You found a hidden gem, often overlooked. Thank you for reacting to this ❤
I had a bad day today, so I really needed this. Her voice just soothes a troubled soul.

have a better day tomorrow :)
My sister's favourite band. She loved Harriet. She is gone now. The Sundays always bring her back to me.

It's true how certain songs bring us back to times and people and things we haven't maybe thought about for a while. I'm sure that's not the case with your sister. ✌️♥️
Her breathy, crisp, and delightful vocals are so blissful and soothing.
Guitar so good, and well ,Harriet's voice needs no words. Memories of my late teens early twenties.
This song & Summertime are my favorites by this band. ❤
Love this band … so underrated.
The lyrics are WONDERFUL, but Harriet was deeply cynical. Read the lyrics for "Summertime". She is shitting on the notion of romantic love even though she's happily married with Dave Gavurin, the guitarist. Jangle Pop was more of an 80s thing that struggled a bit in the 90s. The Sundays were a bit like a female fronted version of The Smiths, who were the kings of Jangle Pop. R.E.M. was Americas biggest Jangle Pop band of the era though it all goes back to The Byrds ("Mister Tambourine Man"), The Beatles, and 60s Folk-Rock for influence. Other songs by The Sundays to check out are "Love" (my personal favorite and another hit on the Modern Rock chart), "Wild Horses" an ethereal cover of The Rolling Stones' classic, "Cry", "Goodbye" and "Can't Be Sure". Honestly, you might as well buy their three albums because they are pretty close to perfect. If you want to check out some of their contemporaries, influences, and bands influenced by them, I would recommend "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" by The Smiths, "Everyday Is Like Sunday" by Morrissey, "Obscurity Knocks" by Trashcan Sinatras, "Carolyn's Fingers" by Cocteau Twins, "Native Land" by Everything But the Girl, "Dreams" by The Cranberries, and "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer.

Sixpence None the Richer and The Cranberries are spot on
I'm so glad you discovered this band. One of my favorites! Now that you've heard this one and Summertime, I would suggest "Love" and their cover of "Wild Horses". Those are two of their other songs that got a lot of radio AirPlay back in the day.
The best. One of the best songs to ever exist.
LOVE me some Sundays! Her voice is amazing. Listen to her sing Wild Horses a Rolling Stones cover.

I know right! I discovered wild horses while watching this show and instantly fell in love. Her voice is so beautiful, literally hypnotizing. ❤️
A song you should hear that has a similar vibe is Coming Up Close by Til Tuesday. Both songs make me think of driving through the New England countryside on an overcast autumn day.

