely knowledgeable in ancient languages and writings. There is nothing heretical in anything he says. Perhaps for some it might not be their focus in their spiritual journey (cup of tea, or interest) but for me I find this perspective on the work of God wonderful. Glory to His Name.

I read Unseen Realm three years ago and it radically adapted the way I viewed the Word and the world, I'd fully recommend it to people. I've watched a lot of his videos too, I watched one on the Trinity in the Old Testament - it was awesome. One thing I've heard him say in other talks but probably didn't get time to in this one, was that even though the Watchers have been disempowered, they haven't gone anywhere - they're still on Earth, influencing world leaders because they work smart not hard. He said they'll occasionally show up, target those with the most influence (Governments, Entertainment industry, education the lot) and 'direct' (more like misdirect) the nations. I'm not of the mindset of Kingdom Now Theology that puts the Church in charge of the state of the earth, and that it presents a conquered earth to Yahshua - I'm of the mindset of we are in the world but not of it, we who are called by Yahweh's Name, need to remain in the fear of Yahweh, the love of Yahshua and extend that to one another in humility (Philippians 2). Some of us will be martyred, all will face persecution, but through patience and endurance, through the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony we will overcome the world and NOT succumb. It's Christ's job to subdue the nations and judge them, like Mike Heiser was saying regarding the Messianic prophecies that Yahshua deliberately half quoted. The Church needs to realign with the reality of the Bible writers to have a sober judgement of what our remit actually is, to not get deluded with thinking we can escape tribulation, that we're grafted into the Olive Tree (Israel, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob etc and their wives and faithful descendants [Romans 11]) and that it will glorify the Son as He glorifies His Father, Halleluyah! Let's get ready and know the warfare we're in (Eph 6)

About a week ago I listened to Beckett's video about his mother's prayer journal. I haven't stopped thinking about it since then. I've heard a lot of testimonies over the 40 years, since being born again, but this one is special to me. It illustrates the power of a mother's prayer and the impact of writing out specific prayer bullet points. Praise God.

He is a hugely gifted scholar, and we are blessed to have access to his years and years of research. His knowledge of ancient culture, Greek and Hebrew, and all of the writings surrounding the inspiration and compilation of the Holy Scriptures brings such a broad and yet direct approach to the fall, and the perfect redemption . @cslewis1404 nice user name! I feel that some of this knowledge was kept alive, here and there. C.S. Lewis would have been exposed to the supernatural interpretation, if not from his church, from his own reading. I speculate that the highly educated clergy of the Church of England would have understood some of this, even if they never preached sermons on it specifically. Same for Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox.

I would say it was an interesting and informative show...pointed out some things I'd never noticed...I don't think it has changed or affected the way I look at evil, Satan, demons etc and the power they have. I still believe walking out my Christian life daily in the Word, talking with God, fellowshippig with believers etc is the only way to combat the powers and principalities.

You can find many of Dr. Heiser's teachings & other interviews on KZread in addition to his books & podcast. I also got his books Reversing Hermon and A Companion to the Book of Enoch, the backstory to the Watchers. Listening to his teachings & reading his books have connected the dots for me & brought the Bible & world into sharp focus. I get it now, & I understand who is behind the global chaos, mass deception, & craziness going on in the world. I understand what Paul means when he says our struggle is not against flesh & blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph 6:12. 'The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you' all.

I have just been following Becket for a short time and have loved what I have heard. I clicked on this one because of the topic. I have started to see a bunch of videos on the internet of "Christians" who talk about and even make fun of other preachers and teachers, which started to shake me because I had some bad feelings when listening to 2 of them not really talking about the Lord, but something else. I started to wonder in the beginning of Dr. Heiser's talk because there were things I didn't recognize and was startled. Now before this, when there would be a good teaching, but the Preacher speaking would take a jab at another Christian religion, I would always leave a comment that this is a time we should come together because there are outside unbelievers coming after us, to get rid of Christians. So, when I decided to listen to more of Dr. Heiser, I realized his teaching was Bible based, just not things I was familiar with. I decided to go back to my belief of us sticking together and stop listening to videos poking fun at other pastors from supposed Christians. Another thing I would leave on places where Christians bashed other Christian religions is "They will know we are Christians by our love." As I continued to hear Dr. Heiser speak, I was fascinated and realized how much work he had put into this and the whole thing was based on the Bible, I knew for sure I wanted to hear this again and again until the words and order the Bible was read became familiar. I found this to be fascinating and can't wait to hear and read more of his work. I am sending prayers for complete healing for Dr. Heiser and anyone here who is suffering. I think it is important to continue to remind other Christians who bash other Christians to remember that they will know we are Christians by our love. We need each other right now. Thank you for inviting this scholar on your chanel. I can't wait to hear what he has to say next.

We are to have discernment and to rebuke others who are teaching lies in Jesus’ name and hurting believers through the teachings. Those “preachers” who say you can be healed if you send them $1k are liars and must be silenced. Those who add to the Bible and claim God said what He didn’t say must be called out. The list goes on. It is a loving thing to protect the vulnerable from conmen behind pulpits.

Thank you for your response. The origins of the Bible only go back so far- The printing Press 1500AD. Did you ever wonder what doctrine was used prior to that? When a person studies deeply they are lead back to a sacred religion that is constantly bashed, reviled by many Christians under constant attack (even from within) etc. I have been a Christian my whole life, when I became a Catholic Christian The persecution increased dramatically mostly from other Christians. There is a concerted effort to silence Catholics. I go to Mass to get the Body and Blood of Jesus as he says to do at least 14 times in the Bible. It is possible to be both saved John 3:16 and Catholic See Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, 1Corinthians 10 and 11 and Acts 2 and 20. I believe what the scripture says about the Holy Eucharist and eternal life.

Praying that we all become more bold & effective, maybe we do not have because we do not ask - with God nothing is impossible so I’m asking Him to help us.

Thank you for doing this show. And greetings from Dallas. Both you and Dr. Heiser are treasures in your own right. I love his idea of hastening His return by being about the Churches mission to spread the gospel. The writer of the television series The Chosen often says it is not our job to feed the 5000 but rather to provide the loaves and fishes. I love that. It is freeing. The pressure is already off, the battle won. Reach out to those you love and show them where Love comes from. I can’t wait for that day when we ALL will See the Unseen Realm.

Rest with Christ, Me Heiser. He had interesting stories and understanding. We lost a great one on earth but he is celebrating with the Lord.

One of my fav channels The Becket Cook show . I am very blessed to see Dr Heiser on here. I pray for a quick recovery for Dr. Heiser . I think if Chuck Missler , Derek Prince and Jack Van Impe were alive they would have fit right in this show .
