American Bandstand. September 19, 1964. The sound is definitely 60's, but I like how they retain the classic moves of the 50's.

I'd only discovered this gem of a record *this year,* and I couldn't get enough of their sweet harmonies, and particularly that angelic soprano of Ms. Green. *Then,* this great clip popped up in my YT feed, and I've never clicked on a vid so quickly: Their record here, but hinted at the class, and grace that the group displayed here on AB; so-o good to see; and Ms. Green is beautiful, and it's clear why she was snatched up by, and married to an NFL star.

The B-Side on the 45 rpm record was “I was born when you kissed me” it was played briefly in early 1965 after Baby Baby All The Time, beautiful song. I think The Whispers recorded it first. These songs were played here in ELA & Boyle Htgs. Great Music & I love this clip. I never wore leather during that time. Not until the 80’s. When I was in my 30’s.

Thank heck for old-time record stores! Walked into my local shop today while the Miss Toni Fisher cover (The Big Hurt) was playing and asked about the singer. The clerk had put The Superbs on because another regular customer had just come in and he figured they'd like it. The charm worked! The store sold two copies of the Kent label Superbs compilation in under five minutes! I see that a couple of Superbs family relations are commenting here and just wanted to note the group made a few new fans here in good ol' 2016. Good music lasts forever.

BRILLIANT and the dancing's well cute, thank you.
Wow , this takes me way back. Good looking group.
This song is absolutely beautiful.... I know I was born in the wrong era.I would of loved to of been a teenager when songs like this were around, I was only 9 when this song was out and only learned about music like this from my late hubby . He loved music like this....
Wow I thought I'd heard every 60s soul/r&b group. A new discovery thanks to KZread!

Check out Soulful Detroit on the web !! Soul Music from Detroit recorded in small time local studios!!!!!
She's a cutie pie. Great song
Great song sung by a great looking vocal group with great lead singers voice and outstanding well coordinated back up singers !
Thank You for posting this. Ronald Cook is my father. He has this clip on VHS. I remember seeing this on American Bandstand when I was about 8 yrs old.

I ran with your Dad Walter back in '61-'62 and recognized him on the close-up video-panning [2:36--38]. Please mention my name [Val] to your Dad. I was wishful-singer and learning (self-taught) piano back then; your Dad was a very cool guy; with a rare "54-convertible Buick!
There's my longtime friend Mr Walter White. It was such a pleasure getting to go out on the road with him back in '06. I loved the stories he would tell about his time in the entertainment business. I can never thank him enough for giving me a spot on his stage. Excellent person

i'm pretty much an expert about oldies and this one i truly forgot till i heard it again......very nice
Beautiful song, but too short and the ending not long enough. Great backing vocals!! Great looking guys! (especially the middle one!) Her voice is PERFECT for this song. I love their performance. The sound and backing vocals is definitely 60's and even 50's sound and style. My kind of music! Great job SUPERBS!!

In this era of music, songs could not extend beyond 3 minutes and most were two and a half minutes in length in order to fit radio formats and television tape times, but longer versions could sometimes be found on an album.

Congratulations to a superb group with Elenore Green. I remember them well in Los Angeles. We did performances for Hunter Hancock at schools like Jordan High, Fremont and usually each week. I remember Bobby Swain as the member of the group. I am and was on the show circuit too for Hunter Handcock. Ricardo King with "At the Harlem Center" "Won'tca Come On Home" and "On A Hot Summer Day In The Big City" on Joker Records my recorded songs & regional hits back then. produced by Hal Davis of Motown Records. Memories of the past....
I love this song.
cannot remember hearing them when young, her daughter sent me, glad she did, love them
There are 8 million stories in the city. This is mine
The Superbs had lots of good records. Their CD is well worth buying. Their records never got the airplay that they deserved.
Fantastic!! I've loved this song for years and it's great to actually see them.
Oh, my gosh, this song brings back so many wonderful memories growing up in the early to mid-1960's. Thanks so much!
Love this song
This is one of my favorite oldies dedicated to joanna walker & my boy justin fernandez.

The song is a very old blues favorite..what a voice thanks for sharing..some great memories ...
What a Great Sound Love It Thanks!!!
This is a wonderful song I was a freshman in college when they preformed this song. Another song that they did, that was also great was Storybook Of Love. I was a member of the Laura Lamar High School class of 1964. Laura Lamar High School was in Homer City, PA.
Now those vines they're wearing are hella sharp...Especially for 1964
This is a profound song, one of a kind
Love this song!!!!
I can watch and listen to this group forever &
Wow. I have often listened to the Superbs and Eleanor Green but never seen a clip of them. She had an amazing voice.
This is Superb
I had this song in my head recently and finally remembered that the version I knew was by Shirley Horne. It was a very slowed down version which was typical for her. A completely different record altogether. This is very sweet.
Written by Bobby Troup! Cool 50's jazz tune, but I still love this version!

If this song was produced by Motown, it would have been off the charts, as well Baby's Gone Away! There was real music in the sixties!