Aimee Mann is a goddess!
I cannot tell you how many of this CD that I bought. When this came out I loved this song so much that I bought dozens of this CD to hand out to my friends.
The Sundays were so underrated. I could listen to them all day long. Thank you for this reaction.
THANK YOU for playing it all the way through and showing your reactions!
I almost didn’t listen to this with you cuz it reminds me of when it first came out was when I just started falling in love with my late husband…MAN! I was on such a high in love and this song hits home...and our love lasted 18 beautiful years until his death from cancer. Love this song but it gives me such a sense of longing❤
John Peel was the god of new music. He had a late night show on radio 1. At the end of the year he produced his festive 50 of best songs that year
I heard this song for the first time in a record store. I immediately went and asked what it was. Walked out a few minutes later with the album in hand. I've loved The Sundays and Harriet's voice ever since. I wish they'd done more, but the music they made is perfect.
I saw the Sundays in LA around 1991 at the Roxy or the Whiskey a Go Go, I forget which. They sounded great, didn't have enough songs at the time so they played this song twice. They sound just like this live!
I fell in with her voice and the band when it first came out and I'm a hard rock fan. ✌️
I heard this song a few years ago on an alternative station. Couldn't stop listening to it. She has such a unique, vulnerable voice and what powerful lyrics. This song will stop you wherever you are.
This is my favorite band and I've listened to tens of thousands of songs. My favorite song is wild horses
One of those songs that makes the heart soar. Another song with the atmospheric 'feels' you could try is Polyphony by Soundpool. It has beautiful vocals from Kim Field with big shiny guitars and is ridiculously uplifting.
Thank you.Really.Thank you.
Describe what you’re feeling. Be specific. Not just a vibe timeless. Be more. It makes me feel nostalgic. It’s a story. Ending of a friendship or relationship. How feelings are magnified as a teen or youth. The. The jangle gives a longing or nostalgic feeling without being over sentimental. Darker than summertime but because it’s about an end. And yes an autumn
song makes me feel nostalgic - puts me back iinto the 90s
Love this band so much, you literally can't go wrong with any of their songs. Goodbye and Life Goes On are two that really hit deep, and their cover of The Rolling Stones' Wild Horses is magical. Some other songs that hit the jangle-pop itch are Carnival or Sick And Tired by The Cardigans, Easy To Ignore or Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer, Bright As Yellow or Brave by The Innocence Mission.
I love The Sundays. Can't Be Sure is another great song to check out but do give a listen to Camera Obscura, another band led by a female vocalist and distinctive in their own right.
The Sundays and The Housemartins and The Beautiful South oh my...!
This CD has been in my car ever since it came out!!!
Never heard of this group, but like the song and her voice is great
Since you like the Sundays so much. If you've never heard of The Innocence Mission, might I recommend "Bright As Yellow", "Every Hour Here", "And Hiding Away" or "Surreal". Most people recognize "Bright As Yellow".
I fell so deep in love with my darling, Chris, because I built a playlist for the laboratory I woked at (circa 2019). That was a coincidence. I had threw on the list, and Wild Horses came on. He came in to check in on the analysis results and heard what I was listening to. He gave me a look that still makes me heart flutter. We are still together.
I grew up a rock n roll and punk fan (MUCH wider music sphere these days), but I bought this on cassette when it first came out, and, though in digital format now, I still routinely listen to entire album several times a year!
I've only ever heard the tin tin out version before. Never knew it was a cover!
More Sundays please. :)
Your reaction was just like mine when I first heard the Sundays. Harriet Wheeler's voice is sublime. One of my all time favorites and it pairs so well with this music. It's a shame she did not continue recording and performing after the Sundays ceased to exist.
The whole Reading,Writing, and Arithmetic album is FRICKIN PHENOMENAL!! You gotta check out "Joy", " I Can't Be Sure" there is not one bad song on this album. Love them!!
When this came out, I was listening on repeat, to this band, to The Cranberries, Oasis, Bjork, Jellyfish and Frente! People seem to hate on The Sundays, or never heard of them, or love them, and basically that's it, not many people just sort of like them or sort of dislike them, if they've heard of them.
Fantastic reaction video. You have done something I've always wanted to see in reaction videos, which is take a bit of time to research the act you're reacting to. But the best is you didn't keep pausing the song and just reacted as it went. ❤❤Subscribed
so good, so good -- this was on my list to get back to you, I'm so glad someone else got to it first! they've got so many great songs, there's more to come. Her voice is so beautiful, and the music is so gorgeous. And I love the lyrics to this song. They actually resonate hugely with me and a time in my life when I was much younger. The next one I would pick is Goodbye. So glad you like them so much...
Love their rendition of the stones wild horses.
Please do Hideous Towns next Salvo! Those jangly guitars you love, Harriet's angelic voice and soul-on-sleeve lyrics, all to a rollicking punk rock beat building to an explosive crescendo! It's incredible! You'll notice the drums in this one. I know it sounds odd, but my words are inadequate, and the song belies description. You'll understand when you hear it. You're welcome, in advance 😉
Harriet literally has the voice of an angel, no song of hers ever failed to make me cry tears of joys. 😅❤
Classic💯
am still wishing them back on the spotlight...thank you for reacting this song, the sundays.......childhood band
The Sundays and The Cranberries seem to make you melt.

