There is no mention of his mother, nor that Sun Yang destroyed his own sample. Why is that? Is there more to this story that we still haven't heard?

He destroyed his blood samples on the advice of his lawyers who told him that he is not obligated to hand over his blood samples to people without proper credentials (which even FINA acknowledged later that the testers sent to his home on that day lacked the proper credentials). Pretty normal stuff. Doesn't sound very fishy to me.

Could someone direct me to the video showing he destroying his sample to a real authorised tester with valid documentation? It just seems weird to me that he would let someone draw his blood if he is on drug, and few minutes after that making a fuss and destroy the same sample. Having someone pierce your skin for blood for few times a day is not a fun experiences, so it make sense he felt weird why there are tester keep coming to his house request for blood. Put yourself in that scenario and use common sense. I guess there might be further story to why he acted arrogant towards only Scott Duncan (any1 has any info?), but for ppl targetting him for testing 200x non stop must be because he broke world record. In this case, his fault could be thou shall not be too good if you r from non western country ehh?

1. Sun Yang should answer questions directly, as not like a diplomatic officer always trying to talk a lot but avoid important points. 2. Sun Yang's translator was not able to translate english to chinese correctly and precisely, that made situation worse to Sun Yang, giving judge opinion that Sun Yang was not willing to answer questions.

watch the video and tell me which part is unreasonable.

Sun yang should've let them have the samples, i do think that was a mistake. I believe the procedure was sloppy though.

None of these technicalities would cause a false positive. Is Yang denying these allegations? What’s his explanation for the positive test result? Would like to know those things.

Mr. HeavyDebater Actually, I did mistakenly believe he had tested positive here, when the real problem is that he destroyed test samples. My bad. But you’re still wrong. He tested positive in 2014 and was banned from the sport for a while.

​@@judosailor I think the whole thing is just unfortunate. Sun has great talent of being a swimmer in terms of his body, together with his many years of self-disciplined training. The incident in 2014 was hard to explain as he claimed the drug he used was for his heart condition prescribed years earlier and he had continued to use it up to the positive test. He claimed he did not know the drug had just been listed by the anti doping authority, but it is true that he did not appeal to the anti doping authority about his being allowed to use the drug because of his heart condition (I would appeal to clear the name if I am innocent). The fact is also in his favor when the positive test was found during his Chinese national level competition, which means he was so great compared to other Chinese swimmers that he did not have the motive to use drug to boost his performance. I tend to believe he was just being sloppy or people around him was stupid/incompetent to keep him aware of the banned drug list, though I don't have proof other than thinking this through. I don't agree with the Australia/UK's swimmers' way of protest as I see it as a bully but it is their ways of freedom of speech. I also think Sun should have cooled down a little as he portrayed himself as someone who is very easy to be irritated. End of the day, Sun were heavily tested after 2014 and he won multiple titles all these years and he has been clean. As the hearing shows that he had concerns with the way his blood being gathered and transported, and I have to agree with him when seeing the crappy foam box. In the legal world, one is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and I understand in the public opinion court, things may be different.

chengbo yin Let me give some perspective. I’m a huge fan of MMA/UFC, and there’s a lot of PED‘s in that sport. In the last couple years when they started testing a lot more for PEDs a lot of fighters have gotten busted and tested positive. They always have some excuse for why, from tainted supplements to other medication. But even when it’s a fighter I’m a fan of, and will continue to be a fan of, I almost never believe those excuses. And I feel the same way about Yang. We’re talking about professional athletes at the top of their field. They know what they’re doing. For the rest of the world it’s remarkably easy to NOT take PED’s! LOL. Yet somehow for these top level athletes who would be strongly tempted to do whatever it takes to win, the world seems filled with foods, medications, and supplements that can cause positive tests. That’s ridiculous. This guy has been caught before, and he destroyed these samples because he didn’t want to be caught again. It’s as simple as that.

@Mr. HeavyDebater Are you kidding? He was found guilty of being a drug cheat in 2014 and banned. Now he has missed a compulsory mid season test. At this level of sport all of the coaches know the rules. In 2014 the Chinese media didnt want to report the truth. The rest of the world see him very differently. In Australia we also have a girl swimmer who was caught and she has been banned and shamed. So you are not alone but you do need to see it for what it is and not through biased eyes. Break the rules and your out no matter where your from.

@@judosailor What you believe or don´t believe is irrelevant here. The procedure for the testing was not correct therefore the tests are not valid. It´s as simple as that. The rest of the world (as in not professional athletes) are never tested for PEDs, otherwise there would be plenty of positve test results.

The reason why Sun Yang win so easily has nothing to do with drugs. 1. For every one stroke he takes, his competitors has to take 2 strokes to cover the same distance. 2. He makes minimal splashes on his strokes, preventing wasted energy. 3. He only kicks hard on the last lap.

They are disturbing Sun Yang's training for the Olympics.

even if Sun Yang is out, so what? He is a talented swimmer as well as super hard working. This is all the politics that people played on him. I don't believe he took drugs and tried to avoid tests. Why testers didn't come to the court? It's simply because they made mistakes and didn't follow processes. Oh well, even if Sun Yang is out, we Chinese will sooner or later stand on Olympics with Championships again in swimming. We could wait for years to have the next talented and hard working swimmer, but so what? :)