Absolutely Love her voice. Pure loveliness. Please try "cant be sure."
Exquisite
I think this is my favorite of theirs.
Such a lovely melody so well sung. "Here's.......Where" sounds so fine.
One of my favorite songs. A shame they only released three albums. Another band from this era you'd probably like is The Ocean Blue. Their biggest hit was "Between Something and Nothing" which peaked at #2 on the alternative rock charts
♥♥♥
Loved this, blast from the past. Song suggestion for you Alannah Myles , ‘Black Velvet’, I think you’d love her voice x
Wow, what a throwback! Such a delight! I remember loving this song sooooo much, it's incredibly charming. Melodically, it reminds me a little of The Decemberists - very pretty, very melodic, swooping guitars. Just wonderful! 😊
If you liked this, you might want to try Swing Out Sister - try Am I the Same Girl? and Breakout for that cool energy, and then Twilight and Forever Blue for that relaxing, infinitely cool Euro jazzy slant to pop. I played their albums to death because they go with everything!
I know that most people will give me flack for saying this; but it's not the grunge/alternative bands that I grew up with that remind me the feeling of growing up in the late '80s and '90s. It's not even this band; but this song is about as nostalgic as it gets for me. This song makes me long for my youth in ways no other song has.
Lovely Harriet Wheeler... such a great voice
They do a beautiful cover of "Wild Horses" (Stones). AlSO: If you liked this, you may like: Wild Strawberries - "I Don't Want To Think About It"
Was that just a coincidence yesterday? I suddenly missed Harriet Wheeler voice so I thought of looking for reaction videos of The Sundays so this is one of the ones I went to. When I opened my facebook, I saw on my wall that someone wished Harriet Wheeler a happy birthday (June 26, 2024 Philippine Time). Yesterday was Harriet's birthday (June 26, 1963).😂
❤This is one of my favorite bands ever. Their cover of Wild Horses(Rolling Stones) is the first song of their's that I ever heard and it changed the way I viewed music. I was shocked it was a cover because it really felt like their own.
i saw them in birmingham supported by galaxy 500
I’m so glad you’ve found the Sundays. Wonderful.
One of my favorite songs. It’s so enchanting! Absolutely loved seeing how happy it made you!!! 🖤
I'm so glad you enjoy The Sundays so much! That is one of my favorite albums and I bought it back when it was first released. Harriet's voice is amazing and the music is so well crafted. I couldn't understand why they did have a bigger audience.
Liked the band but loved her voice more, she should be up there with the greats , shame she didn’t do more. The song folk song is just beautiful and her vocal is gorgeous in it.
Love it! Her voice is so velvety!
Salvo you are smitten by the Sundays. You need to react to Wild Horses by them.
I miss this band. Harriet is so pitch perfect and her voice is so beautiful and catchy. Their song Wild Horses is another perfect Harriet vocal harmonies.
If you enjoy Harriet's vocals, I would recommend "My Finest Hour" from this same album.
If you like this, make sure you listen to Summertime. Best thing they ever recorded. Harriets voice is unique.
They cover the song Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones and I think it is gorgeous.
I recommend you listen to THE SUNDAYS - GOODBYE from the 2nd album called BLIND, it is a melancholy magnificent song. Great channel...blessings.
Such a cute voice...and face! A fave, thanks!
I mentioned it yesterday when you reacted to Bizarre Love Triangle, but please check out Frente! If you like The Sunday's, you'll absolutely love Frente!
There's a Cantonese cover of this song by Chinese singer Faye Wong called Wei Fei Zou Dai (Committing Crimes). Released at the end of 1994, almost 30 years ago. Apart from the intro, it's a rather faithful cover. kzread.info/dash/bejne/laJ_pNaopJS6dMY.htmlsi=iMWWlF3ghybC8lgi
If you want 90's then check out the band "Garbage" you will love the lead singer "Shirley Manson". I would start with "Stupid Girl"
Hi, I recommend either "where hides sleep" by alison moyet, or "the sun rising" by the beloved. I like your genuine reactions, keep up the good work, sir! Best wishes.
Love them! Listen to Wild Horses version.
YOU MUST react to their version of “Wild Horses”
Love this. Thank you for reacting ♥️ Not sure where we “recommend” so apologies if this isn’t the place but PLEASE listen to Bon Iver (on the Jules Holland show) singing Skinny Love x thank you for reading this and apologies if it’s not the right place 🇬🇧💜
Not to change the subject but I could request that you react to Tim Faust singing When Will I Be Loved/Stay. It will show you his range
Listen to Wild Horses next. That one is haunting.
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You needs a reaction
Great band. Had such a crush on Harriet back in the day.
What a voice. Mmmmmmmm.
Hey Salvo, here's great live version of Summertime from 1997. Shame it cuts out the last bar or two though, but her vocals are just flawless live. YT search for "The Sundays - Summertime - TOTP2 - 1997" ( WHY cant we post links YT! So annoying)
You should check out another indie voice Victoria Wlliams
I know what you mean about the vibe of the song being different than the lyrics. Alanis Morissette has a song called Hands Clean which has a vibe but the subject matter is quite serious!
i rather enjoy their cover of the Stones song "Wild Horses" .. but this one is by far my fave.
Ahhhh Harriet Wheeler...
I prefer the Tin Tin Out version
